I recently found this guy and boy does he break down products in a critical way that I may not have thought of. Tons of useful knowledge to gain from this guy. I don’t detail professionally but I like to take good care of my car. Glad I found him.
Excellent point on hangnails, vacuum cleaner attachment edges creating hairline scratches. Sounds trivial but it's all in the details like Darren speaks of. Great job!
This is not entirely accurate. While pigmented leather does have a coated surface, it remains breathable. Additionally, it’s important to note that the coating is only on one side of the leather. To keep leather soft and flexible, it needs to maintain a balance of water and oil, which can only be achieved through conditioning after the balance is broken. You may notice wrinkles starting to form rapidly on your leather seat after about three years (sometimes even earlier, depending on the moisture level in your area). This is an early sign that the leather is losing its balance.
Ok how do I preserve my cracked leather seat from further deterioration? I bought the car used with 60k miles and 12 years old, the driver seat needs help.
Got into an argument with a guy at work about his Toyota soft Tex “leather” He was telling me how after he used Adams’s leather conditioner his seats got so soft and supple. I was like dude you can’t condition plastic.
Does a conditioner do the same thing as a leather coating? Because I know the coating prevents it from getting dirt, dye transfer. also can conditioner be used or worn or faded leather?
Darren, do you have any tips on how to either prevent or treat for the stress wrinkles that form over time on many leather seats? I see these mostly in the corners in my vehicles with that 'coated' leather solid sections.
My basic answer for car leather in general is the more diligent you are with keeping it clean, the better everything will be, including getting less of those permanent stress wrinkles. Past that, I have yet to see any conditioner or cleaner prevent them entirely or any method to get rid of them other than the re-dying process which is literally like paint and body work for your car seating.
Hello Great video, I learned a lot. Question- I have a 2018 Mustang w/ a Katskin leather interior. Since they mentioned the coating that you talked about should I shy away from using leather cleaners and conditioners in favor of using simple green and the quick detailer and quick wax? Don’t want to damage my leather interior. Thanks
Great question. These white pads feel very rigid and stiff when new. They soften up after awhile of using them, but you can speed up the process by wrestling with them with your hands like you would to break in a new baseball glove.
Does the car leather coating on seats negate the usual consideration taken to consider the type of leather:(soft) Nappa Leather, Leather, Synthetic Leather?
i like to just compare this layering situation to layering tire dressing on dirty tires. tires that are visibly brown and are still being dressed. itll just sling everywhere and ruin the paint, wheels, ur wallet
I know...all the technology I have to deal with on the back end makes my head want to explode. I think I have finally figured out the problem. Except that I have a constant stream of videos that get shot, then go through editing, so there will likely still be more videos with this problem for the next week or so until all the old vids have been published, and the new one's with the problem resolved begin to air. Ironically, I had to set my wireless mic to mono instead of stereo. I had many people complain about this for the past month and I kept checking my camera/ wireless mic making sure all settings were set to stereo, only to have to set to mono to resolve the issue.
another great video again buddy. ur not insinuating that auto detailing companies would lie 2 us and sell us endless products products. lol.b well good friend

Another good point. Thank you for taking the time to make such a video and sharing detailed information about how-to CLEAN leather first.

We just give our leather a spritz of Meguiars Gold Class and microfiber wipedown every month or so. leather always looks great. Takes a minute.
That works also!
Auto Fetish Detail LOL!

Thanks a lot for all the great content. I’m about to start my car detailing biz soon and now I have a good idea on what products use. 👍
Hi Darren, have you considered that the polyurethane coating could be semi-permeable?
Got into an argument with a guy at work about his Toyota soft Tex “leather” He was telling me how after he used Adams’s leather conditioner his seats got so soft and supple. I was like dude you can’t condition plastic.
In all fairness it still does make the plastic clear coat soft and supple lol
thnx for the education.

Great information... the average person doesn’t know there leather has a clear coat 👍
EcogreenDetail their not there
michael lowe and?
.. other drugs.
So if there is a clearcoat on the leather then no need to condition it if the clearcoat stops it from being absorb. So just clean then?

Question on the white pads, do you pre-soak them to soften or does it not affect them and can used moistened with the cleaning solution?

Sure it’s cause they are in high demand but would be nice if CSI restocked the way & retailer in the gallon size
in the Netherlands csi is t available and wonder what is the alternative any detailer any liquid wax
Does the car leather coating on seats negate the usual consideration taken to consider the type of leather:(soft) Nappa Leather, Leather, Synthetic Leather?
Simple answer: No, it doesn't negate that.
Great video!
Why are king ranch seats difficult to clean? I haven't cleaned any before but I've heard they are different than other leather?
very interesting👍

Audio is off when you are wearing headphones but if you turn them off they work.

You don't put this crap on leather shoes, why you putting it on your seats?
Btw most people's leather coating has worn off.
to much rambling on not a worth the time video
Good infor but way too much blah blah overbloated speak. Chose words carefully, get to the point faster with less fluff.
