    I found tortex the most slippery and hardest to grip out of all. Even though they advertise it as a grippy material, it always tends to move around my fingers and rotate whenever I try to play to where I gotta grip it ridiculously hard so it doesn't move in my fingers. I recently got Gravity picks from sweetwater and it is so amazingly grippy, it never moves when I play. I'm never going back to tortex.

    • @GuitarPickZone
      @GuitarPickZone  2 роки тому +5

      Hey Ashley! Thanks for your comment. Although I advertised Tortex as "grippy" I am referring to the material that it is covered in when bought brand new. The Tortex, if you've noticed, have a sand-like covering when they are brand new which helps with grip. HOWEVER, this "sand-like" covering wears off very fast which then makes the Tortex picks slippery which is most likely what you are experiencing. I have also experienced Tortex being slippery after a few hours of use. I also agree with you that Gravity picks are super grippy! And they're amazing! The Gravity picks are made from acrylic, which warm up in your fingers making the grip even better.

    Everyone seems to like the Tortex. I can't stand them. The Gators are so much better IMO. The click noise is very quiet, and the grip is great, so very good for softer players that like to strum. Purple .71 Gators 👌 not sure why they aren't as popular, they are a bit more expensive I suppose, glad they got an honourable mention!

    I too really like the V-picks, but my favorite all time pick (for electric guitar) is the Rick Rock picks. I used the V-pick until I was given one of these at a NAMM show a few years back. They are similar to the V-pick in feel, and the way they are made, they grip well. But to me, the overall sound is much better with the Rick Rock picks. But, they are hard to find. I would suggest you at least give these a try and see what you think. But, it took me a few hours to really start liking them, now that’s all I use.

    Bought a couple of Pearly Gates Screamers after watching this video a few weeks ago.
    I had been using Jazz IIIs for nearly 20 years.
    I am a convert to the Screamer! Played my guitar for 12 hours straight after getting them in the post. And I'm still blazing away, weeks later!
    Honesty, if you haven't tried a V-Pick yet, you really should give them a shot.
    They stick to your finger in a very natural way - no sweat involved lol. You end up relaxing your grip on the pick and the volume and clarity of my picking was very noticeable compared to my Jazz III.
    I feet the Screamer keeps my playing honest. No room for error. Sharpens up your technique.
    Enjoy your picking choices. It's all about what sounds good to your ears.

    I guess I am an oddball, but I swap out picks depending on what style I'm playing on what instrument (6 string bass, guitar, mandolin, dulcimer). My favorites strummers are the LePik, .60 through .88. Great grip, narrow point for less drag, though not for digging in, since they can crease, becoming useless. JD nylons thicker for strum digging in. Have a few 3mm clears for super dig ins or bass low B chop-digs. Shark fins on occasion. Mc Phersons for rarer occasions. Jazz red when the 3mm is too heavy but heavier tight is needed. Not a fan of slick-picks standards or tortexs.

    There is no such thing as Best guitar picks, but there sure is something thats called bad guitar pick. Dunlop Jazz III is the most sold, but many other picks would do the same job. I currently play on some cheap Alice picks from china. This V pick you put on number one, very strange choice. Maybe you are a Bass player? A pick like that I would pick in my hand to play on Bass with fat strings. Pick is a personal choice, so as long you feel good and sound good with it, then its the right choice.

    • @GuitarPickZone
      @GuitarPickZone  4 роки тому

      Hey Jack, thanks so much for your comment and apologies for my late reply to this. I 100% agree with you that there is no such thing as "Best guitar pick", It has been a while since I made/watched this video but If I remember correctly, I stated that the list was based on my personal preference and not necessarily applies to everyone. The best guitar pick (or any piece of equipment for that matter) is what is best for the individual. With regards to the V Picks, whilst it may seem like a strange choice for a guitar player, I have actually come to find that it helped with my playing. Furthermore, it was MY "best guitar pick" at the time as it helped with my playing and dexterity. However, as guitar goes, I have a new "best guitar pick" and I will hopefully be making a new video soon. All my reviews and recommendations are based solely on personal preference and opinion :) Hope that clears everything up. All the best, Justin
