A lot of lore mistakes in this video... For one the Combine rule in several universes not just ours! They can jump from one universe to another but can't teleport within them thus why they need Black Mesa/Aparture's portal tech to be able to spread within the universes they invade.

You can harness the space-time curved motions of the Black hole. Using that, you may travel in time and travel any limited space in short time ( teleportation ). "Time is relative btw" - Einstein, meaning any evolving living things can exists at the other dimension and study the laws there while their primary universe is dying within the cause of nature to let it happen or just us ( such as pollution but universally ).
You don't actually need to kill Jeff, only imprison him, so, technically we don't know if that's canon :D

Don't know why Judith would be that close to something like that especially since she was with the resistance if anything she was a spy for them on the Combine's activities which is probably why they made her out to be the other way around during the reveal in Nova Prospect. Of course the question remains on what character even for this VR title, where was Breen during all these events because he wouldn't have been in the citadel (which seemed to have been under construction) so where was he being kept.
@@cursedhawkins1305 I'm pretty sure it could be Judith. The shadow seem to have the same kind of haircut Judith have. It could be possible that Judith worked with Breen and thus the Combine for longer that we thought!
@@kulkisJulius I don't believe it is her, in HL2 we only see her a total of three times in the main campaign as well as a cameo in the following episodes since the game is supposed to take place five years before those events its more than possible that Eli and her might not have run into each other yet, yeah they might have worked at Black Mesa but that was the past compared to the present heck Eli or Alyx doesn't even mention her once during their interactions with each other, not even Russel so I'm almost certain they didn't run into her until sometime down the line.
Cursed Hawkins It’s still a possibility even if Alyx and Eli haven’t met her yet. And Judith mentions in HL2 that she wasn’t at Black Mesa. It s almost obvious that it’s her. The haircut, tha was she talks.
@@kulkisJulius No I do think she was at Black Mesa just a different area we never visited in HL1, Eli did say she was up for his job at Black Mesa but his experience is what got him the position, that doesn't mean she wasn't hired for a position somewhere else in the facility. Remember what she says when you first enter the airlock! "I've been hearing about you long before the Black Mesa incident" Someone like Judith who seems to be more aware of the incident than she lets on makes me believe that she was at Black Mesa just in a different area but was able to see the experiment take place which is also where Alyx mentions this "you should hear her drown on about how it should of been her in the Black Mesa test chamber that day"

Not only. They confirmed G-Man's role in the series as the puppet master and that vorts actually helped free him from G-Man's "employment". This changes who your antagonist is.
@ G-man is not even the puppet master, only a tool for said master. G-man works for his "employer". Plus, we already know that the vorts helped free The Freeman, but in the events of HL2:EP2, G-man is still talking to Gordon, which means he still think he can use Gordon. In this game, we know that G-man officially releasing Gordon and took Alyx instead.

But neither alyx nor the combine realy know who "g-man" is. He never says his Name in any game, we only know his name from the game files. So if the combine would tell her that they've caught some Kind of a mysterious man able to travel in time and space, i think alyx wouldn't belive it but instead think that it's a trap.

Right? He was being protected by the vortigons, not in the void, so I saw it as a symbolic image of him being fired.
This all depends on where in the g-man's timeline it is.. If it's post hl2 then it's cos he is saved by the vorts and no longer in the employ of the g-man. but if pre hl2 then it's that he refuses to help. but he decides to help when ask to help earth at beginning of hl2.

