- Hey Horse Lovers! IT'S THE MOMENT WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! Today Ariel and Esmeralda will meet for the FIRST TIME! WILL THEY BE BESTIES?! How will Ezzy react to a new foal in her paddock? Will Belle accept Ariel as part of the herd? So many questions! In this video you will get to see the process of how I move Ariel and Bagheera into the new paddock and how I go about introducing all of them. Especially Belle & Ezzy! ARIEL THE BAY ROAN FILLY: She is a 5-Month-old weanling who was imported from a Ranch in Manitoba, Canada. She is a Brabant, Percheron, QH X and her color is BAY ROAN. She was completely unhandled when we purchased her 3 weeks ago from the filming of this video. I will be working with her then introducing her to BELLE & EZZY once she is ready.

BELLE & EZZY: For more back story information: in February, I purchased Belle from an auction and well... we discovered she was pregnant about 4 weeks later following a wellness exam and quarantine! We were completely shocked but also very happy. This will be our first foal ever born at Free Spirit Farm. Here is a little background information: Belle is a 7-year-old Dapple Grey, Draft who is just under 16.2hh. On 6/16/23 Belle gave birth to her MYSTERY FOAL at 1:15AM!!! We were so excited and overjoyed upon the foal's arrival! Belle had a beautiful filly and we decided to name her Esmeralda. Ezzy is bold, intelligent, kind, willing, and independent. We absolutely adore her and Belle! In this video you will get to see the foal training I have done with Esmeralda thus far. I believe in a calm, gentle, natural approach in regard to training horses (and foals). Watch to see how baby Ezzy does during her session today! I am SO THANKFUL that Belle (and Ezzy) came into my life.

This really shows how big Miss Ezzy really is. Ariel is older by a bit, and, of course, hasn’t been as “privileged “ as Ezzy… I’m glad to hear you’re waiting a few more months before weaning her. This was a remarkable introduction. Congratulations, Shae! You have a beautiful herd. Ariel will come around. She’s doing so well. This may have sparked a moment of independence but she’s shown herself to be smart and willing. Well done!
I can't help but wonder if Ariel would be larger if she hadn't been weaned so young. Maybe she'll catch up!

Ariel has really good horse etiquette! She knew to keep her distance until Momma Belle gave her clearance into the herd. I liked how Ariel watched from a distance and after a awhile tried to feel it out if she was accepted yet, which she wasn't so she waited patiently. So sweet!❤
I have a feeling that Essie is going to be the boundary pusher when they are introduced to the herd 😂

I love how much attention Ezzie wants from you. It's very clear that the difference between her and Ariel, is how safe and loved she's felt from the moment she was born.
Ezzy seems happy to have someone her own size to play with and I'm sure Ariel's training and socialization will improve now that she's got a friend to watch.
Belle is such a bossmare lol. She was tight with top-horse Jiminey back before she was seperated from the main herd too. While none of us saw it so we can't be sure, I like to imagine the fillies snuck off to hang out in the middle of the night while mom was asleep haha. Secret princess sleepover ❤
Belle is such a sensible mare. She protected her baby, then got to know the newcomer was safe and accepted her.. It is always lovely to watch Esmerelda moving so closely with Belle, but it will be thrilling to see you ride Belle at last. Congratulations on your successful herd integration.
I hope you take this as a compliment, because that is how it’s intended but if I woke up in the morning looking as beautiful as you do with no make up, I’d be a happy girl. Congratulations on your new herd!

The two babies see much better with them just alone so they can get to know each other. I think that was a very good decision.

Miss Belle took that as well as could be expected-- all moms need to be cautious of new playmates! There's going to be a lot of joy in that paddock with those two littles! 💜

I really have been surprised at how quickly Bella let’s horses near Essie. I know other horse channels I watch, it will be months and the momma’s still won’t let other big horses near their babies. Even when they live in the same housing. Lol.

I’m 😂watching Belle. She’s such a fierce Mama, running off anyone who dares to try and get near her precious little girl…. And then @12:31 she’s like “get out of my way kid” 😂.
I miss that sound of horses munching their hay. When Ezzy came up to you while chillin with Ariel ❤ Id actually forgotten that memory til watching that. Warms the cockles of my ❤ watching them bond.
I know herd dynamics can sometimes be tough, and I felt sad for Ariel when she was off alone. But when they got close to each other and Belle accepted Ariel it made me so happy. They are so adorable together, and I love how Ezzy wants all the attention. I haven't been around horses in a long time and watching your videos really makes me happy. Thank you for all you do, and for sharing it with us!

