Curry played absolutely amazing in the last two games but Bron was putting in WORK since DAY ONE of the tournament. While Curry was struggling the first couple of games, Bron was CONSISTENTLY consistent in his overall contributions. The FIBA MVP is based on the ENTIRETY of tournament play. Not just one or two games. Bron’s consistency, leadership, and overall play is what lead to him receiving that honor. Yeah, I get it. But you say, “not just one or two games.” Those were the BIGGEST games of the Olympics. They make the final round of four without much trouble, probably without either of them. But they don’t win the gold without either of them. And Steph was spectacular when it was needed most; otherwise the US is fighting it out for a bronze (or silver) medal instead of winning gold. LaBron is terrific and a great team leader. What a joy it was to see LaBron and Steph on the same team, along with Durant. As far as MVP, I’d just as soon consider both LaBron and Steph MVPs as both were terrific and indispensable, and let’s face it, LaBron was a picture of consistency, and Steph had some moments in those two crucial games that will go down in history and will be watched forever in highlights. I salute them both!
Lebron play really well and I agree second best player on that team and second best player on the games that mattered. I can’t commend him for play really well against scrubs and curry not (he was the main defense of focus and doubled team) curry didn’t need to show up bc he was needed everyone was playing well bc the other team was just focus on stopping Steph which made the other guys excel. Last two games they needed Steph which means he’s the most valuable bc you need him not bc he stat pads against some scrub nations who we beat by 20+ points per game

Tatum was competing for minutes with LeBron, KD, and maybe even Booker. Looking at how he performed in the few minutes he got, it's hard to think he deserved more playing time when those other 3 dudes were putting up consistent numbers.

The argument that Steph was the most valuable is valid from the perspective that he is the one who stepped up when it mattered most, in the two closest games. He gave them what it took to win the medal. But Lebron was more consistent and played well every single game. The MVP for the whole Olympics is given for performance during the whole tournament, not a selection of games, just like NBA MVP is given for consistency throughout the entire regular season. Steph would have had the finals MVP if there was one. In the end, who cares. Both played insane, both showed that they are STILL two of the greatest and we needed both to win.
You think Stephen A doesn't know that the MVP award is for the entire tournament? He's just being mischievous. Just a lame attempt to diminish Bron's achievements at the Olympics. Typical of him to stoke up unnecessary controversy. That's how these guys make their money. Imagine his take on Tatum. He is talking as if Tatum did not play at all. Are you kidding me? Bron handled the ball most and had the most touches yet hi stats weren’t amazing. He played great d but not incredible offense. Lots of turnovers. Steph relinquished mvp for the exhibition games but when they needed to win, Bron gave the ball to Steph and got out the way. Steph dominated and owned those opponents. Not even close how much better he played when they needed him.
I agree with Stephen A on his analysis of the semi game and gold medal game. Steph should’ve gotten the MVP because Team USA wouldn’t even be in it had he not played his best in the semi game. Most value player is about doing the most at a crucial opportune time in the game. When others players lost it in the semi including LBJ it was Steph n Embid that kept them in it. I have mad admiration for LBJ but he just doesn’t fit that mega clutch mentality that MJ, KB, Steph and a few others players have. They all kept giving Steph the ball in the last minutes of the gold medal game, to me that’s what separates LBJ from the total MVP award. ❤️ all of them though in their own individual skills set. It was the most awesome, exciting Olympic basketball I’ve seen in a long time.
If JT deserves it, he still have a lot of chances to prove it. Just give this moment to the seniors; LBJ, Chef and KD. Bottom line is they delivers. Gold is at hand.
I watched the Serbia game, and every second truly mattered. Kerr wisely kept the players who were performing well in the game. Tatum struggled in every game he played, so I believe Kerr made the right decision in that match.
If I were Jayson Tatum, I would respect Steve kerr's decision because he's won it so many times, along with the experience so why go againstthe grain. Gold baby 🔥
Steph is such a model of consistency and repetition. Probably took him a minute to adjust to the b international 3vpoint line and the different ball. But I'm glad he showed up when he did! Those last two games were spectacular!🇺🇸🏀🏅
The Curry “struggling” narrative is so trifling. All the major media players are using it to somehow excuse LeBron’s lack of clutch in the final games.
Completely agree. Kerr had to pull out Bronand talk to him in the final vs France because he was screwing up so much. As soon as Steph took point the team was able to celebrate and stop stressing about Lebron turning it over.
Cmon man I thought u knew basketball better.... It's such a hard job being a coach. Steve Kerr had the guts to make these decisions despite people disrespecting him.... Much respect to Kerr
Us fans sit back and watch, its not easy - these guys barely came together 6 weeks ago and had to learn not only how to play together but how to play olympic basketball ( not NBA ball ) and find a way to get it together and play well. Kerr got it done and the team got it done
Tatum didn’t do crap when he was out there, y’all can drop that narrative. He couldn’t buy a shot, silly fouling, sloppy ball handling. Kerr relied on his heavy hitters he knew could get it done in the crunch and Tatum didn’t show he was one of them.
Mvp (most valuable player) is not mcp (most consistent player). I don't understand when people argued that Lebron won mvp because he was most consistent. However, everyone agreed that it was Curry who was most valuable in bringing the gold medal home.
There would be no semi final to play if others played as bad as Curry in the pool play and the quarter finals. They needed to qualify and he was asleep in those games. I am glad he finally did what Curry does. But that does not make him the MVP. The award is similar to the regular season MVP in the NBA. Do you give the award to the player who played lights out in the final two or ten games and got his team into the play offs? Did Tatum win Finals MVP despite leading his team in the major statistical categories? You'all❤ need to put your feelings aside and face facts.
It goes both ways. No gold medal if Curry didn't finish the way that he did regardless how consistent LeBron is. And they voted for MVP before the semifinals. If it's really for the entire tournament, it should be after the gold medal game. I remembered analysts saying Jokic was the most consistent player all year but Embid won MVP.
last time I i looked, Steve Kerr was the coach. There are many styles of coaching. Steve coaches and you report. His job is to win, and that he did. All the post analysis means nothing. We won the Gold.
I know you don’t care but when Tatum did play he was no where near the level of lebron, KD, Steph, booker, edwards ext. Tatum is a champ thanks to Jalen Brown being so dominant and drew holiday. Tatum is good just not on that level
@@legz64 This is just the narrative from the beginning. All it takes is taking a back seat in a few games, then there is not enough volume to cover one bad game, and being attacked on defense. If you were the other team, why wouldn't you go at the 36 yo small guard? It's the smart thing to do.
I like SAS, but the rant on Kerr is embarrassing. You can't play 12 guys all the time. You have to make decisions on combinations and line-ups and what works best. Tatum in probably means LeBron or KD sit. What happens if he does that for 5mins and they lose? Kerr would be crucified.
Not a terrible take but without Bron, this team does not even get to the last two games. If Curry is not there, it may not be as dramatic but they still have guys who can make high pressure shots at a similar level starting with easy money sniper, then D Book and even Bron himself. Steph handled the ball in crunch time for a bit and kept turning the ball over carelessly. Bron covers every single gap, points, assist, boards, control tempo, make right reads, create easy buckets for others, timely defense, bodying up Jokic etc. clear MVP