@@INF2.160 The difficulty is not easy. I played on hard mode (the hardest mode) and it took me several days to beat the game. One zombie takes almost an entire magazine to kill, heavy combines take 2 shotgun bullets at point-blank range, antlions take an entire smg mag to kill without missing, and in the endgame, you are at the brink of running out of ammo / healing. And I played like I do in Skyrim, saving every single resource till this end. Don't even mention the lightning dogs, those things are near impossible to kill in hard.
The problem is normal mode is NOT "normal", it is much much easier than hard. I beat the game without dying once on normal, and you are left with many excess reserves.
JK It’s not easy, but it isn’t hard either.
It’s more difficult to go against enemies than in flat, since you have to physically reload and aim the gun.
I actually think that the way they connected this to the other games is really interesting! I cannot wait to see what happens next, if Valve decides they will do anything at all, of course. It may have been from a younger Alyx's perspective, but this actually is just a story of how G-Man goes back in time to make things go his way when Gordan Freeman becomes... a free man.
Honestly, the only thing you really needed to gather from this game is that G-Man went back in time and hired Alyx as his new... tool and now that those series of events has occurred, Gordan is now free and Eli Vance is no longer dead. But now that Gordan truly is a free man, what do you think he will do? The rest of Half-Life Alyx is pretty much irrelevant. But what comes next? How about this...
We prepare for unforeseen consequences.
The next Valve game I hope actually brings Portal into the mix as well since Portal 2 Clearly takes place after or during the events of Half-Life 2. Maybe the next game will focus on the Borealis and what kind of a ship it really is... maybe it can tie into how to... interact with the G-Man and in turn tying the Portal series back into the Half-Life series.
Yet I wonder what unforeseen consequences that will bring along.
1:17 it was a 7 hour war
When I got to the green energy part, i didn't know you could just throw it, and instead would flick my wrist upward in the combine's direction. This resulted in what I can only describe as me feeling like iron man. By far one of the coolest parts of the game.
The ending shook me.
Like, it took me a bit to figure out what happened.
But now I've got it. Right after Eli was kllled, Gordon refused to work with the G-Man any longer. In doing so, G-Man used his abilities to reset certain events. Namely, the last moments of Episode 2. This results in Alyx reviving her father, but with some time-mumbo jumbo, has been taken by the G-Man and put into stasis, and now Gordon, Eli and Dog must save her from her captors, and hopefully take down the G-Man, and maybe even his employer's in the process.
Actually, G-Man already take interest in Alyx during the "Heart to Heart" scene in Episode 2.
We can assume that G-Man already fired Gordon at start of Episode 2.
@Marky Playz G-Man is strong, but he can be defeated. A group of vortigaunts manage to stop him.
Episode 1 is the only game where G-Man is nowhere to be found.
It could be either:
1. Vortigaunt is protecting Gordon from G-Man influences
2. G-Man travelled back to the past to hire Alyx.
Either way, G-Man is playing 5D chess here.
It is really fantastic work from valve. You know, the ultimate problem of prequels is that everybody knows how will the story end, well not this time. Valve just have shown to everybody how prequel could alternate the story of well known, 13 years old storyline with fatal cliffhanger. Which is of course the bonus because the main thing was to make this game at least as good as the previous one. And that is something that wasnt easy to achieve after 13 years of making the half life godlike by the fans, so to dissapoint the fans was very much easier. But well, they did it, they did it great, and its not just perfect game, its a perfect VR game and they show to everybody not just how to make a great VR game but also how to make a working prequel with unexpected ending.

I love the fact that Larry is wearing a spiked colander on his head, presumably to protect himself from the ceiling trap things. Wearing a hat can have a *distinct advantage* when you accidentally come to close to them. Also wearing the respirator mask is good too at certain points. I wore a helmet and respirator pretty much the whole game.
This game was so fantastic, best VR game I’ve played so far.
Half life: Vortigaunt. Basically oddworld, but now you can fight back and Freeman sometimes help
After so many years we finally get this! Yaaayy!!! I was hoping for a continuation from where the game originally ended but this is also alright for me👍😎👍 Half Life has been going through so much as it already is and we all deserve other perspective from other characters as to how everyone else coped and here it is. Well appreciated and cannot wait to get my hands on it!!!

When he called the galactic and enslaves species across the universe triggers me. The Combine mostly only go from one Universe to another conquering 1 or more systems for their natural reasources and species value in their army.

I am curious as to how you knew about the Gman realizing that Gordon Freeman tried to alter events. Like when and where was Gordon trying to do that?
During the post credit scene Gman is watching Eli and Gordon, look left and he will be standing there on a platform. Also the phantoms that Gman creates during his conversation with Alyx could indicate that multiple/alternative timelines/universes are created with each choice.

Kingsservant83 As much as vr can cause motion sickness, you can get around it.
Just stop playing when you start to get sick, have a fan blowing at you, drink ginger ale when you are sick, and slowly build up an immunity by playing more intense games.
It’s some of the most fun I’ve had since getting a pc many years ago.
This is probably the best way to retcon an event without risking too much of the main plot, gman was always warnings us for our choices so givving us an even deeper choice of change was fitting as long as it suit gmans power to do so by our actions.

