There was a Luxray who went after a boy in a snowstorm. He found him by a tree half frozen and decided to warm him by laying around him. When the rescue team arrived later on, the Luxray had died due to the cold, but the boy survived.
I just now saw this but the one thing you definitely forgot was the Stoutland that passed away. This was from the alolah series where a Litlen was best friends with an old Stoutland. However, the poor dog got very sick and over time the tree near the bridge they were living in was slowly losing its leaves, indicating the time Stoutland has left to live. Unfortunately he did pass away at the pokemon center and Ash sadly had to break the news to the poor small Litlen. (Yes i am tearing up just writing this out.)
Yeah where was my man Stoutland? Also there was the episode where the gang encountered the fog that made people see their dead loved ones (The main focus of the episode was that Mallow regretted what she said to her dead mom before she died) and Stoutland came back and taught Litten (who had since evolved into Torracat) a move! It was pretty heartwarming to see him come back and check on the former Litten
he didnt die in the center, he just walked away one night, and litten couldnt then find him. i remeber litten falling asleep next to him just to wake up and find him gone as the last leaf fell.
what about the old stoutland that Ash's litten was raised and mentored by in the episode of the Sun and Moon anime titled "One Journey Ends, Another Begins"? That was a pretty impactful death as it drove litten to actually join Ash. It was one of my favorite episodes of the anime and also one of the most emotional.

It's not the shapes of the Poke'mon that died in the fire from the anime episode but rather one of those Eeveelutions would have been Vaporeon. How a Vaporeon got trapped in a fire instead of just putting it out kinda hurts the theory a bit.
Considering vaporeon is basically nothing but water, it is possible that the flames were so intense it started evaporating and died before it could do enough.
@@PlanetZoidstar The flames themselves are the least of Flareon's worries, since it's body temperature( according to the pokedex) can temporarily reach up to 1.700°C (~3.100°F) and the burning tower, having been constructed with wood, would reach localized temperatures of up to 1.200°C ( ~2.200°F), while other parts with low oxygen would be as "cold" as 800°C ( ~1.500°F). Fire requires oxygen to sustain itself, so a Flareon probably dies of suffocation or even a carbon monoxide poisoning, rather than hypothermia when trapped in the tower.
In a burning tower made of wood, once it starts burning, it is hard to put the fire out. However, the biggest danger is actually the building collapsing into itself. So even if Vaporeon could have extinguished some of the flames, once it is surrounded by flames, especially when trapped inside the building it is game over, as the water evaporates quickly at that point. That is also the reason why fire extinguishers don't use water but a special type of foam, that suffocates the flames. That foam is designed to withstand the temperatures for a while.

