I do not understand why the prosecution is t objecting to the defense testifying for the witnesses! It’s leading question after leading question. I wanted to hear what his mother would say. Instead, the attorney spoke for her!
Please, stop calling them his stepchildren. They were never his stepchildren. They murdered them before Lori and Chad got married. I cringe every time someone calls them his stepchildren. I thought Ron Arnold did an outstanding job.

@@shadoejones3288but it wasn’t an issue. If it was the judge would’ve declared a mistrial right there, but it is the truth and the judge addressed it with the jury. Many legal analysts have already addressed it and said they see no appellate issue.

I totally disagree with the attorney on your show. The witness was not trying to be “comical”, he lives Rexburg and Chad CLEARLY lied to him about the children & the children were buried in Chad’s property-- the witness is pissed at Chad who he attended Church with. Many people are pissed at Chad. So the witness was not trying to be comical!! Far from it!!!
Agree, Prior's questioning seemed to have intention of portraying him as careless. Suggesting about lack of credit check (while it's reasonable to not do it from start if the current owner comes with potential buyer), same with the acres. Prior took a gamble on that Arnold would not remember the size of it. He wanted the witness look fuzzy even if it was about details of less relevance for the case. So it was more of a snarky reply for the witness realise what Prior's purpose with it. The attorney on the show appear tone deaf if he really believe it was done as a comic skit.
Unprofessional ? He isn't representing his profession he is there to talk about his personal relationship with a child killer.

There’s probably not the only kids buried in that yard, and I’m not really talking about fat boy but all of this was Native American at one point. Someone had told me that fat boy convinced his children that the bodies dug up were actual pioneer children instead of kids wearing pull-ups nighttime and target pajamas. I don’t know if that’s true but it’s just shocking to me. 100% gaslit his own kids I’m sure they’re entire lives.

This is the second time I heard a lawyer commentary criticizing this witness for “clapping back” or in this case, “trying to be a comedian.” I find it interesting that lawyers have a totally different perspective than laypeople on this situation. It seems lawyers want to blame the witness for messing up the case potentially forcing a mistrial like the witness almost has an agenda to deliberately do so or is showboating for that publicity or something. To me, Prior pissed the guy off by trying to make him look incompetent in his job as a realtor. And I honestly don’t even know why he did that. With the coroner, at least I understood the strategy. With this guy, his competence as a realtor was irrelevant to his testimony. But Prior kept trying to trip him up for some unclear reason … implying he had a duty to credit check every potential buyer and THEN that he should know the exact acreage of every property (even those he doesn’t have officially listed) off the top of his head. As I see it, from this witness’ POV, Prior is firing off a series of “gotcha” questions to make him look bad and potentially threaten his own livelihood in his community so when the guy quizzes him on property he owns himself … it was a natural reaction to “clap back” at that point. As I see it, the situation was all Prior’s fault not the witness’ fault.

John Prior OPENED the door for the State’s redirect question regarding what the realtor thought the purpose might have been for Chad’s desire to place a manufactured home on his land.
Prior ASKED the realtor to speculate about that, SUGGESTING a possible reason. That opened the door for the State’s question. WIDE open. The judge’s comment before the redirect essentially overruled objections to the state asking that question. The State’s redirect was WAY less leading than Prior’s and parlayed MUCH less speculation.

Chad sure was confident going around worrying about purchasing real estate and claiming to people that things "will be fine" when his wife is sitting in jail because she can't produce her children. I think Prior took over the land in leu of payment. Chad couldn’t afford to pay him anymore, Prior then tried to get off representing him but the judge denied that, so guess the only way he was going to get payment was getting the property

This is not an uncommon thing. When defendants don’t have the money to continue to pay their attorneys they sign over assets.
