    I wanna be clear on something because there seems to be a lot of confusion 90% of the people that buy these are annoyed because it says it doesn’t cool the whole house but no conditioner ever made was made to cool down a whole house that’s not what it’s for if you want something like that u need to buy central air conditioner

    • @codycottingham130
      @codycottingham130 7 місяців тому +5

      I bought one just to help out my central AC unit because where I live the summers are mostly 98 Degrees and my landlord is too cheap to buy a better Central AC system. So on a hot day if I don't have anything to help out the AC unit it would literally just run constantly. And my utility bill jumps $100 on those months.

      I purchased one to cool only 400 cubic feet… that’s a medium size CLOSIT! It doesn’t do the job. I threw it in the dumpster.

    This video is really helpful in showing what is involved with P/ACs and 'how to'. My home's old central air has just bit the dust; don't want to pay thousands to replace it for the few really hot weeks in southern Ontario so this may just be the answer.

    I just purchased the 10,000 BTU unit and I am very pleased so far. I have it in my bedroom. I would say almost immediately I felt a difference in my room, but it took about a hour or so before my room was cold 🥶. I had the temperature set on 71. I saw many videos before purchasing the unit. I didn't come across your video until afterwards. I must say it was very detailed 👌. I will consider the larger unit for my garage. I almost forgot the unit is very quiet so it won't interfere with your sleep 😴.

    Thank you for having what appears to be the only legit review on youtube.
    I drove 50 miles north to go to a home depot that said they had the basic toshiba 8k BTU portable AC, to find out they didnt have any, and no home depot in all of california had an AC unit (cant blame them for not keeping it in stock) And decided to bite the bullet and wait a week for this unit to ship from amazon. I got the 10k BTU model and I'm aware of the downsides of a portable unit vs a window unit, but due to my windows I can't install a window unit for my situation, but it only needs to cool and dry the air of a 90 square foot room so I'm hopeful the negative pressure won't be too much of an issue, or the noise for that matter.

      @Tysport11 2 роки тому

      How’s it working

    • @TehTechnoGuy
      @TehTechnoGuy 2 роки тому +1

      @@Tysport11 still got the unit, I made a custom dowel rod to jam my horizontally sliding window into the fixture that the hose attaches to, it's pretty snug and I installed the foam on both sides so it compresses and makes a seal well. my house is also pretty old so I got some silicon tape and flap tape to cover my window and door way, and just seal off the room as much as a I can so it's super insulated.
      that being said, this unit continues to impress me how well it cools my small little room. with the hose running as short as it can be, and with the room sealed, it maintains a very cool and non humid environment for a few hours after word of running the unit for say 1 hour. performance wise I'd say it's the same as when I got it and I run the compressor alot. I just made sure to empty it and clean the filters before storing and it's held up much longer than I anticipated for the price. I was expecting to have to try and get my money back from the warranty a year after I bought it but it's just been good reliable on command cooling. I'd recommend it.

    We ended up using an old black knee high stocking on the window vent. We had a pair of doves spend a week building and rebuilding nests in the hose!!! I got sick of digging sticks out and hearing the scratching around. We put the nylon on the vent and they left it and us alone! It didn't melt the nylon either.

    Thank you for this video! Black & Decker's instructions were sadly lacking when it came to the window slide kit. We appreciated the suggestion to apply the adhesive foam tape to the slide plate assembly rather than to our window sash. That stuff is nasty and it was much easier working with it away from the window. In the winter months when we most likely will remove the slide plate there won't be any tape residue to interfere with the window's operation. You made our project so much easier!

    I am thinking this would fit into our small popup camper perfectly. The idea it only requires a small opening for the exaust is what makes me think it would work great. Mabe even replacing the original furnace. I have a hard time wanting to replace my furnace but know that those small units can really work great. My daughter had one for college and eventually gave it to us. We sold it after installing a windo A/c unit. It can be moved too, thats always a plus.

    Thank you for this video. I purchased the 14000 BTU, it is huge. The instructions that comes with the unit is lacking in my opinion. Your video provided a good explanation and showed me how to setup my unit properly. I would not have been able to set it up without your helpful video.
    I tested the a/c unit for 20 minutes and I could already feel the difference on the opposite end of my room. So I can tell it's powerful. I had to use duct tape on both ends to get the hose to stay in the connections. I wish they made those connections better. Also, I had some trouble with connecting the outlet exhaust to the window panel. I eventually had to take the window panel back out and force the exhaust outlet through the hole. Your exhaust outlet looks a lot easier to deal with and seems to snap into place. The outlet I had is different than what's in your video (2:11). Mine doesn't snap in place, I had to force it in.
    Also, I didn't get a hose to drain the water so I hope I won't need one.

