Saw these guys live twice...one of the few bands I've seen that are better live than on the recordings. Killer stage presence, musicianship, and energy. They're single-handedly responsible for making me realise that Turkey used to be, and maybe still is, cool as fuck. Is anyone making original music like this in modern Turkey? Apparently Anatolian rock fizzled out after the military coup in 1980.
@@JiosXvocals are from turkey rest are from Netherlands afaik. The band was started by the bass player with a Facebook post asking for people that can sing in Turkish.
This band reminds me of the Anatolian Rock Revival Project, a fantastic UA-cam channel known for showcasing Turkish 70s psychedelic rock gems. Sending love to everyone, and I must confess, your Saz player has caught my eye .
Nice one! Also on Spotify there is a playlist called altin gun’s Turkish delight which is a collection of influential tracks 🙌🏽 my all time favourites are GURBET (ozdemir erdogan) and ayrilik olds bile by Esmeray. Gonna check this channel thanks!!!! Ooh also islandman boiler room set and montreux jazz set 🙌🏽
I love this band, I have followed them through all their changes. Lots of band member changes over the years. The bass player in this band is superb in my opinion. A rock solid rhythm section, understated playing but so essential to the sound. I salute you Sir.
Every musician in this band is incredibly talented, plus the songs… killer combo. Agree that the rhythm section is pretty near perfection, have seen them live and it’s even better than any recording, flawless ever time. Amazing how easy the bass player makes it seem
Omg i just love this band. I still can't believe Merve is not part of it anymore T-T. Good thing i had the oportunity to watch them perform live last november (Gdl, Mex.). Glad also to share some words and hang out with Erdinç, Jasper, Thijs and Chris. I hope the best for the band and obviously for Merve. Thank you KEXP for letting me know about Altın Gün since that performance back in 2017.
I love the band, it's very sat to hear that Merve is leaving. I saw then in México and was mesmerized and deligthed with their show, looking forward to seeing them this year individually. Much succes and love to Merve and may Altin Gun last us many years, i love them ando hope to SEE them soon.
All my favorite Altin Gün songs in an epic performance! What can I wish more! It's so sad that Merve is leaving. I wish her all the best for her future career.
This was unexpected. I adore this band! Sure hope I get to see them live some day. Doktor Civanim is my favorite track from this! Keep on being you Altin Gün!
need ideas for a collab of the century? Altin Gün x King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. that would kick a$$ and we would all meet in a different dimension
Making a new album is not a thing for Altin Gun because they are playing as studio-quality even when they are warm up... İstanbul'dan sevgiler, konserdeydim, mest olduk, yine bekleriz!!!
Altin Gün announced that solist Merve decided to leave band, she will accompany band in their tour but then she will leave, sad, hope they will find another female solist soon. Greetings from capital city Ankara of Turkiye 🇹🇷
Intersting to see Jacco Gardner credited as the Audio Mixer here. Jasper originally was his bass Player for his live, and the original guitar player of Altin Gun was also touring with Gardner. Is Jacco Gardner working for Kexp now or touring with altin gun as their audio engineer? I wish he would make another album too.
Being a presenter on KEXP must be the best job in the world 😄
100%. Sign me up!
Hell yeah this bassist goes hard! What a groove
The best of Anatoly Music

A good thing that Erkin Koray introduced the electronic baglama to the world! The one that plays it does a real good job. Awesome music!
Orhan Gencebay'ı es geçmeyelim tabi. Ki Erkin baba çok severdi kendisini.
Fun to watch these fantastic fellow Dutchies perform Turkish music across the ocean! Very well done!
