Since I know almost all people didn't like the Mercedes Zetros, I'm really happy that it has pleased Unbrickme so much! It's nice to know that it's loved by at least one person out there!
I think i would change everything. Buggy ferrari and zetros would be on like maybe 8th 7th and 6th place. Tow truck would be on first and mclaren would be second
As for the 42121 excavator, we almost never saw gearboxes on $40 sets. It’s not until $60-$70 where you’d normally get a gearbox. Sure it could theoretically fit a gearbox, but given the trend of what price points gearboxes begin appearing in sets, if the 42121 had a gearbox, it would’ve been the exception, not the rule.
I actually consider that the 488 GTE should be much lower on this list and the Senna higher up, since they both have literally the same functions (except for the functional steering wheel which is not practical/useful at all and the suspension). The lack of differential is certainly a big disappointment in the 42123 but it is actually a 42125 only $120 cheaper. They both look great, and have the basic functions of a Technic car, which is fine for the 42123 but the 42125 shouldn't be happy with so little. Speaking about the Top 2, first I want to thank you for making me appreciate the Zetros more. Now I clearly see that lockable differentials are an impressive and revolutionary feature and make the set extremely fun to play outside without any user-made changes out of the box. I've only seen videos on this set and I can appreciate the massive torque it has and how it goes over the stones without any difficulty and it's absolutely mind-blowing for a plastic LEGO toy, but here comes my point, the price. Three hundred dollars. That is overpriced, there is no other way to express it than overpriced. The Top 2 on your list is the Heavy Duty Tow Truck, a set that costs half, has a number of parts comparable to the Zetros, pneumatics, many mechanical functions, is 58 cm long, looks amazing (except for the stickers and the color orange) and is one of the sets with the most play value that LEGO has given us in years in terms of Technic sets. So IMHO, I think 42128 should be in first, 42123 in second, and 42129 in third or fourth. I hope that in a few months the price of the 42129 will start to decreace on Amazon or another store of that nature for me to be able to buy it, because I agree with you, it is one of the best sets we've had this decade, but the price is a determining factor in its value. PS: I love your videos, I hope you keep growing and become the most famous LEGO Technic UA-camr :)

It has the same problem as the 4x4 xtreme off roader, as both are overpriced for their respective piece count. Although, the zetros has gotten kinda cheap in some stores on the secondary market. Recently, I saw the set go for $220 and around that price. That's a decent price for the zetros
I disagree The Ferrari, McLaren and race plane are my favorites, the others suck There was no way for Lego to put suspension in the McLaren, it's too small
The listings are good but I have one problem , u seem to use 42123 as the bad example for almost every set above it That being said here is my list 11- the polybag 10 - 10$ sets 9 - ferrari 8 - pullbacks 7- hovercraft 6 - excavator 5 - jeep wrangler 4 - off-road buggy(this low bcoz of the price) 3 - McLaren senna GTR (This high bcoz of looks and price) 2 - zetros 1 - tow truck Do u agree?
The race plane is the only one I have and it's a flawless set. The rest of the sets are pretty ok in my opinion, except for the Ferrari which is a real disapointment. I got the race plane for half the price, and I really like the usage of system pieces. I recently got into very small and detailed technic mocs, and some system pieces are a must, because they are so much better at details then technic. I will soon release a double moc with a long truck and a wheeled rough terrain crane. And they are just 7 and 9 studs wide. At that scale, I think about 10% of the pieces are system or system-technic.
I really like the senna gtr (modified it to include a differential), the jeep is also cool (moddified it to include a drive train and change where it steers from), the hovercraft is decent yet to pick it up though. Some surprising rankings like the excavator being lower than the £10 or even the polybag probably due to the fact that you expect too much in a cheap set. I am very surprised you did not put the tow truck as number 1 as it is has the most functions but no you put the trial truck because it happens to have a new feature in a technic set.
Just been getting back into Technic this year after waaay too long. Have a decent number of these (eyeing that out-of-stock tow truck next. To play devil's advocate for the 42121 Excavator (as it's my most recent grab).. I think some points should be given for having a second building instruction(which also uses the vast majority of the "rubble pieces"). Also, it is one of, if not the, cheapest new sets to include actuators or tank treads.

excellent reviews I thought the jeep wrangler was an excellent build basically flawless great price I've noticed prices slowly creeping up some of the price builds are just not worth it and I build alot thank you👍👍👍
I just got the tow truck and have found that the slew gear has too much play and requires modification to make it work. I will be using a L peice and a pin to stabilize it to make contact with the main slew ring of the crane. Other than that it's a fabulous set.
Just got the lego set 42124, and is worth the money. Hard to control in the beginning, but as soon you get the hang of it, you can plain on outside terrains
As someone who loves Lego helicopters of all kinds, I want to in particular do a shout out for that amazing little polybag that we got this year! It would actually be quite high in my own ranking, since it has some really desirable pieces for only $5 AUD (usually they mark up things here - i.e. the Wrangler and the McLaren are $90 here for comparison).
I would put the Helicopter in 1st place. Cheap but amazing. Like a "how it works"-Set for teaching Basic mechanics. Nice Video, thank you and greetings from Germany 😁
I think the mclaren isnt about functionality, bc its a moddel car..... they don't have to be play whit! And where i live it only cost 30 euro! Not overpriced at all, and i think for price worth it should be higher on your list. But thats what i think...
The grave digger set I think would make more sence if it was a remote control set because if you are trying to base the set of an event why don't you try and make it look exactly like the event instead of just having stickers

As for the 42121, I think you need to focus more on what the set offers rather than what it lacks. Sure, the 42121 may not contain a gearbox, but it certainly has a lot of great playable features that mot kids would appreciate. You have to understand that Lego was not designing that set for AFOLs such as yourself who are looking for complex mechanisms like gearboxes. Rather, the set's intent was to deliver a playable model for kids that is affordable. Lego makes so many sets for a variety of markets, and buying a set that is intended for kids as an adult, and then criticizing it, is unfair, especially when there are stet's like the 42115 on the market that are designated for AFOLs.

