Thank you so much! It was 108 degrees outside in the middle of a heat wave and my house doesn’t have AC! It was so hot and I was worried about my pets overheating and I was so hot myself and you saved me from a total breakdown haha. So quick and easy. I appreciate you so much!!
Thank you for taking us through the step-by-step process. You kept me from having a meltdown (literally) as I installed my B/D aircon last night in my 88-degree apartment. You made it simple and clear!
Thank you so much. I was too intimidated to buy one of these but now I’m not. I’m so glad I finally understand what that foam is for! And how great I can use this with a vertical window!
Purchased: August 2022 - still works GREAT! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn I live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!
Thank you Just A Dad! I don't have a father and have wanted to install one of these for a while. Air is blowing cold! 😊 Tip: It is easy to connect the hose connector to the window slider if you keep the top of the window open and use your hand to click the slider against the hose connector (instead of trying to push from the hose side, push on the other side of the slider.) Easy as air conditioner pie!

I bought one of these Thursday and it works great. The north side of my house feels like a furnace. It cooled my room in about 20 minutes, and I mean icy cool. The only problem is the windrow adapter, it sucks. I have to bring it to work and make a better vent system.
Hey thank you so much for the straightforward walkthrough, great video my friend. I had never used one of the uprights before and the instruction book was kind of drawn out and a little complicated. Your video was perfect.
Many thanks for the video which gives a good overview of what is involved in installing an AC. May I ask you a question. I have horizontal sliding windows that are only 17 inches tall. I will have to cut the window panel so that it fits. How would you cut the panel?
So where does the drain hose go after attaching it to the drain tube? Mine is used and I'm missing the drain hose. I will try to find a hose I can use but where does all that water go?
Does the taped foam on the edge of the window come off when you have to close it up for winter? Or do you just leave it? If you take it off does it come off cleanly?
Hopefully you see this, so for the adaptor my is a little different instead of the groove piece like yours clamped onto the portable ac . mine has little grooves in the inside to lock in place for it to connect to the ac but the little grooves inside to lock in place broke off is there anything i can do ?
Buy a window stopper lock. You set the windows to the amount of open you want, place the stopper at the bottom of the window and screw the stopper in, it keeps the window in place and not able to be pushed open. You can also combo it with a cut of a wood stick for added security.
I just bought the 10,000 BTU unit. I set it up correctly and tried it for about two weeks, after the initial 3 minute compressor delay, the cool air starts blowing. The cool air only blows for about 10-20 minutes, and then the compressor shuts down for some reason and the compressor wont turn back on for hours until I turn the unit on/off again. I was given advice to see if my house had the proper amperage or something? Do you have any ideas as to what may be the issue? It’s almost as if the compressor overheats and turns itself off but isn’t able to come back on unless i restart the unit. Thanks !
I bought this for my garage so I could work during those Florida heat days.... does it matter if i dont run the exhaust hose? Will the unit over work since i plan on working with my garage door open and keeping the ac unit next to me for random cool downs.
Classic thermodynamics question. You're better off with a regular fan in this case. If you don't exhaust the exhaust air out of the room you are trying to cool then the room will actually get hotter and you'll just be wasting energy.
I have this same unit in my bedroom it’s not cool enough with this heatwave. My GE window unit died in June, it blew fabulous cool brisk air whole room Stayed cool & I brought this as, it was on sale & was different from the traditional window units. Not happy with it, not sure if I brought a refurbished one. It’s nearly identical but it has 4,000, 6,000 & 8,000 btu on the box so I don’t know what btu it actually is I thought it was 8,000 to at least cool my bedroom & it doesn’t during the day. I live in Pennsylvania and we’re having brutal heat here, I dread going home as it feels like I’m still outside.
I have a random question for you! My brother just gave me his old AC unit and I believe it is this one. He has replaced most of the pieces for it but we are missing the piece that connects the house to the AC unit. Do you happen to know how we could find that piece online to replace it? Nothing I have found looks close enough that I want to risk purchasing without being sure.
@@Vinh1949 I’m actually talking about the piece that screws onto the hose to attach the hose to the unit itself. I’ve tried looking online for the piece and nothing seems to be exact.
Do you know where I can get parts for this specific model? My dad gave me his with no hose or window parts. And it’s the same exact model you have in this video.
I would recommend purchasing an extra roll of the thick black foam just in case. It's cheap and more should be included by the manufacturer. HINT HINT, WINK WINK, BLACK & DECKER.
@@justadadtips thanks. I put it on the plastic as that made the most sense as not to have sticky stuff on my windows since I’ll be removing this in a month or so but so far it’s not working well this way. It is falling out of the window as the weight of the hose will periodically pull the top down and out of the window. I used duck tape and it’s still happening. Sigh :)
@@s.d.crockett486 I know this is 7 months late (sorry) but instructions say to stick it to the window sill. I don't think the wind insert is enough insulation. I'm just going to wrap the pipe with towels and stuff any voids because it's supposed to be temporary and cooling. Half my cooling is going out the window with this shady toy window insert. The bottom line is we're only trying to remove humidity.

it is a drain if you need to drain the pan.

That’s what cardboard and duct tape are for
@5:50 watch that bend, you want as little bend as possible, you lose like 66% flow speed like that and much more heat makes it back out into the room
