Macy Gray- I Try (Guitar Cover)
Here’s my take on the lead guitar for Macy Gray’s "I Try." I learned it by ear, so it might not be note-for-note, but I aimed to capture the vibe of the song.

Improvisation (mistakes Included) To Soulful Shred Backing Track in A minor by @SebastienZunino
Переглядів 1973 місяці тому
This is a product of sheer improv as this was my second run-through of the song after jamming to it once, you'll notice a few timing issues and mistakes but they don't bother me as I loved this jam a lot. The pick was a bit too heavy for my liking which I think is what threw me off slightly. I was using a 2.00mm Dunlop Nylon pick with Max-Grip Credit goes to @SebastienZunino ua-cam.com/video/OG...

I feel lucky. I wanted a tutorial for learning this song. And there doesn't seem to be any. But this cover is brilliant and I can most likely figure it out because of this video. You play very clearly and the camera is in a great position for me to see bits that I have missed. And the fact you only just uploaded this video a couple of months ago! It must have been fate for me to find your Chanel! Thanks for uploading. I will check out some more of your videos!

I’m trying to get a thumb pick for metal purposes since Chris Broderick decided to take his pick clip out of production. I’m thinking about trying the Herco picks and filing them down to get a more precise Jazz III shape.

The nerds started the Punk movement in my high school in the late 70's as a response to the release of the book "Preppies Handbook". The top kid in my HS was from India and he was 2 years younger than everyone else and was my friend. I was a jock. I went over to his house to get tutored by him and he put on "Holiday in Cambodia" and it blew my mind and the Punk scene in my HS was born.

That is such an epic story man! I love it! I discovered Police Truck by Dead Kennedys in high school but never heard anything else until recently when I heard Holiday In Cambodia and It immediately blew my mind! Heard it in a podcast series called "No Dogs In Space" which goes through the full history of punk.

As a 6-string bassist, and having tried hundreds of picks, my top 4 are: 1) Dunlop tortex 1.0mm (including triangle pick) 2) Nylon Jim Dunlop 0.80 (Yellow) or 0.94mm (green). Generally to play chords or have a little more brightness and clarity in the notes 3) Dunlop sharp 1.14mm or the Dunlop jazz III Ultex (for fast and precise playing) 4) Jim Dunlop Stubby Jazz III 2.0 (this pick is smaller than the Ultex or Nylon one, but it gives you more speed and precision, the downside is that it slips a lot, I do not recommend the Dunlop Stubby Jazz "1.0" because its tip wears out quickly).

It’s a pity engineers won’t repair the smaller d class heads! Proper pain… all I want is a switch replacing 😂 this is why I might buy an older big beast as a back up, or tbf, could just get another class d as a back up. My terror bass hasn’t failed me in over ten years… just the impedance switch broke off

I love V-picks Jalapeño for recording but use a Taylor Thermex for practicing as they last a long time. Lately I discovered the Taylex/Radex which promises to be the Holy Grail of guitar picks; bright clarity of V-picks and durability of Thermex.

I guess I am an oddball, but I swap out picks depending on what style I'm playing on what instrument (6 string bass, guitar, mandolin, dulcimer). My favorites strummers are the LePik, .60 through .88. Great grip, narrow point for less drag, though not for digging in, since they can crease, becoming useless. JD nylons thicker for strum digging in. Have a few 3mm clears for super dig ins or bass low B chop-digs. Shark fins on occasion. Mc Phersons for rarer occasions. Jazz red when the 3mm is too heavy but heavier tight is needed. Not a fan of slick-picks standards or tortexs.

The TC Electronics 250 is rubbish. I just grabbed one, and the internal speaker is only pushing 70 watts. You need to hook to external speakers to get even close to 250. Talk about false advertising. It's much quieter than my Peavey Max 150 with just the internal speaker.
