  • Kinect laserscan person segmentation. I simulate a laserscan from the lower couple of degrees of the Kinect pointcloud, then do a very simple object segmentation on that. The green sphere marks the closest object. Sorry for the abysmal frame rate... the actual processing is quite fast (10% of CPU), but the visualization, VNC transmission, and movie recording is too much for the poor box Also, I'm using an obsolete Kinect driver because the current one doesn't recognize my Kinect, and the driver only gives 5fps.

    oh good the kinect's view isn't actually obstructed. Since your next video only shows the thin simulated laserscan data, i thought maybe the kinect could only see outof a thin slit in the front of the robot.

    @roidroid Actually, it is obstructed. I get about half to 2/3 of the original Kinect viewing angle. That's the price of screen accuracy :-)
