    • @DoubleDelta10
      @DoubleDelta10 5 років тому +56

      The tower was pretty much going directly against god, most of the people living on earth had said “let’s make a city together and let us make a Celebrated Name for ourselves, so we will not be scattered over the entire earth” this was bad because God had previously said to Noah “be fruitful, become many and fill the earth” so god confused the languages so everyone would scatter to different parts of the earth, and that’s how Babel got its name because Babel derives from the word Ba’lal which literally means Confuse

When he asked where in Japan we were from, I told him that my cousin is from Osaka and I'm from America, he started speaking in Kansai dialect! Even though I understand what you are pointing out, I have to say that in the US is a bit different mostly because of the way some Americans harass people for speaking other languages and say things like "this is America, you have to speak English". What is racist is the fact that some people don't want anyone speaking other language that is not English.

    • @theiVIRUS1
      @theiVIRUS1 6 років тому +3

      @Reague of Regends I can't argue with what you said about people moving to another country and not learning their language, actually I also think that if you move to another country you should learn their language, so I agree with you on that. But when I was writing my comment, what I had in mind was situations like the one with a lawyer threatening people on a restaurant for speaking Spanish. To be honest I don't know how frequent these situations happen and I'm pretty sure it happens in other countries too, but for some reason every time I see something like that in the news or a social media, its in the US. And don't worry it happens to me too, hopefully I don't sound like I'm trying to argue (in a negative way) or something.

      00_Internet_User Ehhh no, you have me mistaken, sorry.
      I choose to dissociate myself from the fandom after hearing about the degenerative actions of various other members like zoosadism, beastiality and literal pedophilia and child molestation (mentionably Kero and RC Fox, I highly suggest looking both cases up and _really_ consider what being a “furry” means to you). I believe it is more common in this fandom than I would have even imagined it to be. It was weird and equally messed up to hear about, thus I dropped it entirely; I don’t want the stereotype to brush off on me, although I still like drawing art with some aspects of anthropomorphism regardless...
      Nothing against you, in essence it shouldn’t be something to be ashamed of - it’s just that a vast majority of degenerates cling to that fandom and tarnish its reputation for others. It’s beyond creepy how many of these people roam free in conventions and such, but yeah. Just how things are unfortunately...people like to exploit the good in things for their own sadistic benefits...

    I am a Chinese who stayed at Canada for 8 years. I often go back to China during the summer. Now I need to say that ppl from this video showed their real face. And this is very very common in China. If you are polite,and talk to Chinese with your sincere they will have a lot of respect to you ;They can feel how sincere and good you are, then You can have a very strong bond with them. They will ask u to come to their house and they will make dinner for you. They saved the phone number in case you need help. Because they know in heart that this is “Yuan” (ppl call it the fate brought you guys together, and they will really cherish it!

      This applies for all nations and people. I've made really good friends both in Iraq and Afghanistan. I grew to care for these people as they invited me into their homes for dinner. Often I'd refuse the meal they would try to serve my but instead I'd offer my meals for my marines to eat before me, that way the families can trust my squad as much as they trust me. There, friendship starts with respect and politeness. I didn't force them to be my friend because I was a marine, I genuinely cared for their people and villages and even protected them. You can find good people everywhere, and you can make friends anywhere, as long as you have respect for life.
      Sorry for the long comment. I have made friendship with people saving thier lives and seeing them once more 2 years later and never went back again t see them. I miss the friends I have made in Iraq and Afghanistan, all I hope is that their people actually enjoyed my company as much as I enjoyed thiers.

There are so many good, kind-hearted people, from every piece of the globe and you showed that you can find them even in a place ravaged by war, in a population people wrongly write off as what we portray them as the enemy. It's so sad that others, in this case terrorists, can tear good meaning peoples apart from each other. Thanks for the admirable story.

    6:17 It's very rare to see a Chinese person bow because the Chinese culture is less formal, unlike the Japanese culture where it's more formal, and taking a bow is something you'll see quite often in Japan. The reason why he bow down to you is because he is expressing great gratitude & respect towards you; all because you are able to speak their language and he feels honored for that. In return, what Chinese people will do is invite that person for a food fest/gathering. Don't ever decline the offer :)

      You honestly can't compare someone learning English to What Moses just did. English is THE global language of communication and many people, including Chinese people, start learning it in school at a young age out of necessity. You're not humbled when someone learns English because everyone HAS to learn English. Moses however spent 10 years of his life not only learning how to speak Mandarin fluently, but also how to speak Cantonese and the Szechuan dialect; each of which are significantly harder to learn than English. He's learning their language despite it being hard so that the chinese people he meets can freely speak their native language, and he's doing it out of respect. Its a sign he has a great respect for that man's culture and that's why the man bowed to him.

      +sam houston The word you're looking for is a "polyglot", not a "linguist". A linguist, in its modern usage, means a scientist who works professionally in the field of linguistics. Depending on their area of research, it can be enough for a linguist to speak one language only.

    • @echelon2k8

      +echelon2k8 No need to be so condescending. I know the word is still used colloquially in that sense sometimes but since linguistics became an established scientific discipline, it sounds weird to call someone a linguist who has nothing to do with the science of linguistics. It's like calling someone who's good at mental arithmetic a mathematician.

    To those of you curious about the "Communist Party" bit, the man in the center was alluding to the fact that his name is similar to a former 1989 communist party member in China. Its more of an allusion or joke, like if an American named George were to say "Like George Washington or George Bush", it has no real political affiliation with those peoples beliefs, its just a name that is similar and more well known by those people. Hope this clears it up, it certainly threw me off.

    As an American who has lived and studied in China for 4 years: Chinese people are honestly some of the nicest, most outgoing and hospitality-filled people I’ve ever met. Completely different from what a lot of people generalize them to be. The problem is that people don’t understand that they have to look past the surface and past media propaganda and actually get to know people in order to develop and accurate opinion of them. You can’t just let a few bad experiences with groups of people ruin the entire lot for you, that’s what led to the downfall of the anabaptists. Peaceful 14th century European people who simply wanted baptism to be a choice people made when they got older, but one lunatic bunch of them got the other 95% in big shit as well. If I️ generalized every group of people I️ had any connection with based on a few negative experiences, then I️ would hate the hell out of a whole lotta countries right now. Moral of the story: stop being assholes, educate yourselves, stop generalizing, and be open minded

      While you might be right a lot of people have bad connotations of Chinese people for good reason. There are a lot of entitled, rude, and plain racist Chinese people out there. This is a consistent theme I see.
