    Is it possible to replace a model K kilnsitter (no limit timer) with a model LT-K3?

    This was a great video! Thank you. I just bought an old Econo J14 kiln with my first kiln sitter. This information was great!

    What is the purpose of this component? Does it control the heat? I just got a large kiln and I'm thinking of deleting all this outdated junk and installing a Novus programmable controller and have ramp/soak options. I dont do ceramics but I might use this kiln for powder coating, aluminum smelting and casting.

    I just needed to see you change the rod! Lol. I don’t know why you didn’t show that part. That’s all I needed. Please show how you actually do that. Thanks. Also it would really be helpful if the camera were closer.

    If I want to just replace the sensing rod can I do it without taking all apart. It seem there is set screw on the trigger portion. It moves as I pull and push on the rod. Is it as easy as unscrew, pull rod and put new rod in?

    • @thekilndoctor1026
      @thekilndoctor1026  3 роки тому

      Sorry for the way way late response. The rod is attached to the tube assembly so you have to take it apart and pull that out.

      @@thekilndoctor1026 , I could not find a key that would fit into that set screw. Does one need a special one? If not could you telle us the size of the hex key that would fit ( To be precise , it's the set screw identified as part no. 19 in Dawson list) . Thank you so much!

    Where can I get a kiln setter like what is shown in this video? I have an old 120v small kiln with a hole in it that this would work on. I have always just watched it as it fires and use a Skutt manual pyrometer to know when to unplug it.

    Helpful but I have another issue, maybe you can help me. I just put on a new kiln sitter and it won't work. Everything is set up correctly, but wondering if the wiring is wrong. The plunger won't stay in. I put the timer on, the pyrometer cone is in place. But it won't click on.

    Thanks for this! I've been wanting to know which side of the cone should be facing which way. I've seen some videos placing the cones the opposite of this one and once wondering, wouldn't the cone bend the other way?
    I was wondering, some people use regular size cones and just cut it to small size. Is it safe as alternative just in case I can't get to access on a small cone? Thanks if it happened you reply Mr. Kiln Doctor!

      The way showed in the video is the correct way. Putting them in upside down could cause issues. Sorry for the way way late response.

      @@thekilndoctor1026 thank you! I was able to purchase some bars instead of cones on a local ceramics materials store and managed to fire mine at bisque temp. Now on the way to fire at cone 6 :)

      @@bidoro_12 Thats great! Keep in mind to check your rod regularly to make sure it is not bent. That will change the firing. Happy firing!!

    I replaced a switch in kiln sitter because kiln not operating. If the sensor rod needs to be replaced is it possible that could be the cause of it not turning on??

      Sorry for the way way late response. But we may have a used one that could work. Where are you located? For the manual most of the time you can find them online. Try contacting Evenheat they are the company that took over Gare.

    Hi there
    I have purchased a second hand kiln and my kiln sitter seems to only have one support , is this normal or do you think it's broken?

    • @thekilndoctor1026
      @thekilndoctor1026  3 роки тому +1

      No they would all have two slots to place the supports in. Additional supports can be purchased to replace lost ones.
