    You might want to consider the differences between how a Roman legionaire was trained and how HEMA practices. The gladius was not simply with a "large shield." It is intended for use in a formation. The reason that the Roman Army was as successful as it was, for as long as it was, is because legionaries were soldiers rather than warriors who essentially fought mob handed without any formal structure. They often fought warriors, and with some notable losses, still were overwhelmingly successfull against warriors. Soldiers are members of teams. Warriors are not typically likely to fight in formation.

    Any good sword practitioner would probably enjoy the larger of the two Gladius, but you can always take the larger one and re-shape that big pommel to fit your hand better or you guys might think of changing the shape! I would prefer the bigger blade, but I would have to work on that pommel!

      @MrMusicopath their 79 dollal shashka with the 3 fullers was kind of tun, but left much to be desired. You get what you pay for.
