#1 Proven Trumpet Course To Quickly Improve High Notes, Power, and Endurance! trumpetsizzle.com Did you know that I created what has now become the NUMBER 1 Embouchure Improvement Course Of All Time? It's true! Why not fact check it? Kurt Thompson's 16 Week Upper Register Course began in 2009 and has now (2021) been taught to well over 1000 students. Almost half of those students took the course live each week with Kurt and the other half did it on their own with the video tutorials! FACT CHECK: When trying to determine what is the BEST anything today, look for reviews, but BE CAREFUL: Written reviews can be faked, right? Still, many times we only have written reviews to go on at places like Amazon. REAL VIDEO REVIEWS BY REAL PEOPLE that got the product or became the student is the TRUE WAY to 100% fact check something. Currently there are tons of video reviews by students from 15 years of age up to 88 years of age that have had tremendous success with Kurt Thompson's Course! CHECK HERE: ua-cam.com/play/PL0PQUYopKD-L2Vj0awGJK9NNY96hVFaTY.html The other method would be cash sales. NOBODY comes close to matching the record setting sales of the 16 Week Upper Register Course! NADA! If you find someone who tries to make that claim, check out their student video reviews with the student doing some playing...THEY DON'T EXIST! CAREFUL: Be leery of trumpet teachers, courses, programs that have a lot of celebrity trumpet players giving an endorsement! Almost ALWAYS that endorsement is paid or because they are friends with the teacher. Think about it: If Wayne Bergeron gave a thumbs up on some teacher's course, did he actually go through the entire course and test it out? YOU KNOW HE DID NOT! His friend showed him the course. He browsed through it. Said: Hmmm ok, looks good! BE LEERY when you see that. Nothing wrong with friends helping each other out, but for YOU the student, you can easily be misled by putting too much weight on these famous trumpet friends. I am happy to have you try to find a course that competes with the 16 Week Upper Register Course. Don't bother trying to find one that supersedes it. That won't happen. However, if you can find one that has some decent competition, leave a comment. Decent competition does not mean written reviews, celebrity reviews, or even people just talking about it. It means legit music students PLAYING and DEMONSTRATING the success they had while taking the course! You find that? Let us know! INTERESTED? You should be! Did you know you can take a small sample of the course just to get an idea if it is for you? It is only a sample. Don't expect anything from the sample, but to give you an idea of how the course is. 😃😊🎼🎺🎵YES & NO! There are 3 stages of compression in my method and you are describing the first stage from Lynn. It is my understanding Lynn disavows the 2nd and 3rd stage saying that it would reduce range and sound. The fundamental flaw with Lynn is that he was playing great at age what 19? ...meaning how many years did he practice to gain that awesome range of his? 3 years? 2 years? LYNN is a natural talent and just like Maynard tried to do, explains in a rear view mirror how he is able to play the way he does. You do understand Maynard Ferguson NEVER, and i mean NEVER, NEVER, NEVER eluded to any "protocol" or unfurling of the lips. NOT ONCE! You can see Maynard's lips in the unfurled position after having blown his wad from playing too much, too loud, or too many gigs in a row without a break. NOT because it was some secret amazing way to play. The reason for this "unfurled position" was inflammation and a complete capitulation of lip strength which, because of fatigue, prevented him from "rolling lips back in"...100% it works for Lynn. It also worked for Maynard in a different way.. you know...putting your feet shoulder width apart, leaning back, taking that yoga breath, BUT. and this is a very, very BIG BUT (lol) We, the normal, mortal human brass players will never be able to play so easily as Maynard or Lynn without...a more realistic approach. If I end up being wrong, we will all see student after student gaining tons of range with Lynn's mf protocol, xpiece, and whatever else he is promoting, like hundreds have testified to with my program. My methodology remains #1 and unchallenged by Lynn or anyone else. I welcome all challengers! SHOW US YOUR STUDENTS THAT GAINED RANGE SO INCREDIBLY FROM YOUR METHOD! DON'T , AND I REPEAT DON'T ...SHOW US QUOTES AND CONGRATS FROM ARTURO, WAYNE, ROGER or any other known player because those are just friends patting each other on the back and nothing more, nothing to do with the veracity of the course or method. I don't see anyone or anything that has or will come close to challenging the best method for QUICKLY increasing range, endurance, and flexibility! That method is celebrating the 10th anniversary right now: The Revised 16 Week Upper Register Course for all Brass Musicians by Kurt Thompson. trumpetsizzle.com
hehehe because I am playing way way under my max range. Here, watch me wince and squirm as I go up to F above Double C. ua-cam.com/video/HWgSpIPpEcg/v-deo.html The reason I do is because I am inches away from maxing out. As an example: If I asked you to pick up a gallon of milk from the floor, you probably could do it easily. But if I asked you to pick up a 50 lb bag of dry cement mixer from Home Depot? hehehe you are going to at least huff and grunt a bit.
I worked on scales and arpeggios up an octave and within a year, year and a half, my range went up a solid octave. I went from getting G's right above the staff to holding out a solid G above a big band my senior year in high school (on a good day). These techniques REALLY help with range. Thanks for sharing.
The thing about lip slurs is, its about the notes between the notes, fluidity, not sounding like they are ragged and stepped. Takes a long time to develop. In other words, not hearing the slur of the tones in between, but hearing a solid tone throughout from one note to the other. Easy on the mouthpiece, but add the horn and its difficult. I just never thought of this way until my teacher, 2nd principal for 32 years in the Cleveland Symphony taught me. Does help with range definitely.

