“Hiring someone is not a decision to be taken lightly and the more people we add to the team the more complexity of communication increases and the more things slow down” - Beautifully said Ali!
Wow! It's amazing to see how your UA-cam channel has grown to the point where you now have 12 employees! Your dedication and hard work have truly paid off, and it's inspiring to see how you're creating job opportunities for others through your content. Your success is a testament to your creativity, talent, and commitment to your audience. Keep up the great work, and we can't wait to see what you'll achieve next!
This is awesome, hands down my personal favorite video on UA-cam to date! It's really interesting to see the contrast from running a very lean channel on UA-cam vs how fun and sustainably scalable this looks. Thanks for putting this together, looking at your accelerator program now 👍
I absolutely love that you are considering you to be the happiest person you know, that to me is the best thing to get inspired by. I forgot that I had that as my goal during my depression.
Your process of creating, teaching, and managing is really amazing. The amount of things you do is wild. I've been learning a lot from you these past years. Thank you for sharing.
Oh my goodness, I love this episode so so much, thanks for sharing team! This reminds me of when I used to work at a start up company(10 year old start up lol) which my role was in Alison, then I got divided into a few pieces of doing many other things at the same time, then eventually it causes me to have a mental break down lol. It is so awesome and therapeutic to see that you got an diverse team members and doing the things they love and proud of you! Keep it up you all! You will do amazing! Congrats on getting the 5M audience! Whoot Whoot! My name is Jessie, I'm from Calgary Canada, if you need any help to arranging upcoming Ali world tour, feel free to let me know! Happy to help! Cheers! :))
Thank you! I love the way you think and take things easy! I am not aware of any youtuber who is so open and honest about BTS, whether it's personal finance, business, or now your employee management system! Kudos 👏
Ali Abdaal’s video on why he hired 12 employees was incredibly insightful for aspiring content creators. It shows how having a dedicated team allows for better focus on quality content and scalability for growth. As a content creator, this video emphasizes the importance of considering hiring employees to delegate tasks and improve overall productivity.
I like how diverse your team is, Ali, I think that's very important in terms of generating fresh ideas, bringing different perspectives to the table, etc. Great video, btw!
Can't appreciate you enough on how this video is valuable to me. You can't really understand the knowledge I've picked from this video and it will indeed help me in strategizing the best way forward for my channel. God bless you Ali. This was really helpful
Ali and team, please bring back the day in a life/ productive day in a life videos. I have already rewatched all of em so many times while having lunch and dinner. It would be nice to have new day in a life video for the lunch and dinner content consumption.
🎉 I’m a freelance writer and magazine editor who recently started my own hyper-local newsletter (to hopefully grow into a brand), Community Connections. I’m hoping to one day be able to employee other creatives and help them live their dream! Thanks for sharing this and continuing to inspire me!
Awesome and love the transparency. Also, inadvertently made me feel amazing about myself, knowing I've built to 100K followers across all platforms while doing most of all of these things on my own. So looking forward to the day when I need to bring on more full time work... inspiring!
Great content as always Ali! :) It's cool to see each role in your team to have autonomy/ownership to bring contents to life across many platforms. I'm wondering if your team / Angus uses certain production methodology in the content creation process? E.g. Scrum, daily standup, weekly sync, dependencies/impediments resolve, etc.
Very insightful :) When I was making let's plays, the amount of video rditing time was punishing... totally understand why you have the team and the content produced is awesome. Keep it up folks :)
Thanks for this video. I’ve been thinking about when I would want to hire someone to help with my job and channel. Right now I just hire grad students and postdocs for research work, but I need help in other ways too
Hi Ali! Would love to know about what tools you use to work with your team and more the operational side of it (meetings, teamwork and solo work, tools and apps, work hours, etc)
Out of curiosity, when you're in a team meeting. What is your approach when you are discussing specific topics (e.g. video editing) that might not be relevant to other members of the team? Is it expected that the others members still attend and learn from the other areas of the business?
Sort of. We have an all-hands meeting for 90 mins each week where we discuss big stuff. But if it’s a minor thing about video editing we wouldn’t discuss it in that meeting, it would be discussed afterwards

Making transparency into content is a brilliant move.
Do what others are afraid to do!
We appreciate the fact that you're considerate and generous towards your own employees. God bless you all.

Thanks for sharing, Ali! You inspire many people to show their work and try to get into the creator economy.
It is fascinating to see how you and your general manager take care of a large team of 12 to 14 employees which has its challenges.
Super interesting to see the backend of what you're doing. Love these type of vids!
