Now if only they had more diverse content and less Pokemon... They used to have so many different vids. Now it's almost exclusively Mario and Pokemon. NOT EVERYONE IS A POKEMON FAN!!!! They're just alienating some of their fan base by appealing to certain niches of gamers or fans....
I'm really curious about all the eras of Bowser voice acting that's been here on Dorkly. Like, when did Posh Bowser start appearing, and why did the VA go that direction?

I think Bowser is actually immune to the lava, but he's just a huge drama queen.
I mean original Bowser at the final fight of SMB1 cannot be damaged with fireballs so I guess.
I think he's just lonely and likes the attention.

for those who don’t know: if you kill smb bowser with fireballs he turns into many different types of enemies until the final fight but bowser is lavaproof later after his skin is burned off and dry bowser starts existing

I thought Dry Bowser is just Undead Bowser. Magickally brought back to Undeath by his Magikoopa regiment, or Kamek and Kammy.
Yeah it’s basically enemies in costumes which was the idea
In reality, the reason you fight Bowser eight separate times in the first game is because the first seven aren't actually Bowser; they're basic enemies disguised as Bowser via magic, hence why when you kill them with fireballs, they transform back into their original form, whereas killing the true Bowser in World 8 results in no such effect.
Now, as for why Bowser continues to appear over and over again in subsequent Mario games.... I have no idea lmao
The answer is magic. Specifically, necromancy. That’s why Dry Bowser is a thing; it’s an incomplete resurrection of Bowser. Consider the DS game of the Mario Bros and it kind of makes sense.
honestly touhg. Boweser was kinda fire proof in 3d world were he comes back after beeing fallen into lava for his second phase. His Big Bowser Form also seems to be fire proof.
Even if we dont count the first games (because obvioaly the creators didnt tought so far when they made the first games) It still dont make snese with the other games.
Maby he is resistent to fire but not to Lava. In the games he dont die from fireballs, he more like tripps and falls from the bridge into the lava when he gets hit by enoug fire balls. So the Fire balls dont hurt him he more like loses his balance because of them. Or maby he does get weaker because fireballs do give a little explosion when they hit something so maby the explosion makes him weaker.
@@estebanramirez1178 And those are the rare occasions he does die. Most of the time he doesn't die or show injury. He usually just get knocked out or a switch is hit and he falls several feet from something he either didn't know about or didn't factor or too tunnel-visioned to notice.

This sprite animation has gotten really good. Normally they just kinda stretch and rotate the arms and legs, but someone took the time to create pixel art for every frame of Mario’s movement

0:20 can we just take a moment to appreciate that Bowser is a good enough king to actually remember the name of one of his most loyal kingdom members, and actually cares enough to call out and correct Mario on the improper naming?
It doesn’t make him necessarily GOOD per se, but it does at least show that loyalty will actually be respected with this guy.

Well, in canon, ALL of his army respects him and is endlessly loyal to him. And he did come close of conquering the Mushroom Kingdom a few times.
@@chaosgreyblood very true, though rarely do we see that loyalty given any form of respect/recognition. This scene just kinda gives off the impression of a king who actually respects the loyalty of his army, and I find it a rather touching notion.

On serious note I thought Bowser is fireproof since he's like a turtle dragon that's why when he fall in the lava he can't die he's basically falling in water
In some games you can see he's vulnerable to lava. In New SMB he melts In lava to a skeleton for example. The only time he isn't is when he's big I believe.
@@Jester_Jean I thought that after reviving from NSMB, he becomes immune (or at least much more resistant) to lava
In the original super mario bros, you only fight the real bowser in 8-4, every other time it's a different enemy disguised as bowser (if you use fire mario to beat the bowser instead of collapsing the bridge, you'll see the actual enemy there)
We always see him thrashing around trying to get out so I assume it burns. Unless he just can’t swim but I think he can.
I mean both dragons and turtles aren't immune to fire. turtle dragons are no different. Their scales aren't impenetrable, even if they've reinforced them with something like gold, it'll still melt and they'll die if they fall in lava

Bowser has been through much worse just look at the ending of mario galaxy, he probably just survived normally. Getting out of the lava must be a pain in the butt though.

If 1-UPs are a thing ... why wouldn't everyone have At LEAST One in reserve before putting themselves in harms way. It would certainly explain how they are all back in their positions again no matter how many times Mario returns to a stage and stomps them over and over.
They're minions Bowser enchanted into decoys, hence why the sprite changes when you defeat them with fireballs. Just like how all the bricks are actually Toads.

