I watched so many ppl showing how to do this, but I could never keep up. This was the one that finally made sense for my brain. Thank you! 😄
only here so i can learn to make my ex’s tshirts into chew toys
LOL That's fine. You can donate them to your local shelter and you can have a whole bunch of dogs chew on the toys.
Thats a good idea
So funny!
Ex bf:i'm so cute af
You:no you're knot
Okay sorry 😂
hahahahaha sounds like something id do and should had done if i had a puppy back then he would had been sooooo pissted off an idea for the next guy ( evil laughing)
Found this video to make my puppy some toys, and she absolutely loves them! I bought a ton of fabric so will be donating the toys I make to our local shelter. Thank you for the great instructions!
That’s amazing! On behalf of my fellow rescue peeps - THANK YOU!
you are a very good instructor. because there is no way i ever would have gotten this without your help. So thank you for your help. your calm instructions explaining it over and over really helped. thanks so much
No problem! Thank you for responding!
Thank you for the video!! I just successfully made my first tug toy!! Yay!!! Great instructions, super easy to follow!
Good for you! Its a good feeling!
Made 14 in the last two days after your video. I’m gonna donate them when I reach about 30. All thanks to your video
Holy cow!! That’s amazing!
Love the instructions on this! It's made it super easy for my son and I to make these. Now we can donate them to our local shelters. :-) Thank you!
Thank you. I created this for our rescue so people who want to volunteer. Check out the how to measure the fleece as well to get consistent sizes. I find stuff sells better when the sizes are consistent.

@@renate19861958 so I have seen these done but they are bigger, wider and longer. My Golden has one 😊. So if I want to make a larger one than you made in this video do I need extra strands of material? Or No. Thanks for the video
@@angelamc3532 the larger ones were 2”x40”. You don’t need more strands just longer strands. Not sure but maybe wider as well. If you have a beat up old fleece throw, you can experiment and the pup can play with the mistakes!😉
Thank you! I watched several videos and this is the one that made sense to me! Really enjoying adding these to our homemade gifts this year! Thank you again!
Me and my grandma did this since I got this as an early Christmas present. I really enjoyed it. It’s definitely a new hobby for me. I do crochet and this seemed very similar and that’s why I enjoyed it so much! It was amazingly easy to learn and now I can give it to the animal shelters thank you!!
OMG! That’s amazing! As a rescuer myself, you don’t know how much this kind of thing is appreciated by the staff and the animals.
Great tutorial, so easy to follow. Thank you!
You are such an awesome teacher. My dog and I thank you!!
Great tutorial!! Thank you so much for sharing this ❤
Thanks so much for the clear instructions. If you don't mind, I am going to also try turning the transcript into written instructions for our volunteer toy making stations.
Beth Bostic hi. Of course. There’s a link on how to cut the fabric for max tightness.
Thank you, just made two, really easy to follow, thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you! Thank YOU! THANK YOU!!! I've looked at a few different videos trying to figure this out & I just could not wrap my brain around it. Something about the way you explained it, finally made it click for me! Maybe it was the 4 different colors but always starting with black (or whichever one you started with first). Anyway, I'm using my kids old denim jeans to make dog toys for our 1 year old Boglen (Beagle / Boston Terrier mix). He's a sweetie, but my goodness he goes through store bought toys in an afternoon, even the ones that say their extra tuff & extra expensive $$$. I had a bunch of clothes to take to Goodwill & thought, hold up a second here, I bet I can make him some good toys out of these jeans!!! So here I am! 😂 Sorry for telling ya my life story, but I sure do appreciate the slowed down directions with the colorful fabric. Have a great day!!!
Im so glad. The fleece once (you can use an old fleece blanket too) are fairly tough too.
We make them and sell them for the rescue.
@@renate19861958 Oh that's a fantastic idea! I think once I get a rhythm for them, I could make alot quickly. Now ya really got me thinking big now!!! 🤔
@@BooBooKittyFuzzyBritches thats great. Lots of rescues are desperate for funds. Even $100 can pay for a couple veterinarian bills.
Choose a foster based rescue. Or, sell them yourself and donate the money.
Making our corner of the world just a little better.
This is amazing, thank you very very much for this tutorial ❤️
Wonderful exposition for those of us who are directionally challenged.
I saw another video where they used an old pair of jeans. Your directions are much clearer. I'm going try this. I have a very aggressive chewer.
The key is making it as tight as possible.
Great job! I love it!!
Super clear and helpful.
This is the first instruction for this I can understand, thank you!
Aw….thank you! Everyone learns differently!
Excellent video! Thank you!
I made it and my pooch loved it ☺️
Thank you for color coding!
I’ve watched several I I get yours more clearly.
Thank youuu soo much I tried it and it worked 😭💕💕
Thanks for making it so simple
Thank you! I tried.
Thank you for the simple to follow instructions. I found you via my rat group, I'm looking forward to making a few for my boys and girls. I'll have to add in rings to the end so I can hang them in the cages.
