Loved the watermelon cutting vid.. but I think using the same method for the cantaloupe would be better... make your flat side, cut off the ends.... cut in half and cut off the rind, and cube. You rock! Thanks for the help :)
I found a few seeds that started to sprout in my sink and I moved them to a little pot to grow. It was growing for a while but then I forgot to water it a few days and then it kinda died.... going to try to repeat the process to see if I can sprout another one in my sink... :-)
Thank you for washing it first. They've all been laying on the ground and need it before cutting into it. I use soap too, but I slice from the top with the grain - it cuts easier
Nice video! First time watching but I really like your style. Quiet, to the point, and informative. Very much appreciated the advice you shared outside of just cutting. Thanks for sharing!
Well, I did it this way for years until the knife slipped and I cut my hand. No more. I now cut the melon in half and scoop out all seeds. Now I place the cut side down on a clean cutting board and using my 6” knife, I cut off all the skin following the curve of the cantaloupe. I’m cutting away from myself and the skin comes right off in two or three inch wide sections. Bam! Then you proceed cutting into wide slices or whatever and then cut the other direction and you have chunks. I think you save more fruit this way and it’s far easier at least for me.
@@homecookbasics I still got the info! No worries. The soap doesn’t say for washing Fruits and vegetables, right? And, disregard the haters comments, your videos are informative and easy to understand and if someone doesn’t know how to use a knife to cut fruits or vegetables ah…let mama do it.
@@patriciabeetschen1329 I dont worry about the haters...fun reading sometime. Check this lady out- she's is the granddaughter of the founder of the soap. She has a recipe for washing veggies. www.lisabronner.com/washing-produce-with-dr-bronners/
I got one of these for cheap but for pre cut chunks it's like 10 dollars. Get the same amount of food for more like why is it 10 dollars for one melon pre cut into chunks. I get if it was 1 or 2 dollars more but it's like 8 dollars more for pre cut is insane.
Rookie moves you don’t need a large knife for this, this is small knife job pal. Cantaloupe when ripe is nice and soft you can use a small butter knife to slide through and get every piece of cantaloupe needed for your hot summer picnic brother.
This is NOT how you cut a melon into chunks. Ffs guy, do your own research before trying to teach something. You cut the ends, slice the rind off, cut in half, scoop the seeds, then cut into chunks.
Sorry for this cutting method it's wrong, cut your cantaloupe and melon skins, the same way you cut pineapple and watermelon skins, I wasted 5 minutes of my time with this video.
Never thought I would need to look this up 😂
Lol...people do!
Hahaha me either but here I am😭 I saw a big cantaloupe in the fruit bowl and wanted to cut it😭
Dude same
Same here lmaoo
😂😂😂same
I actually just cut up a cantaloupe following your technique ! THANKS!
Fantastic!
Was here 2 years ago, back again, gonna upvote every time in the next 20 years I come back here to re learn how to cut one
Don't use this technique. You will slice your finger off, there are so much easier ways.
"The riper the fruit, the easier it is to cut" I will never forget those words. Thank you Bob
Your welcome!

Good stuff! Glad to help.
The only video that washed the Melon 🍈. I saw on the news to not cut into the Melon because of the bacteria. Thanks for the video.
Video starts at 1:20
Thank you, and thanks for washing the fruit. I’m undergoing chemotherapy treatments and my fruits and vegetables HAVE to be super clean.
I hope you’re doing well!

If you have an ice cream scoop with the trigger its the easiest for scooping out seeds

Never watched a video and this is how I did it. Was hoping for faster/better…

I work in produce and nobody taught me how to cut a cantaloupe. Here I am.
Did you have to cut them?
@@homecookbasics Yes I did. Video was a lifesaver. 👍

Lol maybe my Mom had the wrong soil!
Not sure if you watch the show Survivor but you give me Boston Rob vibes lol. Thanks for the video!!
Lol 😆 I remember that show.
Thank you!
Gettysburg, PA I get softball sized cantaloupe. No bigger. 2 years in a row.....
Not warm enough?
Much easier facing cantaloupe skin up. I did it 180 but still worked. Hey know I know. Thanks.
Glad it helped!
I just tried the method of using a bread knife to cut off all the outer peel first and I found it easier! :)
Thats great news for you!

Which Dr. Brauner’s soap?
Lol I commented on the wrong post.

Not me sitting here thinking why tf would I wash the outside of it?…until he explains and makes total sense
I watched this video for work- Was told there was an easier way- peeling it before you cut it up (like a pineapple) faster
"i keep these seeds so i can plant my own cantaloupe"
me : "for real"
him: just kidding
It’s a little hard but it works!
Thanks for this quick tutorial 😊
Very welcome
Thank you :)
No problem 😊
What’s the soap you used?
www.lisabronner.com/washing-produce-with-dr-bronners/ only for fruits and veggie similar, never on berries, etc.
Had cantaloupe grow in horse manure/composting pile. Deer got a couple but a few survived.
LOL
My parents grew them in Pa and they where about this size you’re cutting
Thank you 😔
Thanks for UA-cam shorts
Glad you like them!
Which end of the melon do you test, dude? (And Go, Red Sox!)
Nice lopes. Are you the guy who did Jack Chop?
I have been eating cantaloupe my whole life without washing the skin first... never got sick or anything, guess I built up an immunity 💪😂
Ya sometimes I over do it.
Helpful! 😊
Glad it was helpful!
I tried growing cantaloupe in the north east. Biggest mistake of my life. My family won’t even talk to me anymore.
LOL, I remember them as a kid from my mothers garden, they were the size of an orange.

thanks
I was so proud of myself after cutting my first cantaloupe 🍈 I was very disappointed because it wasn’t that good
Was it not ripe yet?
Idk why the traditional way is the most popular way cause it’s DEFINITELY NOT the most convenient
God bless
Same 2 you!
There's more than one way to skin a cantaloupe.
LOL
Very cantaloupe moment
Right when I paused at 3:02 I cut my thumb on my first slice
don't forget to add salt :)
Yep, and try it with a dash of pepper as well. Change your life!
I add honey or hot sauce lol 😆
@@Teal_Moon I'll have to try that. Good with Tajin as well.
Interesting, I will try it.
Awesome thank you!
You're welcome!
I’ve always used a melon baller
this is slow can u do it quicker or use a diff method for being quicker like if ur needing to prep a lot
Just can’t get past that hat! 😉
Don't tell me your a Yankees fan!
@@homecookbasics I won’t tell you. 😉. But hey, at least there’s cantaloupe!
NYY
I just want to know how to cut a cantaloupe and not all the extra stuff. But thank you
There are plenty of other videos out there for you, some people like the "other stuff" check out some shorts
nice hat
For sure!
Too much hustle!! i will stick to apples! LOL😅

finally
I asked my mom, she said No
i gotta critique bud. you're telling people with unrefined knife skill to slice with the blade i'm directly at their fingers. really bad advice.
This is too much im just gonna eat it the way god intended
Did not Look safe, never cut towards your hand
Took forever, there are faster methods. 🔪 Your knife skills are questionable. #cookingfail #needsmorepractice
Sorry for this cutting method it's wrong, cut your cantaloupe and melon skins, the same way you cut pineapple and watermelon skins, I wasted 5 minutes of my time with this video.
did you seriously waste 1.5 minutes showing us how to was it?
slow
Thank you!