I remember watching the old videos back in the day and man they've come a long way with their animations. Like the way Mario moves is just so fluid. These guys are really great at animating.
I was half expecting Bowser to grab that axe to break the bridge to send both of them into the lava below.

Thank You Lowbrow for the improvement in animation quality. I was never that peeved off of the tweening in previous years, but the dedication to the mosiac animation leads to better dimension and posing of characters.

Dorkly, I loved your content before, but after the prestige reference, I absolutely love it even more. That movie is an underrated gem.
I was expecting to hear another gunshot after Mario was told by Toad that "The princess is in another castle."
This was already explained IN GAME in the original releases of SMB. If you defeat any of the first 7 Bowsers with fireballs instead of dropping them in the lava pit, each and every one of them is revealed to be a Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Spiney etc in disguise before falling off screen. Only the Hammer Crazy Bowser of 8-4 is actually the one and only TRUE Bowser.
Later 3D games also confirm that Bowser can straight up Bathe in Lava if he so chooses, so it was never the end of him anyway.
And, to be fair, Bowser probably was killed at the end of the first game. But then they made more games, and so were like, "Nah, he didn't die after all."
Different stories, stock characters. It's a thing, you know? Like old puppet shows and fairy tales?
Take plot A, slot in characters 3, 5, and 7, spin some wheels, throw some darts, a story splorts out.
Never noticed it with my original version, and I always preferred fireballs

I see a lot of people commenting that in SMB, there are fake Bowsers. But in NSMB, you seem to fight the real Bowser in world 1, then fight him again in world 8 as Dry Bowser in the final castle and a slightly larger and more difficult version of his regular form in the true final castle. We actually see him getting his flesh back by being dropped into a cauldron filled with an unknown potion. I am assuming this is the canon reason as to why Bowser can go into his Dry form and back into his regular form so often.

A shame they couldn't do vids for other franchises as well like before. I mean, what happened to having vids about Mega Man, Final Fantasy, etc.? A lot of the Mario ones are great, but seriously, 90% of what they put out lately is Pokemon?! And not everyone's a Pokemon fan, so it's really alienating fans of other franchises.

The Bowsers from World 1 to 7 are in fact Fake Bowsers, which is why they turn into regular foes once you pelt them with fireballs. The real deal is in the last castle where he held the princess hostage. But I too couldn't help but wonder. How did Bowser come back alive in the following game called Super Mario Bros. 3 after he had been knocked into the lava at Super Mario Bros. 1?

And he must have been alive for a decent time, since he now has seven children of varying ages (some of which look a little young to have been sired before SM started.) .
Actually I suppose that means that whoever is the Koopalings mother was with Bowser for a pretty long time as well. So he obviously spent the entirety of the time between SM and SMC (or between SM2 and SM3, if you are talking about the original Japanese SM2) just laying low and starting a family. Maybe THAT's why we got Wart in our SM2, Bowser was too BUSY at the time to do anything.
Since magic is a thing, Kamek or other koopaling minion could just resurrect Bowser from dead. I mean, it did made Bowser a giant and undead in next games, why not reviving?

I was hoping for something a little bit more cannon: When you defeat Bowser using fire power he transforms into some other mob (personally, I've only done this on a few castles but never recorded which Bowser turns into which mob).
So, "Bowser" taking off his head to reveal the mob and have a conversation that way would have been really cool.

Actually it’s regular enemies disguised has bowser, think of how tanooki disguise the sleds in Japanese folk lore. Fireballing them reveals there true form
In Super Mario 3D Land you fight enemies transformed into fake Bowsers in at least three castles, and Super Leaves with dark auras are shown to be responsible for the transformations.
In the original game if you use fireballs t defeat Bowser he transforms into one of the other enemies as he dies. Implying that all the Bowsers you run into up until the final one are magically transformed to look like the real King Koopa.

Canonically, in the Super Mario Bros game from 85, the other Bowsers, excluding World 8 Bowser, are all Goombas in disguise.
No, each one is a different enemy, but you're correct on them being magically changed to look like Bowser. Fireballs breaks the spell and reveals their true form. World 2 is a koopa troopa I believe. World 7 is a hammer bros. 6 is a bloober. I don't recall the rest but they're all different types of enemies.

I can't recall all the different enemies, so my memories of this game are not flawless either as I wasn't trying come off as a jerk with my comment.
