    I fitted new boards in my bathroom, and I screwed the boards down. I later decided to get new central heating installed. The so-called heating engineer didn't bother to unscrew the boards, he ripped them out with a crowbar destroying my work. I had to replace all the boards he had damaged. A costly job.

    Thank you for the video. Very useful and encouraging for a novice like me. I've got old 1950s flat floor nails in my floorboards and I'm wondering what tools could be good for removing those if some are left behind after the old floorboards come up.
    Great backing soundtrack by the way. What's the soundtrack? I'd like to hear more of that.

    Enjoyed the Video. What is the benefit to using the floor boards as opposed to Plywood or OSB?

      I actually prefer moisture resistant chipboard flooring myself as there are no creeks when put down correctly, the only reason I used floorboards is because it was an insurance job so it has to go back the same.

    Should there be a gap between each board or just an expansion gap around the edge of the room?

    • @worklife4221
      @worklife4221  5 місяців тому

      The board I laid was tongue & groove so expansion around the edges, where other boards which have a gap between them that is your expansion gap.

    Hi mate, how do you go about floorboards that run under block walls? Do you simply cut up them flush to the wall?

    • @ipfishing1466
      @ipfishing1466 5 місяців тому +2

      Yes mate just make sure that you put in new timber to carry the new boards if necessary

    Would you not use the opportunity to insulate the floor?

    • @worklife4221
      @worklife4221  8 днів тому +1

      Didn’t insulate as this was an insurance job and has to go back like for like unless the customer wants to pay for it and in this case they didn’t want to.

    Where do you buy your floorboards from please as I have to do the same job and prices seem crazy

    • @worklife4221
      @worklife4221  4 місяці тому

      I brought these from Travis Perkins and yes prices are mental.

  • @straiph
    @straiph 5 місяців тому

    Would it be beneficial adding insulation? & Why have you not used whole lengths?

    • @worklife4221
      @worklife4221  5 місяців тому +1

      Its an insurance job so there was no insulation before so unless the customer wants to pay for it which they didn't, then I am not allowed to put it back , and the customer wanted staggered joints not long lengths , does that answer your question?

    • @straiph
      @straiph 5 місяців тому

      It does... thanks for taking the time to answer my question 😊

      The customer wanted it screwed down and it was having carpet over it

  • @VictorVictor-hq7ui
    @VictorVictor-hq7ui 3 місяці тому

    Use clamps. Do a good job, even if they are being covered with carpet. Do it right.
