In 1988, Michael Davies knew Archbishop Lefebvre and Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger personally, as well as several other prominent canon lawyers. Here he breaks down the tricky business of excommunication as applied at that time to Archbishop Lefebvre, and as was just applied last month to Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò.
But what is "latae sententiae" excommunication, and how does it happen that a person can excommunicate himself? Michael Davies breaks it down, using the exact code of canon law used to pass the sentence.
Also explained: the reality of schism and its consequences. And Canon 844 in the new code of Canon Law has you covered-just wait until you hear what it says!

No, but you can be excommunicated for schism and direct disobedience of your office. That's what happened. You can't be both a pious Catholic and a schismatic.

Those who have trouble taking this seriously, I invite to read the Alta Vendita, which is the Masons' playbook. In this plan, they specifically wait and plan for a 'pope' with precisely the characteristics of this Francis fellow, who follows their orders. Read the damn book!

I’m not Catholic but have started the RCIA program as that is all that is available to me it’s a 16 hour drive to a traditional Latin Mass
the priest who is head of the churches in our town here in Australia are from Nigeria the bishop is from Nigeria as well I was told we are very lucky to have them specially the bishop or church would close
Well my question is
One of the priests I was told has asked the bishop if he can do a Latin right something like that I was told it’s not the Latin Mass
But it’s in Latin or at least the priest does know Latin
How can I do anything as I’m not Catholic to help others want this and encourage more to push and how do we do that?
When I said at the RCIA that I’d love to go to the Latin Mass 2 of the 3 older people who grew up with the Latin Mass laughed at me

I said well I think you have missed the point of what the Latin Mass is. I’ve been watching this channel and Fr. Alar’s talks and it’s amazing I want it so much
When I go to the mass we have I’m up down trying to follow a laminated page to know when we have to say this and that
I can’t connect to God as the chatter is full on
I am thinking of taking ear plugs and just trying to shut out the noise and try to connect to God
This is new for me but why I can’t feel God there is so sad huge beautiful Gothic Cathedral i thought I’d feel Gods presence
@@catherineb2463 Have faith in God first, later on you will find Him and feel Him. I'm sure in the course of your life you have ups and downs, there was an stance where as if everything is lost and finished, but you failed to recognize thatq there was a hand helping you up, that is God doing good to you thru other persons or instances. We can only comprehend Him, approach Him, and feel Him thru the eyes of faith. Try to pray much and read the bible, you will find Him I'm sure.
@@catherineb2463 Hello. That is simply not true that those who grew up with the Latin Mass didn't understand a thing. English was always alongside Latin in the Missal. It takes time to watch the actions of the Priest at the Altar to see where he's at when following the Mass in the Missal but in time it will come. God bless.

? Is the St. Paul seminary only for novis order priests ? Watched some of the ordination for this year and it was all done in English and frankly looked so different from other ordinations such as the FSSP and ICKSP . Do they not study Latin ?
10:20 - CCC 844 (Canon 844): 'if you have a moral or physical difficulty in attending church in your own rite (Roman / Latin), you can go to any church that has valid orders (valid priest, sacraments). ' - i vaguely remember hearing about this in college (studied canon law for part of a semester). Now, can only imagine what some FSSP priests think about the existence, interpretation, and application of this canon. Interesting dilemma.......
No dilemna. Obey the Holy Father. Davies, you, me and everyone else are not above him. Lefebvre and Vigano are excommunicated.

Excommunication would go invalid if it has no legal grounds...And if it has no doctrinal bases based on the True Catholic teachings of the Church...
Both Levebre and Vigano were validly excommunicated. In fact, for each of them, they were latae sententiae excommunications (meaning they happened automatically because of their canonical crimes).
How is it that a non Catholic is Vicar of Christ? Someone explain this to me.

Lefebvre and Vigano are both excommunicated. Pray for their souls, in the case of Vigano that he repents before he goes to hell.
You are certain Lefebvre is in Hell?

Vigano should issue a reciprocal excommunication of Francis. He is the one who has continued participating in heresies and according to various Doctors of the Church has lost the Papacy.
this is just justifying schismatic behavior. it's unfortunate that lefebvre died outside the Catholic church. and now he is suffering the consequences of his pride. I pray vigano does not pass on in the same state of sin. but every new thing coming from vigano, he seems more and more unhinged. but I will still pray that he gives up his schism and repents from these mortal sins.
You are claiming to know the fate of Lefebvre's soul?
Incorrect. The law exists to save souls, and Abp Lefebvre did what he believed he had to do, to save the Catholic Priesthood. Absolutely not schismatic behavior.
@clarkkent5442 Fr. Hesse was appointed theologian by John Paul II. He has his Doctorate from the Pontifical University in Rome in theology and canon law. Ordained as a priest in St Peter’s Basilica, Rome, in 1981, he served as secretary to Cardinal Stickler between 1986 and 1988. He was associated with the Society of Saint Pius X and its founder, Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre.
Fr. Hesse has much to say on the documents of Varican ll "A Summary of Fr. Hesse’s talk on the documents of Vatican II" and "The Schismatic Pope" Fr Hesse exposed the truth that refusing to obey a directive of a pope does not amount to rejection of his authority generally. One might be entirely justified in refusing a papal direction. Accordingly, the claim that Archbishop Lefebvre and Bishop de Castro Mayer and the bishops they had consecrated were ‘in schism’ was false. What was implied in Quo primum entitled them to refuse obedience to Pope John Paul.
My belief is that the same principle can be applied to Archbishop Vigano.
