Have a cl500 with full factory amg specification on a 51 plate. Absolutely adore that car and I also have a few motors! Mines lowered and on 20’s but other than that it’s still as it came with a list of £129,300 in todays money which is a lot for a 500 and not a 55 !
My 2005 CL55 has a Weistec 630 kit with lots of cooling mods and 608 rwhp. It passes most everything besides a gas station. I get 7-9 mpg around town and can get 16-20 on the highway depending on speed. With under 90k my ABC is super nice and I could not imagine a better car for the money.
Love your enthausium for the CL. I've enjoyed a CL500 for 5 years now and agree entirely with your appraisal. I would add the super smooth steering, power delivery and ride that just cosset you so nicely. As you so rightly said it's how a car makes you feel and my CL500 hits a perfect spot for me.
I have one for over a year now and I’m still in love! It’s just soo good. It’s never let me down and I’ve done over 10,000 kms. A future classic. Buy a god one and watch it grow in value. Nothing like it. You said everything I love about it too. Terrific review.
Had a facelift CL500 for 12 years now, zero big problems or bills during my ownership but I do maintain it myself. Some have been owned by cheapskates and careless people due to the depreciation recently but buy a good one and they are fantastic.
A great ride for the price, I'm slowly looking for a wide boy SEC but the prices are insane. The CLK55AMG is also under priced, £10K buys a mint one to..

Non-supercharged CL55? Thats a mistake mate? 55’s only came with one motor…the 5.4L supercharged m113k. The dual tip (instead of quad tip) exhaust was a dead giveaway. Either someone swapped the exhaust before you bought it or you have a rebadged CL500.
If you say this car is cheap, just wait until you have to change the brakes. And god forbid if something happens to the ABC suspension. Would you mind showing us your insurance bill?
That big body coupe is Arguably the best looking Mercedes Benz they've ever designed.
I drove my 2005 CL55 to over 225,000 miles before I sold it.
Perfect car, especially after replacing the ABC system with coil-overs.

I've owned my 2004 CL55 since 2010. Absolutely love driving the car. The supercharger brings the M113 to life.

i just bought a 2004 CL500 i wanna supercharge and was luck enough to buy mine with ABC deleted and put on coils, and a gnarly exhaust system

m113K was a superior engine. I do like the N/A version but the supercharged cars were far from being unreliable

Steering wheel has wood on it it's a cl500 cl55s had all leather steering wheels.
yup and single pipes but this is before 2003 so its different not supercharged

The CL 55 comes in 2 variants. Before 2002 they are non supercharged
From 2003 they come with the supercharger mate