I'm a trumpet player at my school and it's killing me that I can't get hose high notes! I have a plain test this upcoming Friday and I can't seem to get the high notes down. The highest I can go to is a high C which is open but that is as I can get I can't bet the D flat, E flat, or F flat. Any more helpful tips I could use?
Yes there are a few reasons. The first would be a medical condition: VASIL VAGIL SYNCOPE . double check the spelling then google that. If you don't have that, then it would take some time in a lesson with me or some other master teacher to find out your individual reason for dizziness!
@@TRUMPETSIZZLE Dear musician. What I have said is the fruit of my observation listening to great trumpeters. For example, the biggest one, winton Marsallis, rarely uses these very high notes, going there through the Eb of the third octave. (From Brasil)
im a sophomore and i just joined my highschool band. i play trumpet! i cant stop myself from getting really red-faced and getting awful headaches. i also have such a hard time even getting to the top of the B flat scale:/ any tips?
I've been having a very hard time with even getting a C, I believe it's because I have braces which is making it harder to play but I don't know... any advice??
wow u can easy ti hit the high note i wish i back to playing trumpet again to do that 3 ways to increase may range or hit the high note to.....but im stop playong trumpet almost 3yurs and im 30yirs old i dont know if im back to play that i dont have trumpet now but i like to biy new but i dont know what brand of trumpet i buy .....
i just started this year playing but my teacher expects me to play my Eb scale and i can't hit any of the notes!!! what can i do to improve my chances of getting the notes out???
A man finds a genie's lantern on a beach, rubs it and a happy genie appears. "Hello lucky mortal, I am the genie of the lamp here to grant you any wish!". The man timidly replies that his one wish might be asking for too much. "Nonsense" says the genie, "I will grant you whatever it is you wish!". "Okay", says the man. "Mr. Genie, if you will, please make the trumpet a very easy thing for me to play". The genie gives the man a dirty look, cusses him out and disappears back into his lamp. Evidently the genie once tried to play the trumpet and the man's request just rubbed him the wrong way...
I have been playing for about 4 months from school and just started practicing after school a lot, I don't know much about trumpet with my small sixth grade brain, but I do know that practice will help me out a lot. But I just can't seem to go higher that a high c comfortably. Any advice?
I am an 8th grader and I can get up to a high f and on a good day a g but when I try to play above that it is really difficult or seemingly impossible. out of all of these what do you think would help me the most
For every trumpet player in all octaves there is a brake, new player's or is hard to get about middle g, experienced players find it hard to get about the g one in the staff, I have trouble with getting about the triple g
I do all of these things naturally. My range seizes to exist on anything above a G and even that I can't put a lot of air behind. I'm trying to go to the double A I need to find a way to SLOWLY get to it while improving the rest of the notes above the C.
ok. I think u need to have faster air and more air. I can get to the high D with this .Plus just try to hold the G for as long as u can then move up to the A. And if u cant hit that A then keep practicing. I am only 12 and it works for me.
@@TRUMPETSIZZLE I play french horn mainly so I dont have a private lesson teacher for trumpet. Thats kind of something that just happens to me though. Sometimes I can hit an f on french horn, other days I can only hit a high c
FRUSTRATED? PISSED OFF? INSECURE? yup...all common indications of a serious condition called: NOHIGHNOTEITIS! It's a very serious condidtion, but you can get healed here and leave all your cares forever: www.trumpetsizzle.com
folks go here :www.trumpetsizzle.com improving range is a process not a collection of watching videos. I have almost 600 videos. You can watch them all, but....YOU WILL HAVE MISSED THE PROCESS involved in my course...it's a must! You skip it? NO HIGH NOTES, NO ENDURANCE!
Cool Video. It helped. Pretty cool that we just did a sesame street themed marching band show last year. When you played it up an octave I thought I would give it a try! :D
I did all these things for years in HS & College and still never managed to get into C7 octave. My usable range ended at G6. I had a well trained embouchure and endurance to play Hummel and Haydn Concertos as well as much of the Arban's material. I was primarily concerned with classical music so my G6 range was well beyond what was necessary but I also wanted to play Jazz. I followed Maynard Ferguson's method, marched in drum corp, and spent at least 30 minutes every day focused on range building exercises. I just could never get an acceptable tone above G6. I see guys playing extensively in the C7-C8 range like it is nothing. Maybe I should have changed to a shallower cup [was playing 1 1/2 B in orchestra and 1 1/2C while marching]? This was all 30 years ago and I rarely play now since I moved to the violin in my late 20's. I was left with the feeling that C7+ just wasn't, for some reason, possible for me.
some advice: Use TRUMPET vernacular NOT piano. Nobody is playing a G6 or a C8. We play high G's and Double G's. We play High C's and Double C's. Let that be your first lesson!
+TRUMPETSIZZLE Point taken. I was just minimizing my typing. I hear guys in Blue Devils playing super C's and I couldn't get the air moving fast enough to play even double high C with a good tone.
likely many, many things going on with you. How much have you invested in lessons, teachers, etc...last 2 years? $1000? $5000? If the answer is a few hundred dollars or zero, WELL, there is your answer as to your condition
So, are you done working the above techniques? Done meaning....you have plateaued out? No more progress? It is time to step it up to the REAL DEAL with improving upper register, high range, etc....What have other people said that took the 16 week course??? WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I NEEDED YOU???????? I was a girl always going against a couple of guys in junior high as well as high school for 1st and 2nd chair. I got better the summer after my soph year so it came down to me and the one guy. Those chairs never got cold because I think the band director liked to torture us but for me it was fun. My high school band director was probably more familiar with woodwind instruments than trumpets as well as other brass because we were never given any of these methods for reaching higher. My son who also started out in 6th grade had an instructor in high school who pushed the trumpet players to do lip slurs. I hadn't heard of lip slurs before that and was pissed because the highest I could reach was high F, and that was on a good day. I was always good for a high D or E, but that was it. What I always warmed up on was scales. Every morning I got to the band room ahead of others and worked on scales including the chromatic starting at...hmm..I believe it was F#. That was my workout before band every day. I had memorized all those scales in junior high and they came in handy in high school for all-state try-outs. The closest I came was my junior year when there were 72 trumpet players trying out for 9 spots. When all had taken their turn, a page was posted and I was 1 of 12 who had been recalled to fill those 9 slots. I was that close and choked on the music placed in front of me so when my senior year came along I didn't even give a shit. Looking back I wish I would have, because I would have done something that the best players that were 3 and 4 years ahead of me hadn't made, and they could both hit well beyond high C. I wanted that ability but just never had the guidance to work on it. I have a couple of books that I loved working on during summer months after marching band competitions in the fall. My favorite is "Arban" trumpet method, something like that, and I had my favorites. I also had a simple much smaller book that was easy but it was great just to warm up with before playing. I enjoyed your video. I stumbled across it because I was looking up videos for cleaning trumpets, because a friend's granddaughter wants to play trumpet and grandpa has an old "Jupiter" brand brass trumpet that I assume is a student model. I prefer my Bach Stradivarius so much that when my first son was in band, I bought him one as well. Apologies for the book!!
@@TRUMPETSIZZLE God bless you my friend, but I'm a 61yo grandma now. It's been 10 years since I played but if the opportunity presented itself, I'd love to play again.

