The whole 'take the idea and make it different' thing kinda fuels content creation. I'd say anywhere from 60%-85% of the games I own are because I saw someone else play it and wanted to do my take on it. Hell, I took an entire series idea from Yahtzee (The game reviewer, not the board game), but changed the format enough that if you didn't hear me say it was inspired by that, you might never guess.
