Tickets at Steinbrenner Field are conciderably more expensive. They priced out some season ticket holders. The City of St. Pete, more than a month ago, identified 4 city funds they can pull the 56 Million dollars from to begin repairs. They even have gone through inital planning to do so. The Rays lack of commitment is holding up the green light to begin. Basically the City and County has the bonds ready for the new ballpark and the Rays are refusing to break ground and commit to staying. So the city isn't going begin the repairs. Infact if the Rays have not broken ground by April 1 the new ballpark is effectively dead. Funding wll likley be revoked, the current Rays lease will be bought out and the Trop will be history. The Rays will then be homeless for 2026. MLB will be extremely pissed at Stu Sternberg. Considering a stadium was planned and the municipalities provided the finding... MLB and other owners might prevent him from relocating and force a sale of the team. Its going to be an interesting spring / summer. Tampa can only hope Jeff Vinik steps in and buys the team. He divested from the Red Sox in October of 2024. So while previously this was a pipe dream, it could become a reality.
We have a disaster that unfolded in DC, and youre giving us an update about a situation we know is so toxic and fucked up that its impossible to unfuck. There should never have been an MLB there in the first place. What other update can be given from that swamp?
Moving to Orlando or any other city is not going to happen for the simple fact that the Rays already have approved, guaranteed money through the tourist tax for the development in St.Pete. The deal is done. Any other city would have to approve tax payer money to help pay for some rich guy's sports team and good luck with getting residents to vote in favor of that. The Rays owner (Stu) will never pay 100% it's not going to happen, he knows his only opportunity to get significant help funding a new stadium is to stay in St.Pete.
The only city that is set and ready to go is Salt Lake City. They have a good empty stadium they can play at whole a new stadium is built. St Petersburg is not a good baseball town and it's time for MLB to let the Rays move....a Channel called Sports Talk With Dad broke down all the possible locations. The White Sox will be the next to move. There is no way Chicago will build a $5 billion stadium and also build a new baseball stadium on the south side. Nashville makes the most sense for the White Sox. Baseball in Florida is great for sporting training not for full seasons. In St Pete there is just WAY now things to do. Beach vs baseball the beach wins every time
If it’s $50 million to repair the roof even if it’s only for 2-3 years why can’t the owners just pay for it, or St. Petersburgh pays for the $50 million repairs from the new stadium budget and the Rays have to add $50 million to the new stadium. It’s just greed

The Tampa Bay Rays reach out to the city of St. Petersburg in favor to have Tropicana Field repaired in time for the 2026 MLB season. Mayor Ken Welch says the repairs would be done in time.
I doubt the Rays will move anywhere because the genesis of awarding Tampa a MLB franchise was as a favor to George Steinbrenner and what he had done to popularize major league baseball. Are either of you in Orlando? No? Well how would you know. I've been here since last century.
Please relocate them to Sac permanently 💯💯💯
Nature did the Rays a favour. This dump should've beem torn down about two decades ago.
Why rebuild the roof when the stadium is going to be torn down in a few years
You really need to watch the local news and read local stories about this because you are terribly ill informed!
Seriously, it looks better. Leave it like that.
just move to Orlando!!!
The Rays future is in Nashville quite frankly
So embarrassing that not one, but two major league baseball teams are gonna play in minor league parks this year and next year
The only city that is set and ready to go is Salt Lake City. Beach vs baseball the beach wins every time
They should play with no roof for a season
They’re staying in Tampa. Quit your whining and get over it.
Move to omaha and Charles swab field after this year till they figure out there stadium
Grass...lol, it was field turf.
Anybody that's a baseball fan in Florida is a Yankees fan, Red Sox fan, etc. No one cares about the Rays.
I care about the Rays
@orlando_Stevie especially when they we're the Devil Rays
I like the rays
Anyone that grew up in the Tampa Bay area that was under 30 years old between 1998-2008 cares about the Rays.
This whole thing seems like just huge ass waist of money. The Rays just need to relocate. No likes baseball in Florida.
Nobody wants to drive to st Pete to see the rays move them to ybor or just relocate them to another state
Orlando or just wait for Olympic Field to be done with its renovations and move to Montreal in 2028
Why don’t they just move the rays to Oakland lmao
Bring the Ray's to San Antonio, Texas
Move them to Seattle so we can have two teams
Bye, bye 👋 Tropicana stadium
If it’s $50 million to repair the roof even if it’s only for 2-3 years why can’t the owners just pay for it, or St. Petersburgh pays for the $50 million repairs from the new stadium budget and the Rays have to add $50 million to the new stadium. It’s just greed
There are people in that area still struggling from the hurricanes. Do you want to be the politician who votes yes to $50 for temporary renovations when people still have garbage to be picked up?
$50 million
Remove the roof, build an awning, done. Not that difficult.
Ugliest dome/stadium in history
Orlando Dreamers
Memphis, Louisville or Indianapolis? 😊
@@desmondcastro3679 no no and no
@@desmondcastro3679 why are yall mentioning cities that have never made any kind of statement regarding MLB? You think they can just up and have a team relocated within a year without years of planning?
Get the parking lots in those cities available, no big league park is coming
@@BlackSaiyan24 Anything is possible!; The A's are now in Sacramento. Utah now has an NHL franchise and Portland may very well be getting triple A baseball back soon.
@@michaelleroy9281 Well, they could always build a multi in level parking garage and monorail line to/from the ball park.
The American League has some weak franchises and stadiums.
Just move the Rays to Montreal. The Expos had better attendance, they'd be closer to NY , Boston, and they'd have an instant rival with Toronto. Olympic Stadium is still operational, so they wouldn't need to put much money in it to get it ready for Baseball.
The Washington Nationals are the Montreal Expos. It didn’t work before.
Olympic Stadium is not operational it's shut down until 2028

Hope the rays leave tb
The Tampa Bay Rays reach out to the city of St. Petersburg in favor to have Tropicana Field repaired in time for the 2026 MLB season. Mayor Ken Welch says the repairs would be done in time.
There might be no 2026 season a strike could be looming
I doubt the Rays will move anywhere because the genesis of awarding Tampa a MLB franchise was as a favor to George Steinbrenner and what he had done to popularize major league baseball.
So, for Rob Manfred to approve the Rays moving to another city would be an EXTRODINARY stab in the back of the still powerful Steinbrenner name and family.
This makes no sense