I've tried everything and I still can't seem to get it

Are you studying lessons, private lessons??
Dude.. you have graduated now.. thats crazy. The cycle continues lmao
I can get a high C right off the bat sometimes but I always feel dizzy when I play up to high F. Is there a reason?
Yes there are a few reasons. The first would be a medical condition: VASIL VAGIL SYNCOPE . double check the spelling then google that. If you don't have that, then it would take some time in a lesson with me or some other master teacher to find out your individual reason for dizziness!
You’re straining
What the utility. of high notes?
huh?
@@TRUMPETSIZZLE Dear musician. What I have said is the fruit of my observation listening to great trumpeters. For example, the biggest one, winton Marsallis, rarely uses these very high notes, going there through the Eb of the third octave. (From Brasil)
im a sophomore and i just joined my highschool band. i play trumpet! i cant stop myself from getting really red-faced and getting awful headaches. i also have such a hard time even getting to the top of the B flat scale:/ any tips?
Only Tip: GET A VERY GOOD PRIVATE TEACHER! If you can't find one local, I would be glad to help, but go here first: www.trumpetsizzle.com 🎺🎺🎺🎺
I've been having a very hard time with even getting a C, I believe it's because I have braces which is making it harder to play but I don't know... any advice??
Yes, well i have a tutorial on it. ua-cam.com/video/3YeQ8xDN70g/v-deo.html