    Nice video.
    I just read a Forbes article about the best portable Air Conditioning units, and the B&D 10,000 BTU unit was the best for small rooms. I see yours is 40% larger, but I was curious about the whole window exhaust aspect, and now I can see how it would be taken care of. I appreciate your use of the foam and tape, keeping it flush, and showing the adjustable width.
    I bought a house in Indiana last fall, so this is the first summer I've experienced, and the A/C is a 30-year old non-functioning unit. I don't have the money for a new AC now, so this looks like it'd be a fantastic option in the meantime for the bedroom.
    Thanks for the review and demonstration!

    The water helps your unit work for efficient people think that they're supposed to drain it you're not, now unless it's specifically says that you have to drain it but like the one I have it lets me know when it's time to drain it if I do need to drain it and it works because it runs over your condenser coils cooling the incoming air does helping your unit work more efficient

    Two years later. Would you say it was a solid investment or did you waste money? I just got the exact model two days ago. Installed it yesterday. Ran the AC for a few hours and it seemed pretty stout. Only thing is, we are about 10 days out from me really needing to turn on the AC. I have central air. The unit is too small for the living space. The air flow it provides is a joke. I made complaint a few years ago with the previous owner. He sent his tech out and I was told it is what it is. Well given the cost of the actual rent I sucked it up and have been dealing with it. It's a good neighborhood. Low crime rate, etc. When the temperature reaches 90F outside, the Central air just runs and the inside temperature still rises. Electric bill gets stupid.
    I am hoping this unit that claims 700sq ft coverage will keep the 480sq ft space I spend all of my time more tolerable. I am trying to mitigate the use of the central air. I would have opted for a window unit but it would require me to mount a bracket to the structure which violates the lease. Thanks.

      I wouldn’t say it was a waste of money, I wouldn’t buy another one. The reason is that it takes up too much room. Although a window air conditioner is a pain to put in the window and take out each year once within the space is minimal. I also feel that even though it cools just fine it seems like it is not as efficient because the hot side is inside the house. Hope this helps👍

    I received my 14000 btu portable ac/heater unit yesterday. I purchased this because even though my house has an ac unit with gas heat, the duct work (as I found out) is old and needs to be replaced but it's too expensive.
    The portable unit was pretty easy to assemble but there's an issue. It will shut itself off when the water reservoir in the unit fills up. It takes about 15-20 minutes for it to fill up. I'm using the heat mode. I get the error code: Ft and it flashes until I empty the water.
    This is ridiculous. I have a shallow pan to drain the water in but it fills up quickly and easy to spill on the floor.
    I can't imagine using this unit every day and having to empty water every 15 minutes.
    If anyone has a solution please let me know.
    The top drain is for humidity and the clear hose is used for this. It's the bottom drain plug that drains the reservoir of the unit. No water comes out of the top drain and it's raining here now. Water should be draining out.
    I might have to return this unit for a window unit.

    I just got my unit yesterday. I got it all hooked up and it cools fine. But after only twenty minutes, there was water all over the floor that I had to sop up with a towel. I made sure the drainage plug is tightly on. No water is dripping from there. I turned the unit off, cleaned the floor, and let the unit sit. I then turned it on again and put dry towel down all around the unit on the floor. I went to sleep. Four hours later I woke up to soaking wet towels again. My unit did not come with any clear hose. There is no condensation at the top of the unit. The water is coming from somewhere underneath the unit. Does anyone else have this problem? I’m so disappointed. I lugged this thing up two flights of stairs by myself and it wasn’t easy for me. I don’t want a leaking unit in my room and have to constantly replace towels. It was only on for twenty minutes, so the tank couldn’t have gotten full that fast. Ant suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

      @@OscarLachapel hi there! Thanks for responding. I found out what was wrong. When the unit was delivered, the bottom styrofoam packing was smashed and broken. But the unit looked fine. After it leaked I went and closely inspected the packing and found lots of broken plastic pieces embedded in the styrofoam. It seems that someone dropped the box and it slammed to the ground and broke the underside of the unit. The water tank is all cracked and broken. I called Amazon, they are going to replace it.
