As I move my teaching buisness into the virtual world, I have been saying many of the things you talked about, which has become road blocks for me. Your insight and "just do it" attitude is what I needed to hear. Thanks for the motivation!!
Hope you guys enjoyed the video! Which of these Topics would you like me to dig deeper into? 1.) Cameras? 2.) Audio? 3.) Editing? Comment and let me know!
Hi Brandon, really enjoyed your video. It would be great to find out more about uploading to facebook and instagram as I am finding a lot of videos I post seem to look great when watching back but when I upload them they come out hazy and blurry. Is there a specific ratio, fpm, or aspect you need to be aware of? Thanks.
Brandon...this is why YOU ARE THE MAN! I really enjoyed this. I love that there are drummers out there that are just trying to inspire other drummers. You have to be a super humble guy to put out a video like this. I'm an old dog, I can play, but I know very little about the Audio/Video part of the process. This is REALLY INSPIRING STUFF...🤘🥁🔥
I've been making videos and loving it, absolutely fucking loving it for myself, but it is pretty discouraging when nobody watches. Your words have inspired me man. Thank you for this. I can already see the huge progress i've made as a musician and a drummer. Shit, even a entry level sound engineer now. I really needed this. Don't stop!
Dude, this is great. I just started filming drum covers and after the second or third one I just got the hang of it and it even seems easy now. Iphone camera and audio can do the job more than well and it´s real fun and really good to see your playing from the outside, too.
Great video and great message ! I've been making drum videos for 6 to 7 years now. It is by far the best way to track your progress in my opinion. It's exciting. Seeing the progress through the years, getting proud of your own content, looking back to where you were a couple years ago and having a good laugh at it. :') Making drum videos is actually pretty awesome. It gets frustrating from time to time and yes it's time consuming. But looking back, I would not change a single thing. Don't be afraid to go on your own journey. Don't feel bad for not being at that Brandon Scott video skills point yet *starts sobbing*. Don't be too harsh on yourselves and go for it :D Thanks Brandon for this amazing video (again). Much love
Fantastic video!! I started 6 months ago with an old Canon camcorder I borrowed and my 2 older iphones. Dove right into DaVinci Resolve as a video editing newbie, watched a gazillion videos on editing, lighting, film making, photography etc... 26 videos later I have a Canon M50, Canon Rebel SL3 and that camcorder I am still borrowing. Went nuts on Amazon and added lighting, gimbal, teleprompter. Point is you are absolutely right when you say that it is a journey and you grow and watch your progress. You're awesome! keep up the great work!!
Dude, you’re content is always top notch! I just started a few months ago with making videos and couldn’t relate anymore to this. Thanks for what you do, man!
I really really appreciate the fact that you kept returning to the idea that IT TAKES TIME. I often get worked up over the fact that I can’t be good at something or have all this equipment RIGHT NOW, and I need to take a step back and realize all that will come with time as long as I keep working at it. That concept is applicable to almost anything in life.
Brandon, im 51 and was very hesitant to do videos (though I do have a few shot purely with a smartphone), now I feel like I can actually do this. Thanks!!!
I wished I could give you 10 thumbs up for this video, great inspiration! You are highest talented in making videos and it’s amazing fun to watch them! Thank you!
I have seen many instructional videos on making promotional videos (I even have a copy of Ableton that I started to work with) but this one of the best (in terms of dealing with newbies like me). The bit that talks about “lining up” bits really needs expansion eg line up what, with what by doing what. It was overall 8 out of 10, very informative, very enthusiastic & presented well. Thanks mate.
@Brandon Scott. This video hit home. I really appreciate the information shared. You have no idea how much this has helped me. It would be an honor if you could record another video showing how you: a) record your audio and video and then b) deep dive into the editing, Thanks Brandon
I just started my filming journey at 29, and man it's super frustrating at the start, but learning how to edit reminds me of the process of progressing at the kit!
I loved this video. I started doing some drum covers and I had no idea what I was really doing but turns out I wasn't far off! Thank you. Really made me feel better.
Totally on point bro! I really appreciate how you communicate your ideas. Point is that we have to start slowly and if we enjoy it, we don’t necessarily have to learn everything, we will get shit done and improve naturally, or dig further for support/education to reach our goals. You are a cool dude, man. Keep being a cool dude.
This was very well put together!!🤙🏼 My biggest problem was a space/studio to set up my drums...But once I found a semi permanent spot to set them up, I got to recording and I don’t plan on stopping! Thanks man!!
Love the video. Drummers should absolutely leave room in their budget for recording and filming. It gives you tremendous insight into your technique and will make you a better player!
This was an amazing wake up call!! I have all these things so I SHOULD upload some content more consistently!!!! Btw thanks man! This was a phenomenal video!
Thank you so much! I've been trying to shoot a cover two years ago (2020 had some spare time lol) And I couldn't get the audio and video sync at editing level. You made want to try again, thnx
Thanks for this Brandon, it's great! I recently started my own yt channel even if I don't have great gear to record etc... I will upgrade everything step by step, but at least... I started!! Have a good one!
Dude! Thank you! I am getting into editing and filming with just using my iPhone. Gotta make do with what ya got! (In more ways than one) ...Meaning, my drum space! Learning what areas of my room sound like and how to play to achieve a better sound. Fun and interesting challenges for sure! I’m still trying to figure out what I wanna put out on my channel, so I’m just kind of throwing some things out haha.
I have been uploading my drumremixes to UA-cam for 2 months now. It is just such a cool hobby to have in a crazy time like this. It keeps me occupied, educated and I am making progress each time I upload a video. Also, using an electronic drumset keeps the costs very low, if you already own one.
I just started uploading onto UA-cam about three weeks ago and I love it! I have basic camera but good monitors and drums so it's a start! I'm hoping I can get a Go Pro soon so I can have at least two angles in my videos!! I also subbed man! Great vid! 👍
ok so a few problems I've come across while making drum vids: Most of the songs I want to cover have a copyright and I can't drag it to iMovie. I also rather have drumless tracks of the songs I want to cover. But I've mostly started writing loops to combat this. If you could answer this, that would also be amazing. also as a side note, thank you again for helping me with juries back college on Alter Ego by Anika Nilles. That phone call with you really helped.
Hey man! thats awesome! Not sure what you mean by not being able to drag it to imovie! You should be able to have the mp3 in the timeline without being able to have it copyrighted. things only get copyrighted when you're up on youtube and the video uses other peoples music/content. also, drumless tracks work great too but depending on how popular the song is YT might still give it a copyright strike! Hope you're well man! Thanks for still watching my vids
I used to edit my audio with midi sounds 🙄, but since few days I use my camera audio and equalization/compression in the editing part and the audio is goddaaaaaam good
Fuck I love this dude's content. So damn authentic, no bullshit, appeals to the average joe. So frickin helpful and inspiring.
"Do you guys not have phones?" - that weird year at Blizzcon
Had to look this up but pretty hilarious haha
LOL 😂

Wow Neil, this comment made my freaking day! Thats the reason I make these videos and I'm so glad the advice I pass along is appreciated.

I’m almost 39 years old just started drums maybe 2 years ago. This video is probably one of the better ones I’ve came across. Thx
Thanks for this inspiring video, Brandon!
The mere truth I do not understand even a little English but I like to see your videos for all the production they have, editing everything
