Thank you so much! I’ve been searching the internet and you tube for an easy way to watch our favorite football games while camping this fall!! This should work
We're grateful that you take the time to do these videos. I have my hotspot set up so that it uses the same settings as my home network. This makes moving the Apple TV box or the Amazon Firestick to the trailer very easy. No setup required. I'm thinking of getting a 2-1 HDMI switch so that the Apple TV and the standard Jensen system can coexist with the flip of a switch. The iPhone can be charged at the same time that this is all going on wirelessly.
YAY!! You found the "hidden" Truman and Bess. I will let Patty know about the Reuben....looks like we will have to go back again! LOL It was great seeing you guys last night.
What a timely video for me. I just bought an RV and couldn’t pick up any local channels with my antenna. I tried to stream Netflix using my phone and that didn’t work. I wasn’t interested in the DVDs I brought so thanks for the great video! I used your Amazon affiliate to order what I needed to stream to my tv.
Very useful information, Patrick! We just got a 6ft Foinnex 4 in 1 USB C to HDMI Multi-function plug & play cable to connect phone, computer or tablet. Also has Micro SD card reader slot, another C port and USB port. $22.99 Amazon. Technology & their various proprieties can get confusing to me, I'll let Chris figure that one out...the visuals on your video really helped me out tho! Thanks! Safe and happy travels and see you guys #ondowntheroad ~💜
Hey Patrick and Patty, thank you so much for the shout out, we appreciate it. I was just sitting here casually catching up on my favorite you tubers with Taylor and Todd snoring beside me on our couch and I yelled there we are and scared them both, lol. We won't be able to make it to the Meetup in SC because of some family obligations but we may be able to catch up with you in Virginia. We will keep you posted. ~Carla
We are going to get you guys to 1000 subs soon! Hopefully we can catch up with you guys sometime! I still want to try live streaming with you if I can get some good wifi.
Another great video Patrick! I have a Roku, so will plan to throw it on the “take with me” pile! You do such a great job with these videos!!!! See you soon! Amanda
I have an OTA and I installed satellite. I also use Firestick or cast to the firestick from my tablet or phone. Oh wow when I write it all down I see I may have a problem lol. Nice video, Lou
LOL!! Lots of options Lou! Isn't funny how we love our technology even when we are camping. As much as I love the idea of off grid, I don't do well without data! LOL
If you have an iPhone you already have the AppleTV App on your phone so you don’t need an external device that needs power. Eliminate the AppleTV box and just use that iPhone dongle to connect the iPhone to your TV & run the AppleTV App that has the same content. Love your videos! (The Apple TV App on the phone is called “TV”).
You can get adapters for most Android phones (and don't forget tablets) too, and it's a great way to go. A lot of services allow you to download movies and shows onto your device beforehand so you don't have to worry about having good enough cellular/WiFi at the campsite.
I download Movies and TV shows to my Pixelbook on the Amazon or Google Play App, I connect it to my TV via a similar converter... Most Android Phones do not allow their port to stream over HDMI. Thanks for your Videos!, I appreciate the Professional Quality!! (no shaking)
outstanding presentation - thanks ---if I ever full time, internet access is a big quality of life deal I'd have to conquer. It keeps one in touch w/ the world.
Hi Patrick, I have been watching all your videos as I have just purchased a Tab 400. On my most recent outing I tried the iPhone HDMI adapter. Works as you described, However, I cannot not get sound out of the Jensen TV. When I unplug the HDMI the Jensen Entertainment system shutdowns. So no way to drive sound through the speakers. How did you get sound out? Thanks again for all your great posts. Everything I know about camping with my Tab was from watching your posts!
We could only get sound through the TV speakers as the TV is not tied back into the stereo system. The only thing you will get out of your speakers is the Radio, CD's or DVD's or bluetoothing a device to the stereo.
I have an 01 express conversion van, I live in and I just installed a 24 inch TV to watch the free digital channel's, mainly the news, I also have you tube TV on my phone, I want to watch it on my TV, if it's possible, I'm new into the van life, so I have a lot to figure out yet, I have 1000 watt inverter, and a marine deep cell battery, that I use to power the TV, I don't see all the connections, on my TV that yours has, mine may be an older flat screen TV, thank you for the video!
I have a Roku stick and use the 12v outlet.over the sink to power it, so I don't need to turn on the inverter. BTW: Excellent discussion of streaming options.
Thank you! And great idea about using the 12v outlet. You could also plug a small inverter into that 12v plug to power something like a Firestick or Apple TV.
I bought a generic iPhone HDMI adapter and it works great. One thing about these generic iPhone adapters is that you have to plug the iPhone power cord into the adapter to make it work.
Hi. I do the same thing with my iPhone hooked directly to my smart tv with the apple lightning adapter and the hdmi cable to stream my home tv services. However, the last time I tried this in July 2024 everytime I hooked the hdmi cable into the tv I would lose visual on my youtubetv service. I could still hear it on the tv but not see it. As soon as I would unhook from the tv, I could once again see and hear it on my iPhone only. This has not been a problem until this summer camping trips. Do you know if youtubetv has somehow put some type of stop on users doing this?
I have been using my iPhone just like you. I have dish anywhere and Netflix both on my phone so it’s almost like being at home. Except better because I’m camping in my tab 400 😁
Debbie F you can get a Netflix app for your iPhone and iPad and if you have a Dish with the hopper you can get the dish anywhere app for iPhone and your iPad. And you can basically mirror Netflix and dish on your tv in the trailer. You do not need Wi-Fi to do that on your phone
What about just casting from your phone to the TV? Will the TV in the 400 let you do this? At home my TV's are smart enough to let me cast directly to them no devices. UA-cam let you cast Netflix let you cast as well as a whole Slough of other online services.
I purchased an Insignia 24" TV with the built in firestick and programming to go with it. I switched on my personal hotspot on my Iphone, plugged the 6" adaptable cord into it, and then hooked up the 6' long HDTV USB from that into the TV. When I went to the Network listings on the settings on the TV, it showed my iPhone on there, but says it is out of range. All other networks showed as available except this one. Anyone have any ideas? By the way, my motorhome is plugged in to my house, and not to a generator at the moment. Thanks for any info you can provide.
@@TravelswithDelaney That worked. But something you might like. I talked to my son, and he told me that there is no reason to have 6" adaptable cord into it, or the 6' long HDTV USB from that into the TV. I disconnected those and the phone was enough to send the WIFI signal to the TV. Everything works fine now. I'm going out to the middle of the Mojave next week. That should be the real test.
If you get a roku express from Walmart (about 30.00), you can use the included RCA cable and get audio over your campers speakers instead! Edit: The cable that was included with the camper*
I did this exact setup in the mountains camping for the heavy weight boxing title and when the fight came on the screen was blacked out but I could still hear the fight. Then when I connected it to a laptop it would show the fight.
keep in mind wile traveling your Rv you might be off your cell network and roaming on another network known as "Partners" .Although you may have 20 or 40gig of data for your "Hotspot" your cell cattier may limit you to only 5gig of Hotspot on a Partner Network. Once you hit your limitation your cell phone speed is at a crawl and will not reset until you move your phone back onto your carriers Network or when your next billing cycle restarts. An alternative would be to get another phone and line from another cell carrier and use as an backup but that could cost additional $30-$70 per month plus additional phone cost.
RV Habit I also have my fire stick hooked up this way. It’s an older one but it was super easy for me to do and I’m not technologically inclined at all.
Thank you Joyce! I shave it every year from March 16-April 20 as a tribute to my mom who we lost to pancreatic cancer in 2015. She hated my facial hair. So to honor her, I shave it on the day she passed and keep it off until her birthday.
When I go camping, NO TV,/VCR/DVD. No EXCEPTIONS. To be fair I should add, I don't have a TV at home, my choice & my way of ignoring FAKE NEWS altogether. Color MEeee a Social, Fiscal, & Political conservative. I also have NO so-called SMART phone. I do have a Personal Locator Beacon & a real dedicated Garmin GPS.
Thank you so much! I’ve been searching the internet and you tube for an easy way to watch our favorite football games while camping this fall!! This should work

