There was a time when people just enjoyed the experience. Now, people are more concerned with getting a decent shot to post. Most of these people will never watch the video they posted.
There was a time when people just enjoyed the experience. Now, people are more concerned if they have a couple of extra bucks to put in there car just to make it to work. I personally enjoyed the experience of watching the first two shows in Asheville & enjoyed videoing the third for the people that couldn’t travel or afford the tickets. Happy Thanksgiving Gene. I’m Thankful to watch concerts on UA-cam I can’t get tickets to.
@@HollerLandUSA it was partially a lament for a different time, and partially a lament for people who go to their kid's concert, and record it only to lose the experience itself, and never watch the video.
There are so many people who are so concerned with recording an "experience" that they never actually HAVE the experience in the first place. Do you get what I'm saying?
@@uadimwit I do. Music & Concerts are good for the soul. It’s a different time & many moments are missed looking down at our phones or watching a show behind a camera lens. I enjoy both aspects of getting the shot & watching it live. In this particular show I recorded half Billy’s songs. I danced & grooved the other half. I’m proud to have had the opportunity to share with others & enjoy reading that others who couldn’t attend enjoyed watching.
Hey mate went to a show the other day for the first time in years and I noticed the young people are all filming it.while us older folks danced and drank and had much more fun.
@@dbrutiger8232 I was deep in it on a long Saturday back in ‘08 or ‘09 up on Poppy Mountain in Kentucky. I’ll never know who was on stage but I was on a 20x20 concrete slap thinking about dancing. My hiking boots were light & dry as a feather in my mind, as I started in clogging. A clog almost like the lady beside. “I’m Dina” she hollared “Dip Me!”
Now dipping I can do… just hadn’t had much experience with the clog+dip.
I’d remember what Dina looked like if she yelp again like she did that day.
I’d like to think Ralph Stanley was on stage when I broke her fall with my face & my knee cap. When she popped right back up & I rolled over & brushed off on my backside; Whoever was up there whipped up a helping of “Shady Grove” like you’ve never heard before.
I’m a sober video guy now rooting for the drinkers, the cloggers, the dancers & the dippers. If a dip drops or Shady Grove pops I’d like to catch it so we both can remember who’s on stage.
Welp, I'm 71 fuckin' years old & saw Black Sabbath at the Fillmore East. That was a kick ass cover.
how ironic, I'm 54 and just the other day I told someone "I used to listen to Sabbath and Motorhead" but now I listen to Billy Strings........well shucks. I can still bang my head, just get double vision now when I do. lol Thanks for posting! fun fun fun

Makes me happy when a kid starts up the intro to a Zep tune and the crowd gets it right away. Great cover, all the mystical depth.
A friend turned me onto Billy a couple of years ago, but he was doing country/bluegrass. Doing a great job on Zep. Can’t wait to hear War Pigs!
Hands down the brightest star in the musical universe even if he is largely unknown by the masses.
The masses are mostly morons who will listen to whatever the record label execs and mainstream radio stations tell them to listen to.

I just found this guy? Does he do original music too? I've seen about 6 or 7 of his videos and they are all killer covers of great songs by great bands like this one. I am really loving this guy a this band. Great vibe.

Listening and watching a "new" artist like Billy cover these two classic rock tunes only proves how deeply cemented LZ and BS are in musical history. Near the end of War Pigs, Billy has his eyes closed while he plays, as if it's an almost spiritual experience. And these songs are still monuments along the path of any righteous guitarist. The past is in good hands.
If Mr. Strings continues to add all these classic songs to his repertoire, the list of guitar players I want on my desert Island might need to be updated.
A great rock song stays great even 53 years after it’s been released. And when it’s played by great musicians, it just keeps getting better like fine wine.
Even more how cool is it to hear so many people under 30 enjoying traditional music even if it is a twist on an old classic still played in traditional style what a wonderful Renaissance
Mr. Strings is an awesome guitarist no matter what he plays. I'm impressed 100%.

What a fabulous, totally committed performance of "Battle". The mandolin guitar fiddle interplay perfectly underpinned one of the most moving duets I've ever heard.

His real name is William Apostel which is just as cool as Strings imo. There's a huge rabbit hole to fall into if you like him!

It's awesome to see them perform "Battle"...i was wondering when they'd ever cover that song.... Really awesome cover, HOWEVER, they shoulda featured Jarrod more on the mando since the original is a mando song... Better yet, Billy should ditched the geetar altogether, pick up a mandolin and do a duet with Jarrod... THAT woulda been [even more] epic!!
He was showing the bass player the progression through that small section of the song. Great awareness and remembering to walk over.
Someone needs to dose all these crazy world leaders let them have a mystical experience and we can all live in a good world simple
