Just picked up a D5 Artic and I love it! I purchased the D5 to wear as my GMT Master is out getting tuned up and I missed wearing a premium time piece. I found Vaer and was immediately impressed, specifically because it’s American assembled and in Cali! It really filled the void that my Rolex left since being shipped off for repair and is a bit more visually appealing especially with that double dome. I’m definitely a life long customer now! Thank you Vaer!
The upgrade of the tropical strap formulation from silicon to a tougher material is a brilliant move.
Looking forward to details on the bracelet upgrade features and specs when that becomes available.
Good on you for shifting to Sellita. I am not sure how you were able to source ETA movements up to this point. I am sure it wasn't easy, as Swatch really doesn't want to sell movements to third party makers anymore.
Re: Miyota 9000 series movements. They are going to be cheaper to keep. They are renowned for just not requiring service on as frequent a schedule as the Swiss movements do. ETA recommends a service and lubrication every 5 years. I assume that Sellita does as well. Many Miyota owners will go 10 years before visiting a watchmaker for cleaning and lubrication.
I would also say that the uni-directional rotor in the Miyota is a very simple and robust design, but is not as refined as the Swiss movements, which are quieter, silky smooth, and has a bi-directional rotor.
In my personal experience, in the watches that I own, the accuracy of the Miyota 9000 series movement exceeds that of the ETA elabore. The specifications are virtually identical on paper. The Japanese reputation for impeccable QC is well earned.
Great insights here, and agreed on all points! The ETA / Sellita options are a bit smoother & more refined, but the Miyota 9000 are more set it and forget it. Both good options depending on what you're looking for.
As with all of our goods, the Miyota movements not only go through QC in Japan at their manufacturer, but through a second round of QC, time testing, and regulation at our assembly facility.

I got the D5 Artic when it first came out. It's replaced some pretty good divers and its fits on the wrist better than any watch I owned. Had it in freshwater and saltwater, still looking good.
I own a D5 and a D7 both old radium tan. The D5 has been my daily now for several months. Every time I look at it, all the points Reagan brought up in the beginning of this vidio come to mind. He nailed it. Pictures don't do these watches justice. You have to get one on your wrist and see it daily in different lighting to appreciate just how nice these watches look. Just a quick glance and I get the time very quickly. Even in bright sun light the hands jump out and never get lost. I would say it's quicker at a glance to get precise time than my Seiko Turtle that I wore for several years as a daily prior to discovering the Vaer divers.
This design reminds me of my first dive watch, a Mondaine I got in 1969. It had an acrylic dome crystal and an aluminum bezel insert. The Vaer sapphire double dome with A/R and the ceramic bezel insert are light years ahead in looks and functionality. They still look flawless and ding and scratch free as the day I unboxed them. The plastic Mondaine crystal was a scratch magnet. Same for anodized aluminum bezel inserts. The exhibition back on the Vaer is icing on the cake. And the Vaer case shape and finish is curvy and sexy compared with that old Mondaines straight and square lines. I wish I still had that old watch but to be honest I would not wear it in place of the Vaer.
One of the features of the Arctics I really like is the broad sword hour hand. I see you guys are now using it on the Pacific. Good move. I see the Pacific has more lume than the Arctic and have been leaning toward buying a Pacific to get more lume as I drive at night and more lume would be a plus. If I could get the Pacific dial with a date at 6 like the Atlantic has that would probably be the best combination for my needs and I I would be ordering one right now. Hint Hint!

Now you're my favorite watch company not only beacuse your pices are beautifiul but bacause you are the ONLY microrand than makes solar watches, beautiful solar watches, and with less than 40mm diameter, my favorites are the divers. I wish you have the success that you surely deserve.

I've had a pre-order in for the D5 Tropic for a bit now as well as one for the C3 Korean Field. Super excited to add an Ameriquartz and American Assembled auto to my collection. I'd love to see an overview of the C3 Korean Field on the channel or a further explanation of what the Ameriquartz movement is.
I got the Korean Field last month (preordered in spring), and I love it. I'm debating the Tropic as well - had my eye on it for a while now!
I have the Artic D7 with the ETA 2824. Just got the new FKM Tropic Strap! Much better than the old one. Love the innovation with Vaer! I also feel like since mine is an ETA movement it's kind of a classic now since the switch to Sellita!

Do I need another dive watch? Probably not. Do I want one? Are there watch enthusiast that say "no" to that?
These continue to be some great options. They all look great but I do think the White Arctic and Tropic stand out IMHO.
And I also like the pride shown in the American assembly. I hear FTS is starting is starting to make automatic movements....something tells me you're already looking into that. Although the Swiss built up there reputation for a reason.

Dudes, I'm super impressed. I don't recall where I first heard about Vaer, I think maybe a vid by Urban Gentry, but I remember thinking "yeah, whatever. Never heard of em. These guys are just shills." But after really checking the options out now I can see what the hype is about. I look forward to having one in the near future, prob the unique Tropic, and wearing it proudly. Way to go! Thanks for giving us these great options. Love the curved and polished cases with the ceramic and domed sapphire. Overall very sexy!

I love the D5 Arctic White, it’s now my daily watch. I like it so much, I’m considering a D7….but I really want a blue watch and don’t need GMT functionality so I’m hoping for a Navy Version and in my dreams it will have BGW9 lume…..something about that ice blue color on a blue watch that is perfect. I’m also curious about the A5/A7 line, but I don’t like Arabic numerals on a watch unless they’re the pilot style 0-55 only, which would be really cool. An A5/A7 with the Atlantic/Arctic/Pacific face in white would be great. The only other thing is that while the premium bracelet is nice, if they added tool free micro adjusts…glide lock…ratchet…whatever for on the fly adjustment like Monta has….the D5/D7 line would be perfect. I tend to be brand loyal once I find a brand I can know I’m getting quality from….easier than shopping around. Vaer is pretty close for being that for me in the watch world. I very much recommend them.
Any plans for more color ways like green or bright blue with date?
Dear Reagan & Ryan, thank you for the update on Vaer's Divers line-up. Looking for my second Vaer (happy owner of a C3 Tradition Black USA :-) and noticed D4 Solar Divers are sold out....could we expect for the next iteration of Solar Divers the Pacific colour way (i.e. Omega Seamaster 300 style)? Definitely would pull the trigger ;-) greetings from this side of the pond! Luís

Love the watch, but I really wish the indices and the bezel lumes were not randomly different. Some lumed, some not, some sticks, some round...what is the reason for this? Am I missing something?
That’s what I love about the watches…..gives them their unique character.

Great question! The majority are applied, though on some of the watches they alternate between painted on and applied.

Great question! The blue hue is actually from the internal AR coating, so in order to get rid of it, we would need to eliminate a functionally valuable feature of the watch. You'll find this blue hue on most modern, premium watches out there, as the AR coating is very useful for increasing legibility.