Or maybe he just chose not to use a full team of 6 because he didn't yet have that many that he was training, and the 5 he does battle you with are the 5 that are currently his best and strongest battlers. I also feel as though if you actually DID kill his Raticate in battle that he would be more upset with you about it, but it doesn't seem like his attitude changes from that point forward, so I'm left doubting the legitimacy of the theory. If we were to assume that he doesn't have Raticate anymore because it did happen to die at some point between the battle on the S.S. Anne and Lavander Town, maybe there's the possibility that it happened after your battle against some other trainer or wild Pokemon? If Gamefreak were to do a current gen remake of Red and Blue, the event will definitely see a more explicit retcon to confirm Raticate is alive.
Mat Pat actually disproved the theory that you killed Blue’s Raticate, seeing how the Raticate he uses isn’t the same Rattata he uses in early battles.
@@cratorcic9362 been awhile since I saw the movie, but doesn't he run out of oxygen for like 10seconds then regains consciousness and puts the crystal in place. Is that canonically a death?
To me Blue’s Raticate is totally alive and boxed, dude straight up said he’d caught 40 different Pokémon before the S.S. Anne fight, he sasses you about how he can at least make your Pokémon faint, which if he’d lost one would be a heartless thing to say. And there’s actually a reasonable explanation for why he only has 5 Pokémon with him. He wasn’t wilfully handicapping himself against you, he says himself that he was trying to catch a wild Marowak, and most players when trying to catch a Pokémon and immediately add it to the team without trekking to the centre would plan ahead and leave an empty spot on their team. It would make sense for Blue to want to catch a Marowak and be able to instantly start training it or wait for you to show up. Just unfortunate that if Marowak was ever native to the Pokémon tower, they weren’t by the time you two get there.
"10 pokemon that actually die" shows characters who barely had a few minutes of death before being revived... and chose not to show the death of your partner from explorers of time(god damnit it deserved the spot way more than anything else on that list!)
Alao that theory is proven false, I forget where but Blue uses his Rattacate somewhere after I think in the psot game or something, he proabably just stopped using them in battle because they are a weaker line of pokemon, and when he got sense knocked into him started using them again
Years ago (while playing either Gold/Silver or Heart Gold/Soul Silver I had an idea for a 'scary' 4th & forgotten Legendary Beasts (which could also somehow be related to as a secret 3rd member of the Galar Duo, thus loosly linking them to the Legendary Beasts perhaps)... one that wasn't revived by Ho-Oh when the tower burned down, (it didn't make it for some reason it actually died and became a ghost dog/wolf), instead it became a powerful black with purple stripes wolf or dog like Ghost Psychic type legendary with spooky mist coming off it's ghostly body and a single large glowing green & red eye on it's forehead, it's actually based on the original 'real life' phantom hound 'Black Shuck' (but not the SCP version, the concept of the SCP hadn't been a thing back then) and it's supposed to haunt a hidden forbidden haunted woodland area where it guards, which most humans are too scared to enter and are totally afraid of this Pokemon as it's rumoured to bring bad luck... of something worse, (plot-twist, it's actually a good-natured if shy creature that's very protective of those under it's care and quite friendly to those it trusts). This mysterious forgotten Pokemon dose occasionally leave it's woods at night to wonder 'aimessly' around the map, where the player has to chase it kind of like how you'd chase down the original Legendary Beasts, only it's a bit easier and predictable though it does require skill as it's more of a actual puzzle, however you are unable to catch it until it returns to it's lair in the forbidden woods, something mysterious always stops you from trying during the chase, puzzle and if you somehow manage to cause it to faint the puzzle is reset to the beginning and you have to wait 24 hours until the next night... (As to what the Legendary Beasts looked like before, I like to imagine they look something close to their beta designs, perhaps swapped around a bit, though I do like the Eeveelutions theory which could fit in with idea for a 4th one which could have originally been an Umbreon, an Espeon or a compleatly new ghost type Eevee...)
The lore around the 3 Beasts actually helps explain how Ash comes back. There are theories he died in Pikachus Thunder and last saw Ho-oh and made a wish before he past. I think that whole thing is kinda proven since we only see Ho-oh revive anyone. Ash could be 'blessed' like the beasts. Of course that starts a whole other thing lol
Matpat actually analyzed the theory & found good evidence that not only is raticate alive, but his SECOND raticate. In the SS Anne battle, raticate is not at level 20 like it should be, meaning he most likely caught it as a raticate.
3:09: the SS Ann doesn't leave port until YOU get off the boat, witch doesn't happen until you cure the captains sea sickness, witch happens after you battle Blue, that is plenty of time for him to leave and get to the Vermillion pokemon center, either he is a criminally negligent trainer ( and I highy doubt that a ship in the poke universe, where everyone has at least one pokemon wouldn't have an in board poke center) or the theory is disproven.
