This is one of the best musicians in the Netherlands and is truly under appreciated. He has been involved in so many great bands and projects. Happy to see his succes with Altin Gun!
LOVE ALTIN GUN! saw them support tame Impala in Colorado! Absolutely blew me away! His collection is insane! Thanks for inviting him to do this! I’d love to figure out how he hung his records like that, very cool!
Yesterday I was listening to some Altın Gün. When I finished I felt like listening to some Bagcan. Now I can see the connection is even more straight forward than I could have thought!
Yeah exactly. It's a shame they couldn't get the whole band to do some since they're from all over but I'm glad they're dipping into more world music picks. They could do a whole hour on the records they've covered in their albums. Hopefully they reach for some more non-English picks with the options of Quarantine episodes.
You are not going to cure narrow-mindedness with more narrow-mindedness. You could just as easily said I like that he is into music that is from different places. Or diverse. Or anything that isn't trying to drag someone else down. What is being taught now is still hate and ignorance.
Zafer Dilek .. was? Has he passed away? That LP Oyun Havalari, is so rare..it is sold for 400 euros.. That album is simply amazing. Especially the second part (the one that starts with Cicekler Ekiliyor) It is the album that got me into turkish 70 psychedlic. And of course you guys are amazing as well!! Cheers from Israel
I've never heard of this band, went to go check them out after this WIMB vid. Goodness me, they are phenomenal! Do check them out, you won't be disappointed!
In the early 90's my local DJ used to play Hamid Baroudi but, for some reason, would never tell me what it was. Well, the reason is because he was a dick. So, thanks!!! Also, Selda is great. I haven't heard that one, but I'll order it now. I haven't heard of Altin Gun either, but these were some cool picks! I'll check out his band, too. Edit: I just looked and I do have that Selda LP - cool!
@@jorgenegeland Do you mean The Future Crayon? Berberian Sound Studio? Or that one with Focus Group? Great records, but a collection, a score and a collaboration. They have only three official studio-albums and sadly - since Trish passed away - there will never be another one.
@@jorgenegeland Yes, that's a great counter-example, since that soundtrack became so much more famous than the movie and is regarded so highly as an important part of Davis' body of work. But in general these kind of records (albums, soundtracks, live-albums, EP's, collaborations, compilations, etc) get separated, it's just a semantic convention, and so when Verhulst talks about Broadcast's '3 albums', it doesn't mean he doesn't know about the other projects that this band has released. Of course such a fan knows them all.
I find it odd when musicians choose music that's nothing but canned beats and programmed sounds, personally I want to hear real people playing real instruments, organic over synthetic if you like

this group is awsome
Yes! One of the best bands.
Get more musicians outside the anglosphere like this well dressed chap. They bring us some truly obscure greatness.
thats a white dutch man. don't praise white men

Altin Gün rules!!
Great album references.
I love Altin Gün. Thanks for doing this.
Yol is one of the best albums of 2021
Love Altın Gün, as well as Jasper's taste in music. That Zafer Dilek's album is gold!
This is the closest that What's in My Bag has come to ASMR. This dude's voice was relaxing.

he definitely has very deep taste. Reminds me of Mayer Hawthorne in a way.
