That green ball is probably an old safari ball, from the times when they didn't add an "S" to it and considering how old bruno is, it could be true he caught it with an old ball.
I always assumed Bruno's Pokeball in the first battle were just the regular red PokeBall. But the lighting in the battle was odd, so it looked that way.
This could be it. If you look at objects under certain lighting they will be a different color depending on what colors are available to be reflected. A white light has all colors, so since the white light has red in it, the red object can reflect the red light that we see and absorb/reflect the rest of the colors in the combination it needs for that specific shade of red. In other lighting that doesn't have red light, the red object will be a different color. I can't remember exactly, but I believe a red object like a coca cola can for example under blue light will look black.
With the Whiscash, I like to believe that it ate another Pokemon, and when it swallowed the master ball, the master ball hit the Pokemon in Whiscash's stomach
I think that whiscash was a trainer like ash who told it to live in wild but didn't release it. After all master ball does fail on other people's pokemon and if I am not wrong master ball thrown is lost in games (Atleast in earlier games I think it does. I don't know about newest games)
For the Master Ball, maybe it depends on how quickly it was digested. The Munchlax didn't digest it quick enough to destroy it, whereas the Whoscash managed to digest it fast enough so that the Master Ball didn't get a chance to work.
Was that Whiscash Wild & therefore able to be caught? It was probably fake if Whiscash wasn't owned by someone already. I need to rewatch that episode, although Pokeball Safety features prevent a Masterball from catching something that already has an owner in the Anime. Kind of surprised that Mewtwo's Balls weren't mentioned considering they could catch something even if it were inside its Pokeball.
What gets me is that in Ultra, that's even true for Cyrus even though the entire reason he pursued the Red Chain was because capturing the legendaries in balls would have negated their power. And yet he was still able to create a universe, so did he absorb their god powers or something?
Considering the Munchlax/Whiscash issue, I always thought that May's Pokeball hit Munchlax's uvula at the back of its throat with the little button, which caused it to open up and capture Munchlax, while when Whiscash swallowed it, the button didn't hit anything; at least not hard enough to cause it to open.
In the anime: Elite 4- four invincible trainers who can do anything and are unbeatable In the games: Alakazam used psychic! It's super effective! Bruno's whole team fainted!
I always thought it was cause the whiscash was already someone else's pokemon. The masterball has a 100% catch rate on wild pokemon, but if the pokemon was already caught it wouldn't work.
The Mewtwo balls are definitely strange, considering they can even catch pokeballs containing pokemon lmao. Weird that it's not on the list, the Mewtwo ball is stranger than the green colored ball from the first episode, at the very least lol
Theory: Voltorb is a Pokeball that was corrupted. During testing phase, a substitute doll was caught in the ball but it won’t release it. Making the Pokeball corrupted and thrown away. Soon enough, the substitute doll became Voltorb itself!
The strangest pokeball in this franchise is that masterball from the anime that was used on Whiscash. Imagine having the ability to capture everything with 100% rate and yet still fail.
A possible explanation for that could be that the whiscash swallowed it before it was able to work or probably the ball was broken ,I mean it doesn't make sense lol
Voltorb and Electrode might be Rotoms that possessed PokeBalls but couldn't leave as the balls capture mechanism trapped Rotom in it. Voltorb and Electrode self-destruction might be the trapped Rotom trying to break the capture mechanism and escape.
I think that's an early prototype safari ball because brono is a lot older than ash the time brono caught onix the ball was just green but other reason than they change it to have a 'S' on it (soory for bad English 😅)
Now that Pokemon Legends: Arceus was revealed, we can say that the Captain's Pokeballs could be the same pokeballs the Trainer was using in the trailer
So the Moon Ball was more effective on a Pokémon that evolved with a burn heal. As ridiculous as it sounds, I feel like there could be a Pokémon in generation 9 that might evolve with a burn heal…kind of. Let me explain. Ever since Generation 5 with Accelgor and Escavelier, evolutions have slowly gotten more unique, or even strange. This is probably to restore the rumor system of how kids what spread information. Seeing how Sirfetch’d and Runerigus require some of the most specific or unlikely methods of evolution one could possibly think of, I do believe that in the future, there very well could be another Chansey clone that evolves after giving it each of the individual status healing medicines. Personally, I’d like to see a sort of Eevee-like split evolution where the type of healing item you use last determines the type of the Pokémon it evolves into. Furthermore, each evolution should specialize in a different stat and have whatever ability absorbs their STAB typing (I.e. the fire one would have Flash Fire) There should also be one that stays normal type if you evolve it with a full heal, and it should just be immune to status conditions.
all this theorizing and then scarlet and violet prolly just comes out as legends arceus but modern and with normal pokeballs with like 5 new pokemon lines
I think the modern pokeballs that the captain had and the pokeballs young Oak and the one with the Ninetales has a somewhat complex story. But to put it simply, maybe the captain had the modern pokeballs maybe for status purposes, but over the years, those pokeballs got popular and that's where your average pokeball got it's structure

I like to think of that you can customize the pokeballs somewhat that way you can tell the difference between a two pokeballs right beside each other and if this is Canon there are rules to customizing your Pokeball thereby to not invalidate it in an official Pokemon League battle. The item I would choose for the ancient item storage device would depend on the Pokemon it's supposed to contain, for example if the Pokemon was Galade then yes I would use a sword and scabbard to contain him. I could be wrong but the animes pokeballs versus the game pokeballs differ each time. Does anyone agree or disagree? Let me know.

Great video dobbs. Keep going with the lore!!
I think I can explain human balls from black and white 2 so in the time gate traveler story if you knock out the black belt the Leiden uses it catch you so maybe the super intelligent bugs have found a way to reverse engineer pokeballs to capture and brainwash humans
As far as the Voltorb theories go, the one I heard as a Kid was that they were Pokeballs that got possesed by Huanters.
I remember hearing somewhere that it's actually impossible to catch a route 1 Caterpie in sun and moon with a master ball. I don't remember where though

Number 9 could be a Apricorn ball. There was a game where you gave a guy several apricots that made a pokeball based on what apricot you gave. I think that is what number 9 was. I could be wrong but the animes pokeballs versus the game pokeballs differ each time. Does anyone agree or disagree? Let me know.
