Still a good watch :)
I'm about to make the same switch. I love pretty much everything that I've read and seen about Galaxy Watch 4, except I'm dreading the battery life. 45 days to 2 days :(
One of the longest pain points is smart watches on Android and I feel this watch has substantially improve that opinion. Like You said there's still some things I don't like primarily that I cannot use Google Assistant. I will say over previous Wear OS devices I have used one of the major pain points I always had was sensors for heartrate was awful in terms of accuracy for workouts, compared to how much better the Apple watch is. Luckily the software and the hardware is so good on this watch I can say I can finally leave behind traditional arm or chest heart rate monitors and use just this.
Wireless charging is a mess on all Galaxy Watches so far. Samsung uses a non-standard current for the watch so it only works with compatible chargers or ones that can adjust their output. Funny thing is only a minority of Samsung wireless chargers work with the watch4 and if they do it's not guaranteed that they work with the watch3 or active2 so it's a gamble if they will work with the watch5 or 6 😂😂 And on Samsung's website it's a whole nother level of chaos with the spec sheets of some chargers stating that the charger is compatible while multiple reviews say it's not but compatible with one that isn't mentioned on the spec sheet and so on. 100% a mess if not using the original watch charger or reverse charging.
i feel like now, a year after the release of the watch 4 classic, it now makes sense for people to buy 1, but not just anyone, obviously smart watches will never be a thing for everyone, but for example if u work in a place where the phone policy is more strict, but still want to be able to check notifications, send quick text messages, answer calls, or listen to music, all without taking out ur phone and risking the chance of getting in trouble, a smart watch makes quite a bit of sense, and they aren't even that expensive if u buy used, i recently bought a great condition used galaxy watch 4 classic for a friend for about $90 US, which is crazy cheap, it's also a great idea for people who work out a lot, including myself, as it makes tracking reps, miles, heartrate, and how long u rest and how hard u work much much easier, it's just a good idea, it's not for everyone, but if it entices u, it's an amazing investment
@@natsumi4416 Very good! Good enough in fact that I'm not even tempted by the Watch 5. I get about 1.5 days of charge (raise to wake), which could be better but isn't terrible. I work from home so I suppose that makes it more bearable. The available watch faces and complications are good, if not *quite* as good as the Apple Watch's portrait display allows for, but still very good. The build quality is good, weight is good (lighter than Apple Watch but still feels high-quality), the screen is excellent, response to input is excellent, Google Assistant works perfectly, GBoard works well as a gesture-based keyboard, and Samsung's new velcro nylon watch band is almost as good as Apple's (the Apple version is wider, a little softer on the skin, and has a bit of elastication in it). So, overall, I'm extremely happy with it.
@@MikeStevens Ahhh I see, thank you for telling me this 😁 Do you mind if I ask one more question? Does the screen get scratch easily? Cuz I'm tempted to buy it but I'm pretty clumsy
@@natsumi4416 I haven't scratched mine yet, after a few months of wearing it regularly, but I did scratch the screen of my Galaxy Watch Active 2, so it might just depend on whether Samsung had improved the strength of the glass it uses (Corning, I think?). You can always just get a screen protector though!
Just bought the watch today. Wow! your criticisms seem trivial. I guess I wanted to hear how much better the watch is over others and neat tips or tricks. .... I'll keep searching.
One reviewer put it very nicely; if you have an extra hundred (or whatever diference of your local currency) to spare, go for the classic, but if you don't, go for the basic model. The only differnce is the rotating bezeel. nothing else. That's literally the only difference. My own garmin vivo active 3 (which needs to be replaced and why I'm looking at a GW4) doesn't have it, so I don't think I could miss it. In any case, I'm going with the cheaper model.
10:10 it doesn't support reverse wireless charging on anything but Samsung devices. It charges for about a minute on my pixel 5 before stopping but works fine on my mates s21
Had S4 classic from launch. My last watch was S2 active. I had high hopes on wear os but it's basically same watch. Animation/icon/ui all look same from tizen. Also some of wear OS apps don't work at all(Nike runs app). Battery barely last 2 days. Lastly sensor is not accurate at all. I've been using Samsung watch from S1 Era. Just stuck with Samsung watch because it is best android watch. Had Apple watch 4 couple years ago and it is still the best smart watch I ever used. Even better than latest Watch 4 classic. Don't like iphone so I'm stuck with Samsung watch.
