Hey Paul, I've been reading about Anaximander recently. He lived 610 - c. 546 BC and was an amazing scientist. I'm flabbergasted about what he imagined way back then.

Heads bent down to look at the phone... or heads bent up to look at the heavens.

I didn’t realise, but I needed that message today - no matter the chaos and unpredictably, the sun and stars will always be there and good times and the summer will return 😊.

I built a time machine, once, but it was just special effects.

The earliest individuals on Earth to look up at the sky and observe the Sun and the Moon and the stars were our ancestors who lived about 300 million years ago. This was after the eye had evolved in the creatures who lived in the sea, and they crawled out of the sea and evolved a brain that could recognize objects in the sky. Those were the first astronomers, but they probably didn't try to write anything down though.

"Look out at the sky" REALLY???
It's so polluted out there that you'd need a James Webb to get a glimpse of stars

Never underestimate our ancestors. They may not have had our tools and toys, but brain-wise… there likely was not much of a difference for several tens of thousands of years.
Btw, I have an astrolabe sitting right behind me on my shelf. A beautiful piece of art, and at the same time an impressively precise instrument.
    Thank you for this video.
    Ad Astra. 🙂

Ancient Britons knew this stuff Dr. Sutter. But the had no writing, the druids or bards, teacbers and healers, used poetry and songs to pass information down such as calender star risings etc. People often think that stone age man was dumber than us. They had the same mathematical ability as were do now. Furthermore, they knew of the 18.6 year cycle of the moon and 8 year cycle of Venus and no writing, they could predict the solar eclipse at stone henge using markers moved in opposite directions and different counts, when they landed on the same stone,a solar eclipse. No writing, just songs and poems.

Civilizations which interpreted the sky flourished. Those that didn’t, died off.

People back then were also teaching about dark matter and energy, today it's scrubbed/hidden and lock away from our understanding. 🌼🔥