Kerr knows Tatum way better then Steven A does, he knows that Tatum is a top 5 player in the world in practice or even a regular season game that has no pressure involved, but Tatum drops to a top 25 player in the league in any game that involves any type of pressure, and deep down Tatum knows this, so I don’t think he’ll hold any type of grudge against Kerr
Fr Tatum doesnt do anything special, dude is inconsistent shooting the ball, the only thing consistent is his defense, but I rather have Anthony Edwards and Dbook on floor
He's your top tier all around really good player. He doesn't excel at anything in particular but he's not a major liability on the court in most of not any scenario. If you have four guys on the court that tick off all the basketball boxes and want to sub in someone to boost an area specialty Kerr had plenty of options of guys that all did at least one thing a lot better in basketball than JT
Bron Stan’s are so weird. Bron had average stats despite having the ball most of the exhibition rounds. When they were losing and needed help, they gave Steph the ball and he saved them. They even had to sit Bron for a minute at the end of the France game and talk to him because he was off.
Why did Iguadala win the finals MVP in 2015? He showed up and denied LeBron. But throughout the 6 games, Steph was consistent. Going by the same logic Steph should have won the MVP for being consistent. But it was Iguadala because of his effects in defending James.
This is FIBA, not the NBA. The rules are different. If you want the rules changed talk to the FIBA governing body. If you want Curry to win MVP, tell him to be more consistent next Olympics.
Funny Lebron got his revenge on Andre the next year with that board block that turned the game around suddenly the Golden State players became “construction workers” in their shots! 😆

They got it done…. They barely got out of Serbia and France. The team that had 12 of the top 30 players in the world almost lost to Serbia and France that both combined have 3 of the top players in the top 30. Terrible performance
While LeBron's consistent performance has been instrumental in leading the US team to numerous victories, which earned him MVP, the impact of Curry's performance in the last two games to clinch the gold cannot be understated. @@janicerichards8959You'd be a royal mess to if you didn't get a chance to play, except for some token appearances so Kerr could avoid looking clueless. How do you not play the reigning NBA champion's best player? How do you not even pick the reigning NBA champion's MVP in Jalen Brown for the team but pick his teammates? If Tatum was fatigued because he played a longer season than any other NBA player because he played until the last game for the league, then say so.
Thank you! People ignoring the fact that he did play and did absolutely nothing to warrant more minutes or any trust to be on court during crunch time. It’s total BS to think he would have helped them do any better with more minutes. Like whose meaningful minutes was he going to take?! He missed shot after shot, committed silly fouls, and was sloppy handling the ball. Smh