Although not a Google Wear based device the Garmin Venu 2 plus makes an excellent smartwatch, now that it has voice assist features, has an excellent battery life and plays equally well with both Android and IOS. Just saying!
I replaced my galaxy watch 4 with the Venu 2 plus and I love it. The fitness features on the Venu 2 plus are amazing! I didn't realize Garmin had amazing fitness smartwatches. Well worth the entry price. Oh, the battery lasts about 5 days with heavy use. 1.5hrs at the gym and a daily gps run, plus notifications and pulse-ox tracking at night with continuous heart rate and stress tracking.
I was very disappointed with the GW4 battery life. It’s pathetic at best. I ran it up against the AW7 and the Apple Watch beat the Samsung watch. Used to be never like that. Samsung always had the better battery. I have had every Apple Watch and galaxy ones. I will say, Apple is more appealing now. Imagine if both companies allowed use on other operating systems?
Same problem with mine. But I have another problem, during workouts or even during the day, heart rate tracking stops during some time, and comes back randomly. We can see this better while tracking some exercise, it puts only a line with dots in the graph of Samsung Health, when is missing HR values.
Since no one's commented I'm curious to see what your thoughts are. I'm looking to get my wife a new watch but I just want it to be the right one . Thanks friend.
Great review man. I have to say though, I don't know if you're played the Witcher 3 Heart Of Stone DLC, but you look a lot like Gaunter O'Dim, my favorite ever villain lol. Cheers.
I like the fact that I could text while wearing work gloves using the slide to text Gboard and being able to skip tracks/adjust volume while playing music but other than that, expect wildly inaccurate sensor ratings for the health things. That's if you can even get it to work without spending an hour with your fingers on the sensors and your arms in the air like an idiot. Updates every single day that take a huge chunk out of your battery which isn't even great to begin with
The whole point of the Galaxy Watch is the Rotating Bezel and if you don't get the Classic version of the 4 you might as well just get a Fossil or the Tick Watch Pro 3 Ultra.
I love this watch but I always take the bus and while it's available on google maps on my phone. There is no "transit" option for google maps on my watch and city mapper doesn't have my city. So, that's a bummer. All in all, I love this watch though
I really enjoy my Galaxy watch 4. But as of now I had to send it back to Samsung to get it repaired because one of my sensors completely stopped working for some reason. But I still do have my fossil gen 6 and my Michael kors Gen 6. I can't wait for those two watches to get wear OS 3 ☺️☺️
I just ordered the 40 nm last night. I was wishing I ordered the larger size. But unsure now. I currently have the galaxy 3 and Samsung S20. Waiting for the Sansung s22 ultra.
I got the Galaxy 4 from T-Mobile yesterday for free, and I am anxious to use it and see what it is capable of. I'm not a watch wearer, but who knows, I may become one.
@@AmineAmine-vd2fs Technically the watch is free. You pay for the added line for the watch, which for me was about $12 a month. If I had wanted this watch a month earlier, or the newer watch that replaced the 4, I would have had to pay the full price for the watch, and the added line for the watch.
Love my GW4 great battery life, but not really WearOS 3, this is just Tizan with Play store as the skin is heavy.just replace the that horrible GULL band on day unless you have large wrists.
I have a vivo active 3 and that one is charged in less than thirty minutes. Is charging it magnetically the only way to do it or is there an alternative?
Will it work on the gear sport cradle charger? I still wear my gear sport from 5 years ago and that cradle charger is excellent. My Samsung Duo charger is also good for it too.
I've had it for just one month now and it's my first Smartwatch so I'm still a noobie here. The only thing that gives it the fastest charge is only by turn it off. If something new comes in the way I'll edit my comment further...
idk anyone that has the original strap. also the classic is damn near the same shell has the gear frontier which has lasted me 6 years i am now only upgrading
I have tattoos and I can't get notifications on my watch without taping a piece of silicone on the back. How can I get around this? Many of us are having this issue.
I wouldn't trust the heart rate monitor as far as i could throw it! It continuously hangs, misses measurements when exercising and has given me high hr alerts of 200bpm when I'm sat down and measuring manually with my fingers, i have a heart rate of 60bpm! I have replaced the standard strap with a better fitting velcro one and always keep the sensors clean and fitted well. Its garbage! Will stick to my polar H10 in future for anything related to fitness.
