Mexico in the early 2000s absorbed, but mixed in possession when they could. Mexico did the most damage from counter attacks and crosses in the 2000s because they had Omar Bravo, Alberto Medina, Barrera, Jesus Arrellano, Borgetti, Ramon Morales, and Nery Castillo

I am a Pole married to a wonderful Mexican woman. I told my wife after the WC: "Mexico has money and with all those great coaches out of a job like Martinez. Pocchetino, Paulo Bento, Tite, Luis Enrique, Bielsa, Tuchel, Marcelino, etc., you guys will have a great coach, while Poland, which does not have as much money or potential for success, will get a lousy coach again." I was shocked to find out that Poland got the great Fernando Santos (who got a then lousy Portugese team without Ronaldo to win Euro 2016) for 2 million euros a year, while Mexico was getting another lousy Argentinian coach who has done nothing outside the Mexican and Argentinian league and pay them at least 4 million dollars a year. Mexico could have had a coach of pure gold, but again it is a coach who will be a yes man to the Mexican federation and the league owners who will do nothing to improve the Mexican national team. Yes, Mexico will probably reach the 5th game in the next WC, but that will still only be the 1/8 final in a 48 team tournament. Cocca instead of all the great European based coaches who do not have a job. Ridiculous!

MATIAS ALMEYDA... that's who they needed! He's on track to win the domestic double in Greece and potentially qualify AEK Athens for the Champions League!! Not to mention everything he did for Chivas. Chivas, who were on the border of relegation for like 5 years straight before Almeyda came and won 2 cups, the league, and the CONCACAF champions league with a group of mediocre players that only ever knew what it was to lose. Sound familiar? Oh yeah, just like Mexico.
As much as it hurts me, Mexico does not have quality players at the moment, and even those that do have quality are on a downwards trend at the moment: Chucky, Lainez, Jimenez, etc. Mexico needs a coach who knows how to bring the best out of mediocre players and players with a chip on their shoulder. They need Matias Almeyda. You already hired another Argentinian ANYWAYS, so away with that excuse.
But ofc that's not gonna happen because of politics.

This is the difference between USA soccer and Mexican soccer. Did you noticed the statement form Tigres after Cocca accepted the job!? "Terminated" exemplify the working relationship between the team owners and the Mexican federation. What’s wrong with Cocca’s defense first mentality? In fact it benefits Mexico due to the players they have. I’m sorry to say this but Mexico just isn’t creative enough to play attacking football. They proved that through the years by how they move the ball on the pitch. However, on the counter they are wicked and brilliant. Cocca can literally employ a 3-5-2 or go with a 4-3-3 if Vela decides to come back.

    • @JM-vf8tk
      @JM-vf8tk Рік тому +3

Agree with everything except that Vela is coming back. He's not. The problem is that Mexicans think they actually have the players to implement an attacking style of football. They don't and the few players that actually show any offensive talent either are inconsistent or end up returning to play in Mexico or the MLS once they realize they can't cut it in Europe.

Mexico have to stop getting Argentinian coaches who make them lose to Argentina every time they play them because every Argentinian is a football patriot and would not allow his team to lose to especially Mexico. So instead of Edson Alvarez in the midfield you put in old Guardado and put Lozano as a number 9. That is why Mexico lost to Argentina. And Mexico did not advance because Tagliafico confirmed that Argentina purposely did not want to score more than two goals against Poland so that Mexico would not advance. And yet Mexico has a love affair with Argentinian coaches who always make Mexico lose. For 4 million dollars you could make many a good European coach move to Mexico City and finally make Mexico a successful football team. All at least get Piojo back who knew how to win and also how to put stupid journalists in their place.

    Correct 👍
And this reflects a lack of international Soccer Expertise level.
European Coaches won 12 World Cups (with Italy Germany France England Spain)
South American National Teams (local Coaches) won 10 World Cups (Brazil Argentina Uruguay)
The European Clubs or European Leagues acquire more Soccer Expertise, because they get the best Soccer Players in the world, from within Europe and the South America Region and all over. So unless a National Team in the Concacaf gets a Coach who worked in Europe, you will not have a Mexican or American or Canadian National team capable of winning on the World Club level like they do in the Gold Cup.
But, how does Argentina or Brazil do it?
(Uruguay hasn't won since the 1930..
The answer can only be understood if you analyze how these Nations National Team Coach works vis a vis preparing for European National Teams.
Unless you are good in knowing European and South American Soccer, no way you will succeed as a Coach, no matter the National Team you coach.
There is one exception to this Rule: Hoalid Regragui !!
How did he come out First from a group that included two Croatia and Belgium and Canada?
Then how did he defeat Spain and Portugal (4 European National Team, 2 of them played several Finals)
And Hoalid Regragui did not coach any BIG European Clubs, however he knows more than enough about European Soccer.
The other point is Hoalid Regragui did not play in South America like he did in France mostly..
So how didi he know how to play best against Brazil Chile and beat them in Friendlies and against Paraguay a tie????
So, there are solutions for the National team of Mexico and the US and Canada, the lesson from Morocco's Hoalid Regragui can be enough to draw the right answers.
So who does that analysis if it's not the Federation?
It is the Federation Officials JOB to do these analysis and figure out a path forward.
The Problem is when you have Nepotism, it's almost impossible to even have that conversation

  • @MrGA555

Mexicans keep thinking that “style” matters in winning football games nowadays. What they need is players that can play in any style and that’s something they lack severely. If Argentina showed us anything this last World Cup is that playing “pretty” is not going to cut it but having top talent in top leagues and having a coach that can exploit that talent with different styles can reap rewards. Cocca may not implement an attractive/flashy style of football but he can set up the foundation by finding talent in the Mexican league that can eventually be molded into playing any style. Will it be attractive football? No. But it will be effective and enough for them to beat the teams they have to beat and perhaps even giving us the surprise here and there.

Cocca possesses none of these qualities. He won at Atlas because of the players grupo Orlegi brought in. Outside of Atlas he only had one successful stint as coach in Argentina for Racing.
