Congratulations man! I think one of the many reasons you have reached this many subscribers and I have no doubt that you're going to reach thousands and thousands of more is The fact that you don't edit these videos and are able to just sit there and have an almost flawless conversation with the audience. Its actually pretty amazing! Most people can't do that and you make it look so easy. I was going to start a channel many years ago but I freeze when a camera is turned on me. I just can't interact with a camera the same way I can with an actual person. Awesome work man. 👌

Congrats on 9k sub's, Ramsey! You're putting the best and most honest frag content on YT. Bar far. You feel like an old friend at this point, lol, even though we've never met. You're knowledge and passion for the hobby is greatly appreciated. This "Reference" vid is a great concept, and one of the best you've done. Three frag's for each major note is perfect. Sometimes when there's 25-50+ frag's for one note, it gets overwhelming. Keeping doing what you do!

I've been watching your videos for a few months now (old & new) and just subscribed last week :) no one does chypre and vintage so much justice and space as you do - and you do it well!!!
I truly indulge into these long videos, actually I keep talking with you throughout them (hahaha!) because it's sooooo rare nowadays to have someone talking vintage with knowledge and passion!
Being 52, I'm a vintage myself, so I've lived through quite a few of those fragrances - so, from a chypre vintage lover from Brazil, congrats and keep up the great work!

what a perfectly timed video lmao....today i got the first raw ingredients ive ever bought....non compliant oakmoss absolute and a sample of violet leaf absolute. congrats on 9000 dude!!

@@RamseytheRam i got them from darren alan. the oakmoss is amazing, i could literally just wear that by itself (the violet leaf i havent put on skin yet but smells crazy out of the bottle). after letting the oakmoss dry a little ive realized that ive been smelling oakmoss in fragrances more than i thought. for example theres this buttery (for lack of a better term) thing i get (in stuff like patou voyaguer for example) that i always thought was sandalwood, but apparently it was oakmoss lol.

Congratulations on 9k! Out of genuine curiosity, how does one acquire a taste for dank, funky, animalic fragrances? I can’t get behind them because they genuinely do not smell good to me. Maybe I haven’t gotten my nose on enough to appreciate them or it will come with age.
It very well may come with age for some people ... others they have it from the first fragrance they smell and its just in them

I would like to correct here (If I am not wrong). In whisky distillation "Angel's Share" is called to the portion of the spirit that gets vaporized over the years they stay in barrel due to the change in atmospheric condition i.e. temperature and humidity. Like that portion which is lost belongs to the angels LOL. Great video Ram as always. Just got the War and Peace of ALD, its something which I have no reference in my brain, worth the extra I paid.

One reference musk for me is Serge Lutens L'Orpheline (but I think it's a botanical musk accord). Speaking of notes, I don't think you've done a This Is Not A Top Ten Juniper? If you ever get to it, you should wait until you've gotten a sniff of Pineward Oxylus - that is my reference juniper scent!

Another killer "Reference" video from the House of Ram! Thank you for this. PS. just a heads up, the angels' share is referring to the alcohol & liquor that evaporates as a whiskey, liquor, etc is aged in barrels. Lot's of lore to this, but basically just the amount that comes up "missing" during the aging process.

Excellent video. That fun fact about the origin of the word Attar was a gem. Also, I could be wrong, but I think Angel's Share is the amount alcohol that evaporates during the barrel aging process. Bourbon that gets absorbed into the barrel is called Devil's Cut. I'm not sure if that's what you were trying to describe.

I got myself a vtg mini of Boss by Hugo Boss (without number one written on it, so must be an early iteration).
I expected some serious piss.. it's not that outrageous as I have imagined it to be, just pleasant.
I came to a conclusion that old school women's frags most of the time are a lot more animalic than men's.
Oh and the bottle design is just class, very simple and minimalistic, but the raised vertical lines and the font and how everything is aligned just makes it.
I'm not a collector, I don't keep sh*t around just for the sake of owning it, but I'm going to keep that little bottle as a reference of a perfect design.
Nice! Try things like Furyo or vintage Kouros if you want to be hit in the face with funk lol