Thank you John!
This was a well presented and informative video! Thank you D!

I was thinking about getting one of those switches as well Arnie! I actually was looking them up today on Amazon.
Awwww...... Bess and Truman alert under the T.V. Soooo cute. BTW..... The Reuben was the best I've ever had ;)
YAY!! You found the "hidden" Truman and Bess. I will let Patty know about the Reuben....looks like we will have to go back again! LOL It was great seeing you guys last night.

I stream with Chromecast! 5 years now!!💋
Great
Good day sir ur probably not gonna read this but was wondering what kind of dvd cd Radio player that is ur using??
The RV had a Jenson CD/DVD/Radio in it.
Does audio still play back via the Jensen speakers? I thought they used the HDMI to send audio back.
No. The audio comes through the tv speakers. Only the DVD was connected to the speakers in the trailer.
to stream from phone, with Apple adapter, does the tv need to be a Smart version?
I have hdmi cords to our ipads (or phones). Works great for prime streaming.
We use Amazon Prime too!
I have been using my iPhone just like you. I have dish anywhere and Netflix both on my phone so it’s almost like being at home. Except better because I’m camping in my tab 400 😁

We have a DISH satellite and also bring along DVDs.
We carry our Mad about You CD collection with us just in case.
2 Thumbs Up! Any idea how to cover that blue light the tv has always on?
I use a spot of electrical tape. I haven't seen the blue light since day 2.
The electrical tape is a great option. We sometimes just set a decorative pillow in front of it.

Unfortunately the TV that came with the 400 is not a smart TV. If it was, you are correct that.
I was afraid of that. I pick up my 400 next week. Thanks for all these other options.
I have a 2016 motor home with the original TV. Is it usable with my iphone?
2006 motor home!!1
If it has an HDMI plug in the back, then yes.
I LOVE unlimited T Mobile and our Fire Stick. We dumped AT&T because of there ridiculous data plans. Plus T-Mobile has better coverage in Arizona.
We might have to check out T Mobile. Can't say we have been real happy with ATT and their prices.