I briefly had a Galaxy Watch 4 40mm (about a week or two), but ended up returning it due to the lagginess of the touch rotating bezel and the (in my opinion) sub-par battery life, as well as the lack of familiar watch faces. The battery life was the main issue, however, with only ~1.75 days of battery life (I would take it off the charger in the morning, last an entire day + night, and then at around 4 or 5 p.m. the next day it would be at around 5 percent). Has this changed at all? I like the sleep tracking that the watch--and my current one--has, and I don't really like the thought of setting it on the charger every night. For reference, my Gear Sport, which I've had for years, still lasts an easy 3 days + 2 nights on battery, with me only having to charge it a couple times a week.

Another review not mentioning the inability of this watch to connect with Google work profiles, one of the biggest issues of this device if you expect something else than a step counter... Disappointed about the watch and all the reviews that don't stop repeating the same things and made me take a wrong decision.
@@AfafGhazy Android have something called work profiles. We just received ours yesterday and neither of us is impressed. Forget phone calls on the watch. The person you're taking to can hear you but good luck hearing them. The battery didn't last 24 hours for either of us and I used gray scale and didn't leave it on constant display. I realize there's a learning curve, but it's just too complicated. We have 20 days to return it, we'll give it a few more but we suspect it's going back. We wanted to love it. We're surprised so many people raved about it.
Did you return them?
@@MissSmurfey Yes we did and we replaced them with the non LTE option. Those have been awesome! We each get better than 2 full days on the battery and they've been working out great.
@@MarilynFromTarotClarity Nice 👍
I tried the watch 4 and 5 but returned both due to the weak vibration motor. I had long and strong vibration setting and was still missing calls, texts and alarms due to weak vibration on both models compared to my galaxy active 1 😔 how do you find the vibration on the watch 4?
@@MissSmurfey I don't utilize that feature on the watch. You can feel there's a vibration, but if you aren't paying attention it is easily missed.
@@MarilynFromTarotClarity Ok so its not just me. This feature is imporatant to me because i use it for my alarm for work since i wake up 2 hours before my husband and don't want to wake him. I slept through my alarm with the watch 4 and watch 5 so i had to return them sadly. I hope Samsung fixes this issue for the watch 6.
Have had the watch now for 3 months and I love it. Came from Amazfit Bip so this was a big upgrade. Battery life is not the best, 2 days is a stretch and you are right, that rubber band is horrible and I replaced it to a Nylon strap which is much lighter and doesn't itch my skin. Still a good watch :)
Galing
I'm about to make the same switch. I love pretty much everything that I've read and seen about Galaxy Watch 4, except I'm dreading the battery life. 45 days to 2 days :(
i just bought a opened box for 180$ waiting for it to ship om really excited because this will be a good upgrade for my fitbit versa 2
Had the galaxy watch 4 44mm since chris and this thing is beyond crazy.i luv this thing ❤❤❤❤
i feel like now, a year after the release of the watch 4 classic, it now makes sense for people to buy 1, but not just anyone, obviously smart watches will never be a thing for everyone, but for example if u work in a place where the phone policy is more strict, but still want to be able to check notifications, send quick text messages, answer calls, or listen to music, all without taking out ur phone and risking the chance of getting in trouble, a smart watch makes quite a bit of sense, and they aren't even that expensive if u buy used, i recently bought a great condition used galaxy watch 4 classic for a friend for about $90 US, which is crazy cheap, it's also a great idea for people who work out a lot, including myself, as it makes tracking reps, miles, heartrate, and how long u rest and how hard u work much much easier, it's just a good idea, it's not for everyone, but if it entices u, it's an amazing investment
I've just ordered one (and I'm a Samsung user), sooo... we'll see how it goes, haha. Thanks for the great review!
How has it been?
@@MikeStevens Ahhh I see, thank you for telling me this 😁
Do you mind if I ask one more question?
Does the screen get scratch easily? Cuz I'm tempted to buy it but I'm pretty clumsy
@@natsumi4416 I haven't scratched mine yet, after a few months of wearing it regularly, but I did scratch the screen of my Galaxy Watch Active 2, so it might just depend on whether Samsung had improved the strength of the glass it uses (Corning, I think?). You can always just get a screen protector though!
@@MikeStevens oh I see, thanks so much for the quick response😊
Please!!! Samsung & Google. Bring Google Assistant to this watch. Bigsby just can't cut it!
