    The Dye Rotor is indeed built like a tank. It's also worth noting that the torque setting on the Dye Rotor can be adjusted, and it isn't difficult to get it dialed-in to where it consistently feeds, doesn't jam, and won't break balls (at least not your own, right?!). Adjusting the torque was the first thing I did to mine when I got it. Even after being adjusted, it'll still empty out stupid fast.

      Bingo. I'm still using my OG Rotor for everything. Everyone wants the lightest setup but I'm confident knowing how overbuilt everything is.

    In around between 2000-2002 before I bought the Odyssey Halo B loader, I was using a Ricochet 2K loader that used the same sensor, and I honestly have to say that I never once had a problem with it feeding when I would run it dry and then reload, so I really can't imagine that this tab sensor is really going to be a problem. I'd say as long as it doesn't fall apart, it is probably a pretty decent loader for the price range.

    • @dopemopey
      @dopemopey Рік тому

      I'm 90% certain the guy from Pinokio was the designer of the Ricochet hoppers. I can't remember where I read that, but it is a possibility. So the Speed is essentially a modern Ricochet.

    • @dopemopey
      @dopemopey Рік тому

      Also, I remember reading that the tab sensor was a workaround for ViewLoader patents on the eye system. The patents are now expired and moot. But that is the reason for the design choice.

    So I was actually a Pinnokio user back in 2009-10 or so, and we never had a problem with feeding paint, ever. It was consistent and flawless at 12.5. The big problem we had with them were brittle shells and feednecks snapping. The concerns you have at 2:06 just didn't happen to anyone on my team for two seasons. We did have 3-4 feednecks break though...

    I bought a Sonic recently and I'm really liking it so far. The weight is definitely a stand-out feature for me. It's even lighter with a 9V than my IR2 is with the N-charge, but feels solidly built despite that. Feeds very reliably too. I also feel I have a greater field of vision when playing due to the way the feed spout is situated more toward the center/rear of the shell (loader sits more forward than other designs). Only thing I don't like is the capacity. They claim 200 but I kinda doubt that as it seems like 150 round pod fills this thing nearly to the brim. Perhaps if you remove the spring ramp it would reach the advertised number.

    Speed was my favorite hopper, so seeing an upgrade is awesome. I do hope the battery/board is upgraded though. My speed sometimes failed whenever the battery wasn't fresh.

    Do you think the 9v battery will run out quicker than other hoppers, given most others use more batteries? The Sonic seems to be the only hopper using a single 9v. I'm a bit confused why companies choose different battery configurations 1:9v, 2:9v, 3:AA, or 4:AA. I assume a force feed, or more complicated systems would require more batteries, however I noticed in your hopper chart that thought process doesn't necessarily seem to be in alignment. Your videos are the absolute best. Thanks for all your effort.

    rotors were made for the days when BPS was a huge selling point

  • @Isaac_L..
    @Isaac_L.. Рік тому +2

    I bought the speed. The lid snapped off the first day I had it, but the bigger problem I have with it is that the thing uses two 9v batteries. I don't want to buy $20 worth of batteries to power a $80 hopper. This is a bit better but I still don't get why HK hasn't just moved to rechargable batteries or even AA/AAAs like everyone else has.

    I used my gen 1 Rotor from the day I bought it new in 2009 up until 2019 or 2020, when I bought my first gen SpireIR. Now, with a BK speed feed, that is my go-to hopper. Then again, I usually play mechanical with a Gmek or Autococker, or use my Reflex Rail capped at 10bps.
    BUT, thank God for the Rotor and it's insane speed. I have an old blind Angel Speed, and a blind B2K4, and had a blind Impulse until I recently sold it. And I'm grateful that I can still get all nostalgic and use these old markers without worrying about chopping. On those markers, I ALWAYS use my Rotor, and performance is flawless.

    • @laez
      @laez Рік тому

      Lol, I just got back in to playing - still had a Rotor 1 in the box! Works great. Someone gave me the inner piece that made it more reliable too for free, so that was a bonus!

    If you are using a Automag RT with x-valve and level 10 bolt, and properly tuned trigger with ultra high output HPA tank you HAVE to use a force feed hopper like a Rotor LT-R.

    If I actually have time to play this season I might look into this. Still have my OG Pinocchio but usually lend it to kids or rental players with gravity feeds. Never had a problem with it ever but it's too big. I'm not really a big fan of the rotor I got to replace it as it tends to jam. I don't even see a difference in speed cause I'm usually playing woodsball

    Going back to the company said that it's hard to get guns to go 20 balls per 2nd or faster I heard that The company that made angel had a gun that you could easily get over that There are some videos on UA-cam esposedly at 50 balls per 2nd Don't know if it's true but would be curious to see if that is an actual thing and if these newer hoppers could keep up to it

    On your hopper weight chart, you don't show the Revvy. I've had mine 20yrs and still haven't found anything worth swapping it out for. Yes it averages 10bps, but with modern guns with eyes, its never been a problem. Would the Sonic or something else be much of an upgrade on an Autococker? I even use my Revvy on my pumps and apart from new shells every couple of years its been amazing.
