Gas Grenades with corrosion + bursting plague + magnified effect (breaks armor from everything FAST) and spam High Velocity rounds(awesome piercing) with (scattershot + Double barrel mandatory) and anything else you want to try with it. Gassing rares/elites and bosses and spamming your high velocity rounds can melt anything specially with a good xbow. (high velocity rounds do not remove the building armor break debuff until the armor actually breaks and you proc the super burst so spam gas grenades like crazy).
I am a lvl 78 Lightning God Wotchunter using Galvanic shards for AoE, Plasma Blast + shockburst rounds for single target and a lot of support skills (totem with rage aura, voltaic mark. And Stormcaller arrow to apply shock at a distance). I also rock kitokos current to allow galvanic shards to build shock immediately. Its insanely fun. Going to make a second character that does grenades and will see how that goes. Not of the other classes really call to me except for Druid...cannot wait for that!
5:10 well it says that the node reduces attack speed and grenades are in the category of attacks as we can see undernead its name in the skill gem tab. everything that affects attacks affects all the skills that are categorized as "attacks". For example (and also kinda weird) cast speed is only affecting spells so you basically need attack speed to improve the casting of attack skills since cast speed wont.
I loved this guide cause i've been struggling with everything since im new to this type of games. Witchhunter ascendency looks fun i'd love to see a guide about that and how to manage the points.
Hey Cas can you do a Lords of the Fallen video about how the game is now? Because is way better than before, mob density is fixed, a lot of encounters revamp, builds change. The game is really good now
Early on, like below level 20, I feel that the class is so clunky. I've been running projectile damage along with Frost + Fragment for mobs, and Armor Pierce + High Velocity for elites and bosses. I break armor, and then do 1.5 mags of Normal basic attacks, then finish with a High Velocity to get the most out of the armor break. But everything feels so slow. If I frost shot and swap over to Fragment shot to detonate them but they didn't freeze, I have to swap back over, and instead of just firing the crossbow when you select a shot you instead LOAD the crossbow, so I just loaded twice without any damage going out. With faster moving groups, Freezing someone in the group to detonate sometimes is too slow, so the group has rushed past the frozen mob and won't be in the detonation, even with increased AOE size Herald of ash. Using Armor piercing shots with Poison support > 1.5 magazines of basic shots > High velocity with Armor break doesn't FEEL like I'm doing damage worthy of all the effort. To Compare, I've started up a Ranger, and using ONLY Poison arrow with the support skill that lets you stack 2 poisons on a target + Vine arrow which DOESN'T EVEN SLOW still feels a hundred times better. I've just now gotten the 15+15+40% increased reload node, so I hope things FEEL better. So far, I'm almost forcing myself to push forward. The Act 1 end boss was... a slog
Grenades are labeled as "projectiles," so do they not also benefit from increased "projectile damage," increased "crossbow damage," and increased "physical damage" passive nodes?
I have a Merc on ps5 I can add the second crossbow but I don't know how to use it/add abilities to it. Can someone help? If he said it and I missed it I'm sorry I'm working now
Hey dude thanks it's a good overview, but really what I'd like to see as a starter would be a video that's simply: Get this, select this, combine with this, choose this skill, look for this armor etc. Just very direct and clear cut this is what you need type video, maybe with 3 different variations of Mercenary like you did on some Elden ring build guide videos

Guys can anyone help me out it’s my first time playing POE2 and I’m about level 29 in act 2, I have a uncut spirit gem that’s like level 6 or 7 but I can’t use it since I don’t have any spirit, I’m playing as mercenary but haven’t had a single drop of anything that gives me spirit except for that 1 gem, any ideas here because I really want to get herald of ash
The Act 1 quest to get Spirit is in a place called Freythorn. You need to speak with Finn in The Hunting Grounds zone to begin the quest to get Spirit.
I'm playing a freeze merc currently at lvl 23 and it seems to be managing alright so far (although I'm sure I'm far from optimized passives or skills). Double barrel on permafrost bolts with glacation which gives me +cold damage to all weapons for 3 seconds after freezing an enemy. Then I have frost bomb with reduced timer and +cold damage and Herald of Ice with freeze buildup. That gives me a decently solid combo of permafrost freezing an enemy then swapping to scattershot to explode them with bonus damage as an explosion hitting additional enemies. Still, I find myself needing to occasionally use the grenades and shockwave totem to keep enemies off me as its prone to being swarmed without available ammo, especially if you get too excited and cancel your reloads by dodging. but despite the low ammo and heavy management of ammo+effects I find it effective enough to kill most mobs or bosses without dying. for reference I killed act 1 boss without dying (although I got extremely close)
Quick advice: Try to name the video something like "Mercenary [ENTER SKILL HERE] Build", newcomers might be a bit confused when they read "How to build a Mercenary", as if that's the only (or one of the very few) ways to build a Merc :) Your Elden Ring Video Titles were fine just because Elden Ring works the way it works and you can do a lot with fashion and themes and stuff
you probably didnt notice you had a CrossBow Shot and skills to load ammunition.. for example permafrost.. loading permafrost bolts with X button will only load these ammunitions.. X button wont shoot these ammos.. just load them.. you also need Y button ( bound to your Crossbow Shots ) you cant shoot and load ammo with a Load Ammo skill. you also have standard/basic ammo what i do is bound every ammo to different buttons and i keep RT ( i play on xbox ) for firing i hope this is clear enough 😂
@sourpatchkilla I have done a minion witch, lightning arrow ranger, and now I'm leveling an ice strike Monk Totems were absolute favorite build in path of exile 1. I wonder if I will like them in path of exile 2 🤔

if you are low level, there is a crossbow that has a chance to refund ammo used so if you can get it, I Recommend it

It plays much the same as ranger and sorc 😂 the only glass that isn't a gunner feel is warrior
Grim Dawn did mercenery class better. I think a lot of classes can benefit from firearma in that game

They should benefit from these.
How do you get the basic shot as its own ability? Every time I load a different amo type, it overwrites the basic shot bind to whatever I loaded
I tried ballista armour break, mostly phys with a bit of fire. Was viable but damage felt low at lvl 50ish.
There is a bug where it sometimes does not reload and just sort of clicks the weapon. Very annoying

Any tips on how to improve fuse time on the grenades? The grenades in the video go off way faster than in my game.
There's a passive skill for it or you can use explosive shot
A passive, it's like acceleration I think very useful for tje exploding nades that have like a 5 second fuse

Felt powerful right off but frustrating not far in. Clunky for no good reason.
I enjoyed playing the mercenary until I literally could not attack using bound skill 1 making the game unplayable.