2:50 no, game theory said that the rat Pokemon did not die, because Rattata Evo at lv 20 and the rat blue is using is lb 16 he just got a diff lv one, and he released it
If no one agrees with #6, then just remember that he technically mentioned that Pikachu died in Tower of Terror as well, so Ash doesn't have to be alone
It was never confirmed that they died either. They had a chandelier fall on them and were not moving. Haunter got bored and pulled their spirits out to play with them
Blue's raticate didn't die, he was sent to the pc because blue realized that raticate is weak. Meowth came back to life because cats have 7 lives, and he also died a second time in S&M anime
Him: The Pokemon in the fire are unidentifiable. They don't look like any Pokemon that we've seen before. Also him: *Shows footage, as he's saying this, of silhouettes that look a hell of a lot like a trio of Houndour.*
The main problem with the raticate theory is that there are places to heal on the ship. Some of the trainers will do it for you. If it died he willingly let it die.
With the Gastly and Haunter theory, it might be more the case that they were powerful despite being in basic stage and 1st stage of evolution. You see it quite often in both games and anime. Take Pikachu for example, he never wanted to evolve at all yet has surpassed the strength of Raichu time and again.
Imagine while countless people die because of heroic causes and diseases with cures not known to science while you die from a smack by a floppy floppy fish that can only splash around
I haven’t watched your videos in a while, but I’m glad I’m watching your videos again, I just wanna say that I like the new intro and your character expressions
The raticate death theory can also be avoided when you realize ratatta doesn't evolve until level 20 meaning Blue had a Raticate he didn't want anymore
@@Acacius1992 I don't think you can encounter a raticate that early in the game. Even if you can it's completely different because all his pokemon follow the evolution rules.
I am surprised Marowak ((aka Cubone's mother)) wasn't on here, being one of the most famous dead pokemon of all. Ones that got me teared up that weren't mention were Latios, Lucario, and Darkrai who sacrificed themselves.
I feel like they could've actually been Gastly and Haunter. The Ghost type was still shrouded in mystery back then, so it's feasible that Trainers might not have known what to really do against them.
i remember noticing his missing raticate the very first time i played back in the 90s lol thats actually what i thought as a kid, before i knew that in the game they dont really die. i think it was implied by the developers on purpose
you forgot one in the anime (sun and moon) there was an old stoutland that took care of Ash's Litten before it wanted to join Ash's party. That stoutland did die of old age later and the couch that he'd always sit on broke after wards.
I think Gary/Blue just traded his Raticate to get Eggecute. You can only get one from the Safari Zone, but one path is blocked by a Snorlax and the other path needs a bike, which is insanely expensive to get, so you have to wonder how else he could have gotten it.
Interesting idea only problem is that it only make sense if he choose Charmander/Squirtle. As if he have Bulbasaur, Growlithe and Gyarados you can get before the Snorlax.
10:00 there's a second and third one I think but one of the most jarring was the one that is basically your Magikarp getting blown up by a Voltorb if the pokeball you encounter after training sometimes is a trap. Encountered that one yesterday and had to take a minute to process what even happened.
Good video dude, takes me back. I'm not as up to date anymore but there were a few deaths that always stood out. Top tier for me was Celebi's death in Pokemon 4ever. Ofc it was revived from past/future Celebis but I was around 8-9 when it came out, haha, so it was pretty rough. Seeing the lil' guy shrivel up and brown, haha dear god that made kid me cry. I use to beg my parents for the mangas as well around that time. They were the actual size of magazines rather than the newer ones that read more like small mangas. I can never forget seeing Arbok sliced in half for the first time, colored that shit in with marker like the little brat I was. For some reason I remember hearing it could regenerate it's body but never again heard about that, anyone here remember anything similar? Maybe it was something my brain made up, idk, but I swear there was something like that. Last was paras. There was that one ep where a paras was afraid or too weak to evolve but the lady insisted for some medicine she was making. Makes it much darker when learning it's basically a zombie afterwords. ENOUGH of my rant, haha, this unlocked some memories I've forgotten about.
My theory about Gastly and Haunter in that one episode is based on the idea that some ghosts forget who they used to be if they've been dead too long. Like in the Casper movie where you have the "cartoon " ghosts like Casper who don't remember their past lives (or just not all the details), and the "Human" ghosts who only died recently, so still look as they did in life. So Gastly and Haunter may have forgotten what Pokemon they were when they were alive because that was 300 years ago.
I don't think Raikou, Entei, and Suicune were the Eeveelutions. Their types represent their deaths. Raikou is the lightning that sparked the fire, Entei is the flames that burned the tower, and Suicune is the water that quenched the inferno.