What a marvelous idea. Maybe make extras and donate to a rat rescue! Hmmm wonder how natural materials would work.
i love this!!!!!!! thx!!!
Thank you! ❤️
Great video now I can make my class t shirt into a chew toy 🦴
What a great, straight-forward, and easy to follow tutorial! Is the finished size of the toy similar to the length of fleece that you cut?
I am interested in making this into a fleece leash tug toy for dog agility. I thought I could modify your tutorial to make it go over a leash, or use one strand of leash instead of fleece. Just wondering how long of strips I should cut for a 6ft leash. Thanks!
No. The one you see in the tutorial is 1” wide by 10” I believe. And I’ve done 2” by 20”.
Sadly I’m not mathematical enough I figure ratios. So I experiment. About double the length of what you want the toy to end up being would be a good start?
If anyone's ever been to 4-H camp or any kind of summer camp, and you had those plastic lace things I can't think of what they're called. But you learn how to do this not as a friendship bracelet with those things. So there's another way to do it as well
This was the only way I figured out how to do it. The video was for the volunteers in the rescue but it’s all over. And that’s cool. I’m not sure what those plastic things are you’re taking about?
There’s that thing where the yarn goes up through the hole and your basically knitting?
Good luck!😊
This is so fun!!!😅
Thank you!
This is great. Can you make a leash? Adding the clip and a handle? I can't find any place that show you how. I found leather and rope but not out of fleece.
Hmmm…I suppose you could. Not sure how to do the ends. The hardest part is how long 3 pieces of solid fleece strip you’d need. May be better off using three loooonnnggg lengths of rope. Then google knots (sailing sites) and find a knot that does what you want with the ends you are using. I imagine mountain climbing sites can help with that as well.
Cool how long did you cut your strips? If I wanted to make this for a bigger dog can I still use the same method?
Same method. I use 1”x20” or 2”x40”.
If you buy fabric, a bolt is generally 40” or 60” wide.
Theres actually a video i made to show how to cut the fabric.
ua-cam.com/video/iIvIl8i-zEA/v-deo.html
Very nice! Where did you get the fleece from?
I get it from a fabric store, hobby lobby or Walmart.
There’s a also a video I made on how to cut the fleece for maximum results.
I would like to be able to hang this up in my rats cage, how would you suggest I attach a keyring at the knot? 😊
Wow....I would try to get a key ring through the body of the toy. The knot could pull out if the rat is strong enough. The rest of the toy are nothing but knots. Depends on how tight you make it.
@@renate19861958 thank you. I will try to make it first. It's going to take and a while to get it right I think. 😅
@@kirstenpatel You're rejects could make some nice doggie christmas gifts!!!!
I would not cut the ends of the fleece but just fold them half when you are starting the toy - so make it out of two longer bits placed down in a "plus" as the start of the video showed... just fasten them together with a safety pin so they don't slip apart..... then instead of a knot on both ends you would have a knot on the finishing end and a loop on the starting end where you can then attach the keyring...
If I don't have fleece what other fabric would be perfect ???
Im not sure. Bit i would stick to natural fabrics. Cotton t-shirts work great too!
@@renate19861958 okay ☺️
what material can we use to do this? Can we use cotton?
I use fleece
Would you be able to do this with ONLY TWO colors of fleece or no?
You can do what you like with the colors. It’s when you have patterns your looking for in the finished product that makes a difference.
I used 4 colors to make it easier to see but when I use two, I make sure to braid it the same color order.
If the pattern doesn’t matter, go crazy 😜 🤣👍
Okay Tysm!
How long do we make the strips
As long as you want. I think the ones in the video are about 20” x 1”.
The wider ones are 2” x 40”.
I successfully made my first chew toy
Excellent! Im so glad ot worked for you!
This would be perfect, but the Walmart i went to for fabric had no fleece :(
Maybe a fleece blanket? Your better off going to hobby lobby or Joanne!
Maybe some nice fleece pajamas from the Salvation Army.
did this with an old child's beach towel looks like crap but my dog loves it i give it less than a week till we got to trash it
nope took 2 hours already picking up towel chunks
Fleece, tightly knotted, lasts longer.
@@renate19861958 lol yeah it lasted a day and a half lol i got a big poodle puppy rough tug of war player and chewer
Jamie Hankins LOL they can be determined little buggers.
@@renate19861958 oh yeah the standard poodle breeder i got her from said this one is a feisty bugger he wasnt lieing he had 2 females left i got to choose from they was 11 weeks if i had an extra 175 he would have gave me both a steal
i have commented
so you have
I'm here because we got a dog during quarantine and she have no toy
That is so fantastic that you are making the effort. I work with an animal rescue and dogs are just as stressed as humans at the moment so no one is at their best sometimes. I bet the dogs in the world are wondering "what did the humans do that they have to wear a muzzle?" LOL
Do u sell them or something 😂
Actually I do. I volunteer with a local rescue called Furry Friends Network. Sometimes if there's a sale I'll just buy some material and make them for the rescue to sell. Kind of like, my donation to the cause. They need to be consistent to sell so it took some practice.
renate19861958 omg cool