+Lizzie Sheehy Of course you know what I am going to tell you right? www.trumpetsizzle.com
Oh a comedian in the crowd, huh?
OH MY GOSH THANK YOU IVE BEEN DYING TO LEARN THIS (this isn't sarcasm really) THANK YOU
kool!
You've Blown my mind, Kurt.. you've Blown my mind!
I never knew about lip trills until this day :o
Cheers pal!
I am very glad you found it helpful!
I have been playing for about 4 months from school and just started practicing after school a lot, I don't know much about trumpet with my small sixth grade brain, but I do know that practice will help me out a lot. But I just can't seem to go higher that a high c comfortably. Any advice?
You are doing fine. Focus on other stuff, not range
Brady Dobson high or in staff c?
@@yeah9088 c in staff most likely if he’s been playing for 4 month
These exercises are great only if the embouchure is correct. Pucker Power !
Hmmmm well, yes and no
I am an 8th grader and I can get up to a high f and on a good day a g but when I try to play above that it is really difficult or seemingly impossible. out of all of these what do you think would help me the most
All 3 techniques work together when practiced
For every trumpet player in all octaves there is a brake, new player's or is hard to get about middle g, experienced players find it hard to get about the g one in the staff, I have trouble with getting about the triple g
I can play two full octaves in 8th grade.😁
You can probably only play two octaves on f
I do all of these things naturally. My range seizes to exist on anything above a G and even that I can't put a lot of air behind. I'm trying to go to the double A I need to find a way to SLOWLY get to it while improving the rest of the notes above the C.
Keep up the good work, however, MOST hit a road block which will seem permanent to you. When that happens, go to: www.trumpetsizzle.com
ok. I think u need to have faster air and more air. I can get to the high D with this .Plus just try to hold the G for as long as u can then move up to the A. And if u cant hit that A then keep practicing. I am only 12 and it works for me.
Would that be the G on top of the staff or the one an octave above that?
low g third line on staff and if you can hit the high c then hold that one i can hit the high e
Doing great Jaydon!
Hey Kurt...if I play the trombone to relax my embochure, will I ruin my trumpet setup?
Thanks.
It depends on your def of RUIN: Your accuracy might slip a bit, a possibly air tone, and maybe some intonation problems are about the norm
I was able to hit a solid double g for about a week but now I can only get a tense c :(
Hmmmm what does your private teacher say about this?
@@TRUMPETSIZZLE I play french horn mainly so I dont have a private lesson teacher for trumpet. Thats kind of something that just happens to me though. Sometimes I can hit an f on french horn, other days I can only hit a high c

Cool Video. It helped. Pretty cool that we just did a sesame street themed marching band show last year. When you played it up an octave I thought I would give it a try! :D
Awesome!

TRUMPETSIZZLE
So I'm in 8th grade and hitting d's above. High c any tips?
Me too! Just keep practicing and watching Kurt and your range will increase
Thanks very much!
Have you tried the 3 techniques in this video?
Apologies for the book!!
uh oh....just now seeing this. Well, regardless, you can go here and still kick a$$ in college: trumpetsizzle.com
@@TRUMPETSIZZLE God bless you my friend, but I'm a 61yo grandma now. It's been 10 years since I played but if the opportunity presented itself, I'd love to play again.

www.trumpetsizzle.com/trumpetcourse.html Hey don't quit band just because you got braces or having other troubles. Don't give up or get depressed because I have a brand new course just for beginners and intermediate brass players. Especially for 5th and 6th graders, but equally as important for junior high, middle school and high school band musicians too. At least one thing is on your mind: YOU DON'T WANNA SUCK!!! Check out my new course at my site: www.trumpetsizzle.com/trumpetcourse.html
I picked up the trumpet again after 10 years and holy crap I sound terrible. I went from playing intermediate songs back to basic songs, and my notes sound terrible. Practice practice practice for me again.

Most songs I play don't go above that, your fine, the only reason you would need to go higher is a jazz piece or marching band