Zetros should be number 10 on the list, it is an overpriced gimmicky set that is trying to force the consumer to buy the equally overpriced and unnecessary control + parts, just look at the reviews on the Lego website, what a embarrassment.
@@Unbrickme Just because it has locking central and rear diff doesn't mean it's worth 300€. When I buy lego sets I try to find the best price/piece and useful parts. And spending 300€ in a single lego set with 2000 pieces and some motors isn't worth at all. It has no gearbox, nothing special or eye-catching or unique, just 2 diff locks. The tow truck has 2000 parts, pneumatics and ton of functions for half the price! When talking about the best sets, the price should be the key factor, for example, if the tow truck were 250€, I wouldn't even consider it. You can think of the best set ever, however, if the price is not appropiate, then it's a bad set. I love Legos, but they are Very expensive, and for someone who isn't into legos and is considering buying the Zetros, it can be a waste of money considering what you can buy with 300€ (a phone, a nintendo switch, other smaller lego sets...). Of course I respect your point of view, but to me the Zetros isn't a great set Thanks for replying!
@Pelocho Bros Differential locking is extremely important as it’s the first time we are getting that in a lego Technic set! That’s extremely special and eye catching! The zetros isn't the worst priced set. The 4x4 xtreme off roader is $250 and has a much worse price/functions ratio. The zetros has about the same number of pieces as the 6x6 volvo articulated hauler (which is $250) but the zetros contains an extra motor, the planetary wheel hubs (which are expensive), new tires, so many gears, and so much that adds that extra $50 above the 6x6 volvo articulated hauler. The two differential locking mechanisms consist of the same parts that would be used to create a transmission or distribution gearbox (lots of gears and driving rings). On top of that, the zetros is the only lego technic set to have that much torque, unmodified, out of the box! The central differential would always be a problem with RC off roaders, but with the zetros, the rear and central differentials can be turned into solid axles at any time! The zetros is the best out of the box, unmodified lego technic off roader!
@@Unbrickme I agree, the 4x4 xtreme off roader is even worse. I believe the volvo is better, though. It has more details, the gearbox does actually affect the speed of the truck, while in the Zetros the turning radius is the same with the opened diffs or locked: it's huge, it barely steers. The volvo has working steering wheel, engine and the bed works, while the mercedes just drives (and 99.99% of the time with the locked diffs, so you're not using that function anyway). It would have been great if it was a good offroader, but the turning radius and average suspension doesn't help. What is more, there was a photo of a 6x6 zetros, and that was much more eye-catching. That one might have been worth 300€.
The point of differential locking isn’t to increase/decrease the turning radius. Differential locking temporarily makes the central and rear differentials solid axles. So for example, all wheels have good traction except for the rear right one, which just wildly spins and the truck is stationary. By simply locking the differentials, power will travel equally to the wheels, and the truck will start moving forwards, instead of being stuck. In my opinion, that’s a far more practical feature than simply slightly changing speeds. I mean, the hauler does have pretty good playability, but let’s face it, it’s a terrible off roader compared to the zetros
In my humble opinion, all of these sets are very expensive crap. And if you think the Mercedes Zetros is one of the best Technic sets ever, you had better see someone.
Man you really love gear box huh? I dont expect seing a 40$ with a gearbox you should at least be at the top 10 its cheap and its cool pls understand me i dont really love gearbox much i just want the quality. The quality is more important then some gearbox

Good video but jeez the mclaren senna isn’t that bad especially saying that most stores now sell it for 40$ which is basically 5 cents per piece.

The Zetros is a worthy winner. I think it was let down by having stickers. With premium sets Lego need to go premium and give us more printed pieces

The Ferrari looks good, it has decent functionality, and it is actually quite stable. Overall a bit of an overpay but it looks really good on my desk.

The two differential locking mechanisms consist of the same parts that would be used to create a transmission or distribution gearbox (lots of gears and driving rings). On top of that, the zetros is the only lego technic set to have that much torque, unmodified, out of the box! The central differential would always be a problem with RC off roaders, but with the zetros, the rear and central differentials can be turned into solid axles at any time! The zetros is the best out of the box, unmodified lego technic off roader!

I believe the volvo is better, though. It has more details, the gearbox does actually affect the speed of the truck, while in the Zetros the turning radius is the same with the opened diffs or locked: it's huge, it barely steers. The volvo has working steering wheel, engine and the bed works, while the mercedes just drives (and 99.99% of the time with the locked diffs, so you're not using that function anyway).
It would have been great if it was a good offroader, but the turning radius and average suspension doesn't help.
What is more, there was a photo of a 6x6 zetros, and that was much more eye-catching. That one might have been worth 300€.
The point of differential locking isn’t to increase/decrease the turning radius. Differential locking temporarily makes the central and rear differentials solid axles. So for example, all wheels have good traction except for the rear right one, which just wildly spins and the truck is stationary. By simply locking the differentials, power will travel equally to the wheels, and the truck will start moving forwards, instead of being stuck. In my opinion, that’s a far more practical feature than simply slightly changing speeds. I mean, the hauler does have pretty good playability, but let’s face it, it’s a terrible off roader compared to the zetros