Basically the only one that really died and suffered a permanent death was that Magmar. Most of the others were just rumors or they were brought back to life within the episode (the mythical dogs are a legend, the Magikarp was unconfirmed and out of screen and MechaMewtwo was a robot - I went to see that play back in 2001, btw). In the Kanto games there is a subplot of a Marowak dying. Why didn't you mention that confirmed death?
@@andrewcople1453 Ok maybe but at least her Mimikyu loves Jessie and has her as a caring/loving friend cuz Jessie is shown sewing up that Mimikyu’s cloak and because she knows that Mimikyu can’t be seen without a cover up so while she fixes the cloak she lets it cover up with the pasty bag then when the flock of Murkrow steal the cloak she chases after them to get the cloak back for the mimikyu.

“10 pokemon that ACTUALLY dies”
Starts with a theory.
@@whatTFisThis no, it's a different raticate

A game theory

It was never confirmed that they died either. They had a chandelier fall on them and were not moving. Haunter got bored and pulled their spirits out to play with them

With the Gastly and Haunter theory, it might be more the case that they were powerful despite being in basic stage and 1st stage of evolution. You see it quite often in both games and anime. Take Pikachu for example, he never wanted to evolve at all yet has surpassed the strength of Raichu time and again.

I am surprised Marowak ((aka Cubone's mother)) wasn't on here, being one of the most famous dead pokemon of all.
Ones that got me teared up that weren't mention were Latios, Lucario, and Darkrai who sacrificed themselves.
15:45: I mean the champion could have been a normal or fighting type specialist, or he over leveled a TON.
I feel like they could've actually been Gastly and Haunter. The Ghost type was still shrouded in mystery back then, so it's feasible that Trainers might not have known what to really do against them.
not to mention there was only ONE ghost pokemon in existence: gastly, haunter, gengar
i remember noticing his missing raticate the very first time i played back in the 90s lol thats actually what i thought as a kid, before i knew that in the game they dont really die. i think it was implied by the developers on purpose
The timeline split caused by the Ultimate Weapon is actually canon.

in the anime (sun and moon) there was an old stoutland that took care of Ash's Litten before it wanted to join Ash's party.
That stoutland did die of old age later and the couch that he'd always sit on broke after wards.
Speaking of MattPat and Raticate, He solved that theory back in 2016. He made a video about it.
The saddests deaths to me are Latios and Stoutland's
Acerola, in the anime, has the ghost of a dead shiny Mimikyu as her partner. It messes everyone up whenever she tells them why it floats.
Lysandre died, but they never explicitly said that he died. He just "miraculously disappeared."
10:29 im pretty sure that was shown in x and y which was before sword and shield, is that eternatus in the air because it really looks like it
I love the theory of Flareon Vaporeon and Jolteon reborn as the legendary beasts
I think Gary/Blue just traded his Raticate to get Eggecute. You can only get one from the Safari Zone, but one path is blocked by a Snorlax and the other path needs a bike, which is insanely expensive to get, so you have to wonder how else he could have gotten it.
Add on to the theory, he sold it to youngster joeys dad.
Interesting idea only problem is that it only make sense if he choose Charmander/Squirtle.
As if he have Bulbasaur, Growlithe and Gyarados you can get before the Snorlax.

So, do you also kill your rival’s Raticate in Pokémon Let’s go Pikachu/Eevee, or does he bring it back?
Dibs: * Calls Mimikyu evil *
Also Mimikyu: * Wears a costume just because it wants friends *

I always figured Blue just boxed the Raticate since he caught 40 species by the time he reached Vermillion. Like, a Raticate generally doesn't stick around long on anyone's team since they're kind of weak, and he has better options to go with.
And in the Pokemon Tower, he mentioned catching a Cubone, so it can be assumed he's just exploring and trying to fill his Dex.
AZ sacrificed a ton of Pokemon to power the Ultimate Weapon too.