Steph Curry didn’t “Win” the MVP.. but these Olympics and this historic team will forever be known for the Steph Curry Shot and the Steph Curry game.. Steph’s legacy won in the long run.
It’s crazy that no one cared about Olympic mvp until this year. KD quite literally carried us to the gold last go around and was the best player in 2016 and led the team in scoring in 2012 and dropped 30 in the gold medal game but no one cared. It’s really all media bias in how a lot of players are viewed.

It’s sounds odd when Bron Stans don’t want to give credit where it’s due. And I think Bron is great for 40 but come in. @@AR-rn8ok Bro Steph literally took the most shots on the team and lebron had the ball in his hands the most because he was the efficient player the entire tournament unless you think the coaches just gave lebron the ball for no other reason. he scored just as much as Steph while being way more efficient while leading in everything else. Steph before the final 2 games was legit the worst player on the team most inefficient player on the team and was a hole on defense. You don’t not give the guy that led in 4 major stat categories the mvp.🤦🏽♂️
You cannot have Lebron, KD, and Tatum at the same time. Tatum is a system player and requires to have the ball most of the time for him to excel. Steve Kerr got the job done in his own ways.
You are completely wrong. If you watch the celtics all year round, JT doesn't need the ball to be effective. We saw him do that in the NBA Finals!
In that sense, Tatum can be the drive and kick playmaker with KD as the primary scorer while LeBron rests on the bench 💁🏽♂ If Jaylen Brown-Jayson Tatum works, you bet that KD-JT or LeBron-JT would work. We are not saying that JT should start over KD or LeBron; we are saying that he should have been considered in the rotation, especially against Serbia who have big men.
Most y'all do t know bball. Tatum could of and should of got more bench minutes. With a better coach this team wins in landslides.

otherwise the US is fighting it out for a bronze (or silver) medal instead of winning gold. LaBron is terrific and a great team leader.
What a joy it was to see LaBron and Steph on the same team,

LaBron was a picture of consistency, and Steph had some moments in those two crucial games that will go down in history and will be watched forever in highlights. I salute them both!

Nah we can definitely get to the last two games without Bron, those games were like pre season games dawg
It's always fun to watch these online coaches.😂
😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭💀😷♥️♥️♥️♥️
Great video Stephen A!
He's nowhere near the best player in the league convo
He's your top tier all around really good player. He doesn't excel at anything in particular but he's not a major liability on the court in most of not any scenario. If you have four guys on the court that tick off all the basketball boxes and want to sub in someone to boost an area specialty Kerr had plenty of options of guys that all did at least one thing a lot better in basketball than JT
@@InfamousFunksterhe ain’t top 5 on this team pony blank period
MVP for 2 days versus consistently being the best on the field throughout the competition so do the math
Bron Stan’s are so weird. Bron had average stats despite having the ball most of the exhibition rounds. When they were losing and needed help, they gave Steph the ball and he saved them. They even had to sit Bron for a minute at the end of the France game and talk to him because he was off.
Steve Kerr won multiple championships as a player and coach. You still think he is somehow lucky?
No, but he was surrounded by some really great players.
Never enough...... brought home gold and we STILL complain..... Kerr was coaching not trying to massage egos....
Yes!!! This!!! I've been telling people this!!!!!!!!!!
If Steve Kerr was wrong, so is Tyronn Lue and Erik Spoelstra.
Highly doubt all 3 of them was wrong with a Gold 🥇
It was VERY oblivious that Curry was the MVP ! But the media & Nike always find a way to push these secret narratives & agendas for lebron like it’s visible at this point !!!
They got it done…. They barely got out of Serbia and France. The team that had 12 of the top 30 players in the world almost lost to Serbia and France that both combined have 3 of the top players in the top 30. Terrible performance
Steve Kerr is not a good coach
While LeBron's consistent performance has been instrumental in leading the US team to numerous victories, which earned him MVP, the impact of Curry's performance in the last two games to clinch the gold cannot be understated. His exceptional play during these crucial moments will indeed be a highlight when reflecting on this tournament. It's the ability to perform under pressure that often cements a player's legacy, and Curry certainly rose to the occasion. Night! Night!
Steph the 🐐
Please enough with the Kerr drama, man you need to let it go!
