No fooling around ! Love how Mors would always speak with knowledge and tested throughout his years of experience. Long log fire, the true warming fire.
Fantastic video! We use different fires for cooking down south. We don't deal with warming fires or snow or extreme cold so it's fantastic to see Mors demonstrating this. I really miss Mors. :(
Wow what a awesome way of lighting the fire that way. I've heard of mors but did not know he was on youtube. Looks like he had a lot to offer to the community. Thank's.
He always emphasized and expressed a deeper understanding of what was important no matter how simple the task. Watching him make a simple fire lay, I walk away with a better understanding/knowledge of what’s important, parallel lay and to the wind. Thanks for sharing
I love how Mors brutally dispels bad information put out by people who fancy themselves as experts. I sincerely hope his proteges continue down his path as a purveyor of truths. The current and future generations of outdoorsman will greatly benefit from it. Please keep these videos coming.
I'm curious about posting and channel... So, was this channel actually Mors' channel or was it somebody else's channel that he has his recordings put on. I ask because my understanding is Mors died in December 2019, but there are videos being posted here in 2020. It's fine with me. I just was confused about that.
This channel belongs to Karamat Wilderness Ways. We worked with Mors for almost 30 years and helped to promote, produce books, dvds and these UA-cam videos. We still have some footage that will be worked on and hopefully put out on this channel in the future.
Many ways of starting a fire need to be practised and mastered but when it comes down to it use the easiest way available to you to avoid wasting time and energy.
Awesome method if you've got spruce. Try that with the hardwood where I live and all those twigs will burn down and out before the bark on those logs even turns black. Down here a split wood, teepee fire is the best method.
And that is why Mors called himself Boreal Forest Wilderness Survival Instructor, not Eastern Woodlands Survival Instructor. But, point taken, brother. Cheers!
@@BuckMckawtheotherone And I don't know anyone who teaches boreal forest survival teaching the teepee fire either, so it makes me wonder to whom he was referring? Cheers back at ya.
@@briargoatkilla Tee pee fires are made mostly by backyard campers who sometimes have trouble with starting them. For those who are transitioning from backyard fires to survivalist fires, Mors is showing how it's done in the Boreal Forest. Cheers bgk.
I think everyone knows that already, it is a natural thing to do. But what part of what he did demonstrate in this specific video did not work? (proved itself) and what part of what he said did not make sense?. It was just a demonstration on a specific point. I thought it was useful to showing what this type of survival fire may do for you and the fireplace works without spending the usual time and energy on tramping a lot of snow. When needing a survival fire on the spot, you may have little time and energy to spare. Not sure what you are aiming at here, but Mors obviously have shown that he has massive understanding of using (and making!) snowshoes. I am humbly impressed he even walked a bit here, considering his advanced age and condition at the time. What a champ. Wearing snowshoes in the video is out of scope of the point at hand: laying a survival fire on lots of snow. Will I continue to tramp snow for my no-emergency fires in snow? Yes. But knowing what the fire mechanisms with different fuel can do for you is a good thing to know.
He was not just a dang good Woodsman, but he had a sharp wit and unique sense of humor...i see this throughout his work...thanks Karamat...woods
"None of this teepee stuff..." Mors was brutal with his truths! 😂
Glad you have archive footage of Mors. Thanks for posting Karamat!
Every time Mors speaks, I learn something!

He was and still is the master of survival in the out doors. Happy Trails
Thank you very much for making my day! always a great day when you can watch and listen to the master!

Absolute Common Sense .. Genius in the Simplicity thereof.
Thank you so much folks!
In this day and age they should know that a teepee fire is not a Survival fire! Sage words from a master! Rest in peace Mors!
A lot of work these fires and tools are needed. Mors didn't mess about.............
Thank you for the video! So enjoy watching Mors!
I'll never forget Mors' teachings in his Northern Bushcraft book... best read ever.
Good guy to pay attention to
What a woodsman !! Blessings !!

Simple wisdom never stales. Thanks Brian 79
I love my winter fires. This is another incredible video from the master himself! Thank you for continuing this legend.
I love Mors he is very inspiring!

Not tipi stuff. Love Mors Kochanski videos.

See that's a fire I would use at all times
Mors was amazing! His most minor offhand comment contains a whole book of wisdom!
That went up better than I thought it would.
That was EXCELLENT
Love the outtakes
Is Kelly gonna post videos of his own someday?
When was this video from ?...A real Master !
👍👍
The master
Anyone knows what kind of anorak is he wearing?

@@loribreeuwsma9812 Okay! Thanks for the insight on that! Now I'm not confused about it. 👍🏽
Endless videos of people dicking around with flint and steel, ferro rods, etc. and Mors whips out a big box of matches and sets a blaze in one go.
True, but it is good to know all the ways of starting a fire and a good thing to have as a backup for when matches don't work.
@@loribreeuwsma Agreed. I was referring to the folks that view flint and steel as the standard, rather than an option or a novelty.