I hope the watch 5 is finally the watch that we're waiting for.. though it still won't work well with non-Samsung handsets
Just bought the watch today. Wow! your criticisms seem trivial. I guess I wanted to hear how much better the watch is over others and neat tips or tricks. .... I'll keep searching.
I've been struggling to choose which one I will buy. The normal version or the classic.
What would you suggest?
I have zero issues charging the watch in my Pixel 6.
@@ESCO2 my pixel buds charge fine on my pixel 5 but the galaxy watch really doesn't like it. Maybe it's just my phone
@@nationharris Yeah, the GW4 refuses to charge on my Pixel 6 Pro.
But that's almost twice the price of an entry level GW4
Sideloaded Google Assistant..working without any issues
Really?
4 can change orientation so it can be worn on left or right side. I'm not the only one wearing mine face in
how is the Microphone and receiving calls on that watch ⌚️ I just buy it on black Friday can you please explain too me
Smartwatch Games run so smooth on the GW4. Combat Wear and Wearamon look so sharp. The GW4 is hands down our favorite so far... Until the pixel watch
I use it with Pixel 6 Pro and the only issue I have is that deep sleep doesn't track properly.
Same problem with mine. But I have another problem, during workouts or even during the day, heart rate tracking stops during some time, and comes back randomly. We can see this better while tracking some exercise, it puts only a line with dots in the graph of Samsung Health, when is missing HR values.
I have the Watch 4 classic 42mm and i absolutly love it
Would it be safe to assume that the performance of the Pixel Watch will be similar to this?
Since no one's commented I'm curious to see what your thoughts are. I'm looking to get my wife a new watch but I just want it to be the right one . Thanks friend.
Are you using a tempered glass on the watch?
Great review man. I have to say though, I don't know if you're played the Witcher 3 Heart Of Stone DLC, but you look a lot like Gaunter O'Dim, my favorite ever villain lol. Cheers.
I like the fact that I could text while wearing work gloves using the slide to text Gboard and being able to skip tracks/adjust volume while playing music but other than that, expect wildly inaccurate sensor ratings for the health things. That's if you can even get it to work without spending an hour with your fingers on the sensors and your arms in the air like an idiot. Updates every single day that take a huge chunk out of your battery which isn't even great to begin with
did yours have a screen protector on ?
The original band pulled at the hair on my wrist when putting it on. A new band solved that..
A lot of nitpicking. Is a great watch
Hi, Which sensor stopped working??
Great video, I'll join the smart watch market on the galaxy watch 6 or 7 if not some other smart watch
Really great quality review and I think I'm going to buy the watch!
Very informative review. Thank you
I just ordered the 40 nm last night. I was wishing I ordered the larger size. But unsure now. I currently have the galaxy 3 and Samsung S20. Waiting for the Sansung s22 ultra.
I have the active 2 and I always loved it. But I hate the forced Samsung apps. I'm swapping for watch 4 simply for Google messages and Google pay.
Well optus is giving this away with s22 at the moment, so kinda keen for it
Man please switch your recording voice device because it sounds so hollow and I am getting lots of bass from your voice. It really isn't clear at all.
When I'm at work I can't keep my phone on me. So when the watch is disconnected from the phone will it still keep track of my steps?
Ive had mine a week. Step counter is very inaccurate.
very cool face @1.59, is it a default one?
I got the Galaxy 4 from T-Mobile yesterday for free, and I am anxious to use it and see what it is capable of. I'm not a watch wearer, but who knows, I may become one.
Sooooo... Was it good?
@@SuperHomeGamer I actually like it. I don't wear it everyday, mainly when I'm running and during certain times. But yes, it's a really great watch.
So funny how those big corporation made us believe it is "we got it for free" 😅
@@AmineAmine-vd2fs Technically the watch is free. You pay for the added line for the watch, which for me was about $12 a month. If I had wanted this watch a month earlier, or the newer watch that replaced the 4, I would have had to pay the full price for the watch, and the added line for the watch.
Waiting for Google's take on the smartwatch
Love my GW4 great battery life, but not really WearOS 3, this is just Tizan with Play store as the skin is heavy.just replace the that horrible GULL band on day unless you have large wrists.
I have the watch 2 works great but I orded the watch 4 should be a good experience I hope
Any probelms you are facing with non-samsung phones??