Ooooh, Mama was protective! Just seeing Ezzy greeting Ariel and dancing, then Mama swooped in and put herself between them. And then she was trying to bite Ariel.
It was good to see she calmed down.
I love the Penelope break we got, she moves like she has things to do, places to be. Also enjoy the diva side of Belle we got to see.
The way, how Ezzy just so effortlessly got left behind in the other pasture, without noticing. I think she’s gonna be easier to wean, but it’s still important to take it slow

Agreed, just think how much Ariel’s whole world has changed in the past few weeks. Taken from her mare in Manitoba, transported to the auction, then to Free Spirit Farm, quarantined inside the stall, the moved to the outside world with Bagheera, and finally meeting Belle and Ezzy. It must be overwhelming, but she seems to be doing fine. 🐴

Ariel likes to spread her hay. And it is interesting how Belle uses her size for changing the closeness. On the other hand, how willing Belle is on sharing “foal” duties. Belle accepted Bagheera easily. A wise, mature mate. Belle is young mare and a happy mother. Such a great female group and happy a environment. It is nice to have more mares at Free Spirit Equestrian Farm.

So sweet seeing Ezzy gently nuzzle Ariel and vice versa. Once they start doing zoomies together, it will be when Ariel really feels accepted and happy. Ezzy sure loves you and loves to be with you. It's wonderful to see. Hoping Ariel will be curious and accept more food's when she see's the other's chow done on the goodies. This is so exciting that Belle has accepted Ariel. And it melted my heart to see Ezzie go over to Ariel and befriend her getting up close, nuzzling her. Oh, this is so sweet!
I’m no professional at foal weaning. I only weaned one. But this is how I did it. I started with feeding the two in separate buckets but next to each other. Every day I would move the buckets more apart. Then I moved it to where they could not see each other but could easily get to each other. When they were both at ease with not seeing each other, I started putting a locked gate between them for eating plus a few minutes. Every day I increased the time. By the time Karizma was 6 months, there was hardly any issues. But we were lucky enough to have friends that we could put momma June in a different pasture for a few months.

I am just so loving all of this, just all of it. Ariel coming out of the paddock and then going into the other one, Aunty Bagheera just helping out by being there. Belle wary but then finally accepting Ariel, sharing the hay barn. OMG Ezzy in the hay barn, so obviously feeling entitled to do that! 😆

You know...this seems like it could be a great story line for a children's book. There could be so many wonderful side stories and lessons to be learned. Glad the new kid on the block was accepted into the neighborhood...see what I mean (?). Can't wait for more adventures of Ezzy and Ariel...perfect name for the book, too. 🤗 Bet you never thought in your wildest dreams you'd birth a foal and have a kindergarten paddock...and I bet you'd not give it up for all the world.

Shae, you have done such an excellent job with Belle, Ezzie,and Ariel to make their first meeting go so well! Bagheera was such a good Auntie with both babies and she is so calm with them! I know that Belle trusts Bagheera and when Belle saw how calm Bagheera was with Ariel , I think that she realized that she had nothing to worry about with Ariel being around Ezzie and made their introduction that much easier. Shae, your knowledge and understanding of horses really shows through and you have such good instincts about each horse and how they will react to one another. You are amazing! Congratulations on Ariel’s smooth introduction into the herd. You have done such an excellent job and should be so proud! Having Kyle there to watch their first meeting was so special. This had all the intense viewing of a daytime drama. The newcomer, the unbothered friend/aunty and the overprotective mamma with her child. It was full of dynamics with Ariel knowing Bagheera who was over the chaos, Ezzy curious and wanting to meet the new foal, but Belle was the parent who wadn't going to let her precious girl be friends without accepting Ariel. I love they are friends, but Ezzy is like a jealous sibling who wants the attention from her human mamma. The 4 gorgeous girls together ❤❤❤❤ Trust Ezzy to be a silly girl and get into some mischief probably showing off to Ariel. 😆

Even when belle would'nt accept ariel, ezzy would be her friend once she would be weaned. But it all went so magical. This two friends will have a bright future in your farm💖

This was just incredibly heart-warming to watch! So funny when you were first walking to Belle and told her to be nice to the new baby, and she looked right over at Ariel! And near the end when you were feeding grass to the baby girls and they had a Lady & the Tramp moment! So much fun to watch them interact and start to nuzzle each other...besties for sure!
