What a personality. I came here from an RIP post posted on my timeline on Instagram. I got here because I was so inspired and impressed by this man, the historic nature of this performance. But now I'm impressed by the man's humor as well as his gift and talent. I just discovered them and he's gone. Rest in the eternal peace young man. Thanks Emmit.
this is so cool seeing tootie heath still rockin
What a great drummer. I am 71 and still play the drums. I wish I could play even longer. This amazing drummer is an inspiration to all of us. His cymbals sound amazing at his touch!!!
Three instruments! Bass piano and Tootie Heath. What music they make!
Bill Evans level
I have to say: Philip Norris on bass is fantastic!
YAYAYAYAYA!
What a knockout I'm 81 theres hope yet, back to the wood sheding.youve got to have a sense of humour at our age and tooties got it and what a great drummer he still is.
👏🏾👏🏾
Percy and Jimmy have preceded Albert, Tootie, whose timeless talent shines brightly...: What a wonderful man - clearly enjoying himself in very fine company.
I love the sound you band , I listen from Patagonia Argentina
Milei!
I Love this! Tootie on fire!
YAYAYA TOOTIE BABAY
Note to any jazz musicians playing Santa Fe. Invite Tootie along. Who knows where his between songs banter is gonna go, but the audience will love it. And the guy still has chops.
Thanks Emmet for another beautiful soothing music. Love it! Tootie's drum sounds like a ban.
"Ladys and Gentlemen, this next song is not a Calypso because Im 88, it will be a Collapso!" says Tootie. No, he still is a great drummer and a great joker!

Tootie is a piece of work...got to love his irreverence.
How the hell is he still that damn good
Tootie is a better standup comedian than most. I hope i will be this sharp in the mind and hand at his age
Tootie for President 2024
@@lukeasacher Ha ha ha!
@@lukeasacher And greetings from Sweden. I am 78 so I am too young.
Greetings to you from New Hampshire, Staffan! I'm 63... :) @@staffanolofsson8201
Roy Haynes, who has an unmatched legacy as a jazz percussionist, is still playing at age 97. If they stay clean and sober, drummers get the exercise essential to longevity.
Mmm mmm mmmm, so nice!
j aime le trio EMMET COHEN
If more people listened to this... there would be no more war. Thank you thank you thank you
You are hopefully right!
Genius!!! ..and LEGEND❤❤❤
Thanks!
Love from Japan ❤
The biggest challenge of playing drums is using the hi-hat (those 2 cymbals that clap together with a "chic" on the offbeats). Most drummers don't. Remarkably, Tootie still has it going. (Takes an iron-willed left foot.) Nice to hear the ride cymbal--most recording engineers exclude it on the final release.
I remember my old dad. He was 102 before he died. And he always at his last years tried to make people focus on his age. Like Tootie Heath does in this video. Maybe this is why I love Tootie with his jokes about his age? Me myself? I am now 78. And I am starting to make jokes about my age.

4:36🔌📺 🎼🎵🎶 Hi!🙌❤️
Does anyone have the setlist?
I'd like to know the name of the tunes but specially the last one, I know it's a classic, I've even played it, I just can't recall the name
Long live Tootie Heath!

8:46 Milt Jacksons Bad Groove is starting. It has a pretty long starting distance but then it is up in the air. And what a flight!
No, they have taken away the first minutes of this livechat performance. The right moment when Milt Jacksons tune starts is about 4:30, more or less!
Could anyone tell me the title of the third tune, the Billy Strayhorn one, I believe, thanks in advance.
It is "Lush Life". Billy Strayhorn wrote this song himself.