I have a vivo active 3 and that one is charged in less than thirty minutes. Is charging it magnetically the only way to do it or is there an alternative?
desing elegant.luxury n rich.
for all genre
I have Google Assistant on my watch. Just look up a video on here on how to get it.
Will it work on the gear sport cradle charger? I still wear my gear sport from 5 years ago and that cradle charger is excellent. My Samsung Duo charger is also good for it too.
I just accidentally ordered one so now I'm just checking if it's any good
Just got the watch4 today...1st ever....wish me luck lol
I've had it for just one month now and it's my first Smartwatch so I'm still a noobie here. The only thing that gives it the fastest charge is only by turn it off. If something new comes in the way I'll edit my comment further...
The qi charging is really fiddly on the active 2 aswell it has to be in the perfect position! Annoying
idk anyone that has the original strap. also the classic is damn near the same shell has the gear frontier which has lasted me 6 years i am now only upgrading
I have tattoos and I can't get notifications on my watch without taping a piece of silicone on the back. How can I get around this? Many of us are having this issue.
Just noticed you live in Leeds. Not far from me :) going to get the watch next week. Thank for the review.
Does it work with the Nike Run App?
I wouldn't trust the heart rate monitor as far as i could throw it! It continuously hangs, misses measurements when exercising and has given me high hr alerts of 200bpm when I'm sat down and measuring manually with my fingers, i have a heart rate of 60bpm! I have replaced the standard strap with a better fitting velcro one and always keep the sensors clean and fitted well. Its garbage! Will stick to my polar H10 in future for anything related to fitness.
use the samsung wireless charger duo,you won't face any trouble
Nice review
Only con is the battery, I wish it lasted longer than 2 days.
I honestly don't understand the issue with charging watch before you sleep, while you're asleep or when you wake? Why do you need it to last 2 days?
SARAN saya... jangan pernah mau beli smart watch Samsung deh. Pengalaman pribadi beli belum ada 6 bulan Samsung Smart Watch Classic 4 sudah rusak, tidak bisa menyala sehabis dibuat berenang. Padahal tidak pernah jatuh atau terbentur..

Bro is facer app working properly in watch 4 44mm??
Might be the perfect watch to pair with my poco f2
While the honor band6 can stay with my iPhone 🤭
I'd have to get the classic for the bezel and better battery.
GW4 44mm has the same battery as GW4C 46mm
The interior is the same, it's just an exterior difference
@@melisasaatci i could have sworn the 46mm was just in the classic design and that was what I was looking for.
Two questions for anybody that can answer them is it viable for you wearing inside the wrist and are you able to have the watch utilized 24-hour time format but have your phone utilized 12-hour
@Melvin Frazier well I have an older Galaxy watch and wrist detection is terrible. If you wear it inside wrist sometimes I have to full ass helicopter my arm just to check the time and unfortunately it's completely synced up with the phone. 😭
Will this work with a 2021 motorola edge?
Gracias por la inf. (Gracias mi la inf.) (me encantó)
Can you answer WhatsApp calls from the watch?
I forgot I even owned one. That’s my review. There are better options out there.
Like what?
What about battery life
I am sorry, I donno why I could not catch up-to the script and voice. I felt script is unnecessarily complex.
Samsung watch 4 and 5 are not working with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 5G series. They are locked through software. I had to turn them back and get a refund.
Another review not mentioning the inability of this watch to connect with Google work profiles, one of the biggest issues of this device if you expect something else than a step counter... Disappointed about the watch and all the reviews that don't stop repeating the same things and made me take a wrong decision.
Please explain more , because i am hesitated to buy the watch 4
@@AfafGhazy Android have something called work profiles. If you work for an organization that has a professional Google account, in your android device you will get a new tab in the apps menu called Work. You will get here the basic Google apps like Gmail or calendar, wich are linked to that work profile. You can also download new apps that will stay linked to this work profile, and you can identify them by a small suitcase icon in the app thumbnail. Very useful to keep work and personal stuff separately. The issue here is that the Samsung Galaxy 4 doesn't recognize this work apps at all. Meaning, I can't access to work mail notifications or work calendar from my watch, which, in my case, it was the main use I had in mind when I bought the watch. Now, it only counts my steps and bike rides...
Google assistant is now available
Has anyone tried pairing it to a car media system? Does it work?
