  • I hope this can serve as inspiration or motivation for anyone chasing their goals be it in sprinting or anything else in life. I set this Goal along with a list of others back in 2019 didn't really have an expiration date more just something I wanted to do at some point. Really went after this goal after my first race in February putting up a 7.05 60m without blocks. After many lockdowns and everything I'd been through with injuries I thought this was my year if I'm smart enough and don't get injured. Although I have had some minor setbacks I still managed to achieve this Goal and I now believe with further work on form and getting more competitions and reps I can lower this time even more. The Scottish championships are coming up soon and might be my final race of the year depending on criteria but I've set myself nicely up running some decent times so far! I also would like to note that I've really done minimal work over longer distances in training so I think more of that will help tremendously definitely will do some 200m races early in the season next year!
    A few mistakes in the video/missing things
    3:42: Wet track in trainers so slower time also thought this was the 100m start line!
    18:23: Wasn't a 30m fly it was more of a 31.4m or something cause I used the hurdle lines to mark the fly zone so it was very rough and there was no tape measure so hard to really gauge it.
    18:42: went to hard in training during the week (when I was in oregon and LA) which I think kinda messed this meet up still ran decently well considering but it was perfect conditions for a Pr.
    Finally I'd like to thank everyone that's been part of the journey especially my coaches over at THP (John, Isaiah and Austin) and also my sister who coached me at my first meet and helped me a great deal. Also a huge thanks to everyone that's supported me it means a great deal.

      @QLEWOFFE1775. @everythingrunning. @snoebix5125. A few comments that might help. What I really like about the video is the short work. You get faster by sprinting. Focusing on short sprints. I prefer 55's is the way to go. You can do them until you your are not running your fastest. Our runners might do 8-10 @ 100%. One day a week (can be done once every 7-10 calender days) we also have a workout that I don't have the time specifics with me but it is a 250-200-150-150-100-100 full rest between the 150's. It's like 2 minutes between the other reps. Also don't forget working on starting blocks, this is where you can shave a huge amount of time. Work on reaction drills, work on drills chanllenging your balance. We also do 30 m starts.
      Don't forget to add strength. Weight room at least 2-3 times a week, exposive fast twitch exercises and rather low box jumps. Nothing to gain lots of bulk. Anytime other than the long run, if you work slow, you need to end with something fast. Runners love to use parachutes, which I do to but they slow leg turnover imo so after the parachute workout get at least a couple of 30 starts or 55's.
      Don't run 100's to get faster it won't do the job. After the first couple. performance will slow massively and you are not running at top speed. I have coached track for several years with two runners at a small high school running 10.83 and this is basically the plan that got them there. Both were state champs. Also a 55 state champ in indoor.
      DO NOT lift weights to gain mass.
      DO NOT train everyday
      DO NOT sprint full out on any other surface than your track. Especially sand unless you come back immediately with some fast reps on hard surface. (Injury prevention)
      DO NOT wear spikes all the time. Use trainers unless you have a race or some type of time trial you are doing. (Injury prevention)
      DO NOT run slow sprints.

For 20m fly best I've done was 2.09 back in 2020 during the winter after injury haven't done much 20m fly work since although I've ran 1.99 on the way to my 2.97 30m fly Pr and my all weather 30m fly pr is 2.91 with a 1.95 20m for the first half and a .96 for the second split but it was really windy on this day so It's not a true Pr.

    • @camyjumps
      @camyjumps  2 роки тому +1

      if you dropped a legit 11.19 on FAT then just compete a few more times and you'll get sub 11 basically as simple as that if it was hand timed then probs more a kin to an 11.4-11.8. Rugby players usually make pretty good sprinters timed one of my mates at a 2.12 20m fly first time trying it which I was impressed by. THP strength is the coaching (online) I use for training if you're serious about training even for rugby I'd recommend looking into it or a similar service! I use a freelap to time my run during session but you can also video time from first movement using the video frames like I did for all the times in this video apart from fly times. I'd definitely recommend sprinting on a track more but also be cognisant of it being more intense so maybe start easing into it until eventually you're able to do it basically do it all the time but never fully sprint solely on a track!

I’m going to transition from footy to sprinting as I think I have a real shot at this considering I’m running as quick as all these other guys but I’m packing and extra 15kg hahah.
