For the people hating on this person for clipping their horse let me explain! The horses fur gets extremely thick during the winter and by the time summer hits it takes a LONG time for the horse to loose all that thick coat. It's not fair for the horse to be in a paddock overheating so people clip them! It makes the horse so much more comfortable and it only takes a few weeks for the coat to come back. Also, I'd like to know how many of u haters actually know anything about horses because ur all assuming the horse will get 'cold' or 'sunburn' but horses are wild animals, they can stand comfortably without a rug in lower that 1° and they stay in the shade on hot days, most owners also make sure their horses wear thin cotton rugs in hot weather and in cold and rainy weather a thick rug. Hope that answered it.

I am a Korean equestrian I clip my horse periodically and this is not abuse. The reason I clip my horse is that my horse is weak against heat and lacks patience. Simply pouring water won't fix it. The water dries quickly due to the high body temperature, and when the water dries, she breathes short of breath due to the heat again. And my horse's feathers get dirty easily, which can pose a threat of infection to horses who are prone to leg sores from being distracted. Not only me, but most riders wear fly sheets and spray anti-burn spray to protect from burns. They also apply a specially formulated oil to protect the skin. In order to do clipping, I do training to get used to the clipper, and I feed a lot of snacks in between clippings. Also, if the horse is tired, stop immediately and resume when her condition is good. So it usually takes 3days for her. Where do you think the clipped horse hair goes? Horse hair will get stuck in your shoes, in your hat and even in your underwear and will haunt you for a week. Horse hair grows really fast and grows faster when the weather gets colder. In winter, horses (especially youngsters) are more likely to catch a cold if they exercise hard and sweat in the cold air. That's why I shave fur that can contain sweat, and even in cold weather, I use a blanket(if necessary) to regulate her body temperature after clipping. My colt has air conditioning in the summer and a heater in the winter, but that's not enough. Clipping is cumbersome for people as well as horses, but I enjoy clipping for my horses :)

Most horses are clipped during the summer or winter. In the winters we clip them so after they get ridden they and cold and sweaty which would obviously be very uncomfortable and put blankets on them. Some horses with thicker coats aren't clipped in the winter because they're coat keeps them warm. Most horses are clipped in the summer to keep them from overheating.

Don't do that! It may satisfy you, but the horse will not have protection against bugs, the sun, and over-heating. The hair actually provides a cooling layer of air, and gives some protection against bug bites. Bad idea!! 😢

I don’t know where your getting this information from, but it’s very incorrect. The saddle pad protects the saddle from rubbing on the horses skin, the fur does not. Fur makes them sweat more when your riding them. That’s why people clip (aka shave) their horses

I don't understand why people like you shaved their main off and that mean is there to keep the flies and bugs off from them when I own my Trotters Douglas bride was at this Farm where my ex-boyfriend's mother took my two children to see him without asking me she cut his Mane and his bangs that port code had to fight flies off his face and his eyes in his neck from flies and mosquitoes I was so upset I told her how would you like it if I cut your hair like that and leave you outside with the flies in the mosquitoes everytime I see people cutting their manes off they get bitten by a horsefly mosquitoes that cause of worms when they shake their head with their main they're getting mosquito and flies off in their neck or eyes you're not always there to spray them sometimes those chemicals are not good for the horses

Don't agree with shaving, the horse will shed at it's proper time, just keep up with regular grooming. Proper nutrition and parasite control have a big effect on the horse's coat.

I don't understand why people like you shaved their main off and that mean is there to keep the flies and bugs off from them when I own my Trotters Douglas bride was at this Farm where my ex-boyfriend's mother took my two children to see him without asking me she cut his Mane and his bangs that port code had to fight flies off his face and his eyes in his neck from flies and mosquitoes I was so upset I told her how would you like it if I cut your hair like that and leave you outside with the flies in the mosquitoes everytime I see people cutting their manes off they get bitten by a horsefly mosquitoes that cause of worms when they shake their head with their main they're getting mosquito and flies off in their neck or eyes you're not always there to spray them sometimes those chemicals are not good for the horses

Don't agree with shaving, the horse will shed at it's proper time, just keep up with regular grooming. Proper nutrition and parasite control have a big effect on the horse's coat.