Interesting how valve decided to take hl3 in a different direction than they thought 13 years ago. They did it so brilliantly that I’m just in awe. I shed a tear when I saw the ending scene because finally the story will move forward.
This is not half life 3 if you were to count blue shft, opping force, source, death match, it wiuld be half life 6

I'm still confused about how this new revised timeline plays out, since this is a prequel to hl2. If alyx is put in stasis at the end of this game, does hl2 end up continuing without her? Or does gman just let her go then and plucks her out of the timeline later
I think he lets her go without remembering this talk so the rest of events up until that moment can happen then she vanished after the advisor dies

@@smugglersolovr6182 It’s how I’d write the story. Time travel stories are fun but difficult so I usually like to misdirect so it looks like it will be time travel then it just isn’t.
it probably takes place in an alternate timeline and it will probably combine with the normal one in a new entry

The ending makes me think that Alyx has made a 2nd timeline where Eli didnt die so Half-life plays in 2 different timeliness now?
Much like the zelda timelines?
There are multiple timelines, but the main of is The Freeman timeline. Think of it this way, there are a bunch of times where the player died during the game. That is one of the timelines. There are also a part in HL2 when the player accidentally destroys the car or the boat and a text will say "Assignment: terminated, Subject: Gordon Freeman, Reason: failure to preserve mission critical resources". So there are alternate timelines, but the one that we follow is The Freeman timeline
Just think of it as out of all the timelines the real one is the one where Gordon or Alyx (the player) win. Play the "Lost Coast" it's set before HL2 but with a later Gordon.
I like to know how Portal fits in all this. As both Portal and Half-life take place in the same universe.

Just finished the Alyx as my first VR game with no idea of what Half life universe was all about. This made everything clear. Now I can join everyone in waiting for the next Sequel where we save Alyx. Thanks

There are several plot points across two games about keeping Eli Vance alive. I’m thinking he’s more important than both Alyx and Gordon.

I’m still just wondering how exactly this fits with the story. Is half life 2 just trashed now? I mean Alyx is in the game the whole time but if she’s existing outside of space and time before the second game does that mean that she isn’t in the second game at all? Or is half life alyx a different universe than half life 2 and does the choice this Alyx make affect the Alyx in the universe where Eli dies?
My theory is that time in the Half-Life universe works like a VHS tape. At the end of Half-Life 2, G-Man puts Gordon back into stasis to await further employment and we don't know what becomes of Alyx. At the beginning of HL2: E1, the vortigaunts "overwrote" that ending and freed the Freeman and the Alyx Vance from G-Man's grasp, and effectively created a new timeline that was beyond G-Man's control, which we played through across the two episodes. In response to this, G-Man went back in time five years (and here's where the VHS analogy comes in) and created a timeline in which the Combine "captured" him (all part of the plan) and the events of Half-Life: Alyx take place. The section of time during which the game's events take place is overwritten, as well as the ending of HL2: E2, like a VHS tape being recorded over at those points, but the rest of the timeline remains unchanged. So immediately after Alyx was put into stasis to await employment, the timeline reverted to the Half-Life 2 timeline, in which the events of Half-Life: Alyx hadn't happened, and Alyx was still present in the world. At the end of that timeline, which previously concluded with the death of Eli Vance, but which Alyx altered with a little help from G-Man, a new timeline was born in which Eli is alive, and Alyx, having been put into stasis five years ago, is now missing. It's a bit confusing, and hurts your brain if you think about it too hard, but it makes an abstract sort of sense.
My fear is that this means the 24 year old Alyx from HL2 and its episodes is now gone forever, and whenever we meet her again, it will be the 19 year old Alyx from HL: A, who never met Gordon Freeman and grew close to him over the course of the HL2 saga.
All the games are in the same universe, but this is very interesting. When GMan in Episode 2 forces Alex to say “Unforeseen consequences”, it leads to a chain of events that eland to Eli dying. This was a nudge by GMan. He made Eli die so that he can go back in time and trick Alyx into working for him after Gordon showed to be of no use.
Something to note is that it seems that vortiguants are required in order to contain gman. Also they seem to have similar powers but weaker
