what's ironic is that I found out about your channel while looking up how to's for my mudding mower and then I saw that you have an 84 z50r which is what I have and you inspired me to take it out of the shed and make it a beast!
This was made in the summer. It gets hot in the garage so the fan is on. I should have not put the camera in front of it. It pretty much ruined the sound quality of the entire video.
Thank you, thank you, very much i knew the there was some kind of techniq to spliting the case and now i know. i'v been looking for some thing like this video for a couple of weeks now, thanks!
You can replace the cam chain by removing the flywheel, ignition plate, and cam sprocket cover. It's a little tricky but patience and little fingers make it possible.
ya im going to need a crankcase puller now. cuz i banged the shit out of the crank while holding up the casings and no split what so ever...needa find me a puller!
your video rocks, excellent work, i just replaced my crank and piston and plan to have it all back togather soon. i got the parts off Ebay, genneration cycle in california.
:D..yeah.. i figured it out. I'd rather ask first then to mess something up though. Just finished getting the transmission out. Next step is getting it into the z motor. I hope the flywheel and clutch basket don't give me too much trouble. It was a lot easier to work on the atc70 bottom end since it came half naked.
It could be bent. If you ever dropped the bike hard on the left, it might have gotten bent. Only solution is to cut the left side flush with the case, then pull it out and replace it.
That bolt you pointed at 3:12 isn't on the atc70 bottom end. There's some kind of a shaft there that lines up with the shift star on the other side. How would I go about getting that off?
do i need to remove the clutch case, and all the things on the right side of the engine to split the case? i have the left case 1 inch off, but it gets in a bind on the the countersprocket shaft. i already killed that seal.. should it come off? thanks.
quick question...obviously you know yer shit bout bikes...do you HAVE to take the flywheel off to split cases in this case on a cr80...i would think the crank would stay on that sprocket side, i actually stopped working on it right now cuz i cant get the cases apart and i dont have a flywheel pully. any tips?
hi alex, ihave a 79 z50 and I wanted to give the motor more power so I was if I can put a ct70 carb on it or a carb off something else because ican buy a new one on ebay for 22 bucks and a 20mm TB carb is 100 bucks. thanks
You will need the intake manifold from the CT70 as the carb bolt pattern is different. You may also find that the CT70 manifold causes the carb to hit the Z50R tank and cause fitment issues. Search Google for PlanetMinis, make an account, and ask there. The people there know a lot more than I do. It's been a while since I've played with these bikes and I don't remember all the details clearly.
@MeestaNoName go to DrATV dot com. Click on the tools tab on the left. They also sell a lot of other nice aftermarket stuff. The quality of most of their stuff is just fine for what most people do with their bikes.

I'm glad I was able to help. I'll have a top end removal and Big Bore Kit installation video in a month or so.
While I had the cases apart, I took them to high school metal shop and buffed the aluminum to a shine like chrome. It looked great!
If it's anything like a Honda, remove all the clutch parts and stuff, then take off the shift linkage near the drum. It should slide right out.

Correct. It will pull right out. But you cannot remove it without splitting the cases.

Yes, it's not pressed in. The bearings are pressed to the shaft but not to the case.
nice video but why did you have to take it apart anyway? thanks
Remove the pinch bolt. Sometimes the shifter can take a lot of wiggling to get off even with the bolt out. Wiggle and pull. It will come off.
What exactly do you mean by gear selector? Are you talking about the shifter you move with your feet or something in the engine?
It could be bent. If you ever dropped the bike hard on the left, it might have gotten bent. Only solution is to cut the left side flush with the case, then pull it out and replace it.
Cylinder is probably rusted. You need to take it apart and replace anything that is corroded.
So whent he cases are apart could you just pull ou the kickstart shaft and put in a new one?
Clutch nut socket.
That bolt you pointed at 3:12 isn't on the atc70 bottom end. There's some kind of a shaft there that lines up with the shift star on the other side. How would I go about getting that off?
Thanks bro 😎
hey alex,
do you have any video that you change from an automatic transmission to a manual? pls ans.
how did you remove the flywheel and the clutch pack nut thanks
do i need to remove the clutch case, and all the things on the right side of the engine to split the case? i have the left case 1 inch off, but it gets in a bind on the the countersprocket shaft. i already killed that seal.. should it come off?
thanks.
where do you get that special clutch socket at?

can u just make a detail video about engine honda c70? i hope u do..
There was play in the transmission I had to shim it.
Yo my guy we searched the video up because we got this far. No need to explain what you did
Remove the 2 or 3 bolts that hold it on.

Then why isn't it coming out? It's either bent, or you're missing something.

It's on the shifter...
No. You'll screw up the cases. You need to cut the shaft to get it out, then replace it. Just like I said before.
What happened to the sound after you set the camera down....It sounds like your in a wind tunnel, and you can't hear a work your saying....
I had the fan on. Sorry.
It should slide right out. Figure out what it's caught on.
I think something is wrong with it and you need to take it apart. Not sure what you think I'm going to say.
It unscrews.
I can't tell you for sure. I have never worked on a CR80. Don't want to say something and be wrong. So you're on your own. Sorry.
