Lovely to see. I had one new in 1967 when I was 21, Guards red same as that. Wire wheels, radial ply tyres 2 speed heater fan and overdrive on 3d and 4th were all extra..
This car is in phenomenal condition, it was made using mild steel with no rust protection back then, only oil on the coil it was made from. In the 90s zinc coated steel was introduced which is widely used by all car makers, I worked for British steel as a quality inspector so I know what different types of steel were used ie GP ( general perpose) for inner body parts and FF ( full finish) for outer body panels.
Has this had a respray? If not is the original paint single stage ie no clear coat? Do you have to be careful polishing when if it's single stage paint?
This was painted around ten years ago and has had some other parts painted as well, so some panels are single stage and some are clear coated. For me its the same process for both types of paint but I definitely blow out my pads more on the single stage 👍
@@cornwallcarcare8959 thanks for the response! I'm saving up for one so good to know I can gloss it up when needed. I see a lot of classic paint at shows that is quite swirly and it got me wondering if it was safe to polish.
@@bretthouslop5461 I think one of the main reasons why they dont polish them is because every time you polish you remove paint, so that's why on this one I wasn't going for scratch removal and just trying to add as much gloss as possible while only removing less than 1um of paint.
It's actually just being stripped with body off and full engine and diff + gearbox rebuilds plus a little bit of paintwork so this will be coming back in once it's back together 👌

Cheers bud, this was definitely one of my favourites to do so far. You can't beat a clean classic vehicle 👌.

Thanks for the comment, The owner loves this car and if anything needs doing it gets done straight away 👍

That is stunning
Thanks Andrew 👍
I can 100% guarantee that that car didn’t come out of the triumph factory anywhere near as good as that….that’s a peach
