    Its funny how big of a difference the width makes on the two. With them both side by side like that you an really tell. I like to watch these videos to hear everyones opinions on just about everything, even though i am more interested in getting the Renegade 1000 soon. But the Outlander is very cool and I like to hear about the upgrades to that too.

    Did you ever figure out what you power steering issue was on the older unit? I have a 2017 XTP 850 and since new there is basically no power steering. If in 4x4 and the bike is turning lots, I need two hands for sure. Dealer says it goes to limp mode when warm to prevent damage but it's useless if it never works. To turn around on asphalt you need two hands for sure.

    Does the belt slip alot going up hill ? I've heard it does on can am

      This is my third and I havent ever had a problem with that. I stick with the rule of thumb that anytime I'm going under 15 mph, I switch to low. I've never had to change a belt.

    • @danlux4954
      @danlux4954 3 роки тому

      You need to switch to low when forcing it.

    I have that identical one. Took it on the road, hit 68mph and felt super smooth. You got your two different keys too right? Also, my wife can handle that machine really well since it doesn't launch real hard

    Thank you for video. Looking at doing almost exact same thing. Going to maybe go from a 650 to 1000.

    Awesome bike but with all the electronics and being a first year model are you at all concerned with the reliability?

      BRP has been using throttle by wire since 2015 on the ski doo sleds and it works well.

    what about the power of the new 1000r compare to your 850?

    • @tjreishus
      @tjreishus  6 років тому

      I'll have to get back to you on the power. I do things by the book. During the first 10 hours the manual says not to exceed 3/4 throttle. I'm still working on the break in period. I should have the 10 hours done by today. But if I remember correctly from my 850, I still gained quite a bit of power after the 10 hours. It seems to take more than that before you really feel the full power of it. I will let you know after its broken in.

    • @tjreishus
      @tjreishus  6 років тому

      I was able to get the 10 hours in yesterday so I was able to go full throttle. The power is noticably more.

    Your 2016 should have the tri mode power steering also.

    • @tjreishus
      @tjreishus  6 років тому +2

      I should have clarified. The new power steering will adjust to your speed. The 2016 has 3 modes to choose from but it won't adjust to your speed. This one delivers more power at slow speeds and decreases as you go faster. I can tell you it feels a whole lot better than my 2016. It is much more natural and works a lot better at slower speeds.

    • @richardp.228

      Curious, why have the older Tri-mode selection option on the 2019, if the power steering automatically adjust to speed. Can you switch between auto-adjust and Tri-mode selection?

    • @smaug1977
      @smaug1977 6 років тому

      @@tjreishus yes it will. All DPS from day one adjusts to driving speed. I use max setting and when driving fast there is almost no assist.

      @tjreishus  6 років тому

      @@smaug1977 interesting! I wonder why they advertise it as being an addition to the 2019 version of power steering. I can tell you for sure that the power steering on the 2019 feels a whole lot better and more natural. I've never liked the feel of my 2016. It was difficult, jerky and didn't feel natural at all. I loved how it prevented bump back, but that's about it. The 2019 is AWESOME! I always thought something was wrong with my 2016, but I test rode several others to compare and they all worked the same way. When asking my ATV friends what they thought about it, they agreed it feels very unnatural. Whatever they did to the 2019 to make it better, they perfected it. I have no complaints now.

    • @tjreishus
      @tjreishus  6 років тому

      I just added another video that talks about this. Long story short, the power steering is EXACTLY the same and they think there is an issue with my 2016 850. There is a drastic difference between the two. Thanks for bringing this up. It 's good to know why it's different and to let people know it's actually the same power steering.
