That's what I loved about all those L.A. Noire VR no commentary videos. The game is so much more hilarious when you see the protag do something funny and just give an "OK" symbol with their hand or make finger guns. Silent comedy is a lost art.

7 hour war occured in 1997. Russel looks to be in his 30s, we're somewhere in 2000s - the ages check out, he was a 20-something nerd.
There was no Wikipedia, no Google, but there already was a couple websites, a whole bunch of porn and encyclopedic information. He might be the kind of nerd who got that PC-to-VHS connector and stored the internet, 4GB at a time, on old VHS tapes (since hard disks were still really expensive)

@@biliboyjenkins9064 I played the game too. It feels like some old video game logic shouldn't hurt in this situation. If you store a magazine with 6 bullets left into your backpack, you should have 6 more bullets added to your magic ammo pool. Hopefully they can update the game or someone can mod it to be like that.
@@chrystales6169 As much as this kinda breaks the immersion, it's something that makes the gameplay significantly more difficult. And difficult in the bad way.
Well, you can always invent some stupid explanation for yourself. Like, for example, Alyx doesn't have enough time to manually reload dozens upon dozens of magazines.

No HUD and no subtitles is really appreciated. About as immersive as it gets for us non-vr owning plebs. Thanks bro

Say what you will about the graphics and physics engine, the most realistic thing about this game is finding loose ammo and military grade tech scattered all over an Eastern European city

I can't thank you enough for this: almost completely uncut, competent and fun gameplay while not sacrificing the story. This is the best pay through I've found, thank you so much.

@@Themataus100 He very likely downloaded only documents, history books, wiki, etc. Russel also had access to the Black Mesa servers, as seen on one of his screens.
@@Themataus100 Jesus, was video even _on_ the internet back then? Took minutes just to load a JPEG of some titties. GIF was a thing, but things like MPEG and MP3 were brand new and not popular at all. Also, wiki wasn't launched until 2001 so you'd probably get more info like that from an Encarta CD.

The neat thing is, as a viewer, we are essentially acting as Russel if we consider the footage we're seeing as being his live feed. Now keep that in mind of what Russel's thinking when Alyx is taking her time searching bins and portable toilets etc, you know, as her father is headed to his death.

You're right in that the suppression field doesn't affect animals, it actually only affects humans by not allowing certain proteins to form during pregnancy or some other alien science plot magic™.
However most complex species are dead thanks to leeches and antlions out competing and killing everything. Hooray for introduced species

seeing alyx take a break from fleeing authorities to roll a tire throw pliers at a car and go down a slide is absolutely hilarious
I love how HL:A has an interactive environment that makes the game feel more alive
Like how Russell gets pissed when he was disturbed
And how the markers can actually draw
It's more interactive than other VR games
I've been watching this for 5min. I'm so god damn impressed with the attention to detail! And then... you can put a bucket over your head. I've never been more impressed. Truly amazing

It's a dystopia that makes Oceania from 1984 look like a paradise and yet here you are sticking buckets on your head and throwing things at animals.
Hmm, at the beginning of this video: A Valve logo appears with the echoes of the “Open your Mind” Guy. It’s kinda scary to me since we loved Half-Life Alyx.
Just a little tip: If you reload in this game before the mag is empty, you don't get your bullets back, they're gone forever (unless you pick them up that is)
@@hannibalburgers477 can only store full mags, makes for hard decisions; walk around with one bullet and hope you can reload fast enough, or drop it for a full mag

I’m very happy you’re playing this! I had yet to find a proper playthrough in which people don’t talk too damn much, in where they focus enough on the story and keep moving on but also take enough time to show the environment. And you’re giving JUST that! I think your videos will be the best way for me to get the most accurate experience for the game, which I likely won’t get to play myself! So thanks very much. (One tiny tiny request tho, you cut out a small parts every now and then for the pace, but I would honestly like it more without any cuts whatsoever. Makes the video generally flow better)

The physics in this game are insane, dude grabbed a junk tire off the ground and rolled it across the floor. That was a room he was passing through, such detail!

Really love your playthrough man. You take the game seriously yet you still make it fun and enjoyable. It's also fun to see your personality shining through as you react to your surroundings!
The game tells how the Combine relies on both technology and living beings to work on... eh on average conditions.
Two things- The fact you look around and react to things without voice, it’s just great - I get to imagine what you’re saying or thinking XD$
Also- the scientist guy makes me think of Wheatley for no apparent reason
Ewwww the Quarentine Zone makes me think all too much of The Flood from Halo
This playthrough has got be my favorite of this game. =D Loved all the interactiveness you showed, third watch thru of it honestly. You had me laughing a lot!
