Rest Easy Philthy, my drum hero. This track exemplifies his talent perfectly. Lovely guy, great sense of humour and an underrated drummer. Never forgotten.
Bloody Hell... this is still louder, harder and faster than anything 40 years later... three people, making that much noise? Just one of those rare moments...
I saw Motörhead at Hammersmith in the eighties. It was so loud, it went almost silent in my head at times. As if my head couldn't comprehend it. Had my head in the speaker at one point. Couldn't hear a thing for a week. Went to the to the toilet and couldn't hear anyone speak. It was surreal. About a month later I saw Manowar at the same venue. Almost as loud, but not quite. Two loudest gigs I ever saw. People these days that just see bands at stadiums or festivals haven't a clue how loud it was back then.
I'd call that the recipe for any downer-moment one has. Put on some live Motörhead from the eighties, kshhhh open a beer and relax the f down :) That does the trick indeed!!
Hearing Motörhead underpinned by the sound of continuous thunder. The height for me is the solo after the first re-start- wow!!!! Tight juggernaut of perfection
You are so spot on with your comment about the solo after the first re-start - sublime! Did a guitarist ever fit a band's sound so perfectly. This sound could never be replicated by any other musicians.
the bomber lighting rig is one of the best in history . no experience like a motorhead concert . they gave all . you liked it thats great you did not approve well thats fine as well . they never ever changed to please . just love it . rip my hero .
I remember seeing this lp and saying WTF, WHO ARE THESE CRAZY GUYS? 40 years later they're still my favorite band ever and they have all passed away..R.I.P. LEMMY, PHILTHY AND FAST EDDIE...
The best Motorhead line up IMHO, this song is the mutts nuts as is the whole album. Thanks for posting. Move over for a damage case...RIP Lemmy and Phil - top blokes.
Watching this video makes me grateful of many things. Most importantly it makes me grateful of two things... I'm glad I love Rock n Roll, and I'm glad I got to see Motorhead in my lifetime. Long live Lemmy!
He is so filthy & laying down those beats like no one could. But the camera guy rarely filmed him. Putting together an entire album of sound into one song.
Saw them in 1984 (I was 19) in the Barrowlands Glasgow a pretty small venue, I was at the bar most of the night and was still deaf for about 3 days... my ears were ringing and there were people headbanging into the speakers!!! God i wish i could back to that night.. brilliant. Although i remember that there was 4 of them and one of the guitarists was ill and couldnt come.. good job or my ears still would have been ringing! :)
I always loved how you could tell ALWAYS how geeked out Lem was, anytime, anywhere. Any footage you watch of the man, he’s geeked and so are Phil and Ed. No shit it’s called ‘Speed’ Metal, haha. I LOVE IT
In its own way Overkill is the hardest song of its genre - and it is amazingly long. This level of energy can be seen an amplified continuation of MC5's Kick Out The Jams. For me this was the best and the only true Motörhead line-up. Recently my son got all my Motörhead vinyl records from me (next to 300 other Rock/Metal classics) - it was quite an enlightenment for him.
RIP Lemmy Your Sprit Lives. 7 Articulated 40 foot trucks of lighting and PA up in a day! and a show a day, for a month. Those were the days... Rock on at high volume Lemmy....
ONE OF BEST LIVE ALBUM .... THE BEST LIVE ALBUM OF MOTÖRHEAD, A MONUMENT OF ROCK'N'ROLL !!! THANK YOU LEM' FOR THIS 40 FUCKING YEARS OF PURE ROCK'N'ROLL ! WE MISS YOU !!! THE ROCK IS SAD SINCE THE DECEMBER 28th 2015. 😎😥
Thank you for uploading the Video as I didn't keep a record of the show lighting back in the daze!! Analogue lighting with its continuously variable physical quantities working in harmony to emulate Motorhead's audio, made this one of the most amazing shows, that rocked your soul, and blow your socks off… Keep Lighting Live
Let me thank you , moog! You Made my day for the x- time !!!! Thank you grateful for posting plus lyrics ! The geniusses motörhead and finest live Shows in them Times!!
+Anders Lindberg Anders there is only an audio maybe. There is no footage of the Hammersmith gig, because there was no show there. This here is footage from a Nottingham gig afaik.
It’s amazing how a 3 piece band sounded bigger than bands with twice as many members
Haha that's soooo damn true. There are metal bands with twice as much members and are soooooo far away from sounding this heavy ❤
It was the combination of three talented musicians that had a different attitude about how loud and powerful rock'n'roll should be...
Close to perfection. RIP boys
the greatest Trio ! R.ip Lemmy ,Eddie & Taylor!!
No one can beat this line up.
Golden Years.
Clarke, Kilmister, Taylor - never bettered.
Metallica lol
@Ben Brasseur officialDON'T FORGET US! WE ARE MOTORHEAD!
christuffer
and never equaled.
I say Wurzel belongs to the legendary lineup too ...
The REAL Motorhead.
They talk about a wall of sound - THIS is a wall of sound!
fuck yeaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
Louder than the Who and everything else(except Manowar).
Manowar, that elusive fucking band I love but have never seen. Yep, they probably are the only band louder than the mighty Motorhead.
This is no wall of sound, is a tsunami of sound.
@Louise Hayle #lol yep it took a few days to regain hearing...... hahahaha
Rest Easy Philthy, my drum hero. This track exemplifies his talent perfectly. Lovely guy, great sense of humour and an underrated drummer. Never forgotten.
You are so right about being underrated. When seeing a conversation about drummers his name never comes up and that is a fucking shame 🤘
Fucking raw power machine!!!
But we know
Amen.
ämen.
Bloody Hell... this is still louder, harder and faster than anything 40 years later... three people, making that much noise? Just one of those rare moments...
You are so right, Mate!!!

Scary to be deaf that long.
InfotainmentScan it was a bit, at least I knew why. It's numbingly loud at smaller venues.
Right, much louder in 80s. Today is just radiosound. Been at Parkway Drive concert, and mate and ne could talk during show impossible in 80s.
@@achibergmann6335 During that Mötorhead gig, I remember shouting in my mates ear, who couldnt hear a thing.
@@philjones45 😂
Same experience I have. Don't talked on the way home, useless!
The greatest metal track of all, this just pulverises you.
Metal my arse, this is pure distilled essence of rock'n'roll.

Philthy's drum work live was incredible. Rock on legends \m/
The fact how the song ends and he starts it again but faster
How can he play that fast??
If your feeling down try having a beer then playing this song full blast. Makes you feel great each and every time!
Is exactly what I'm doing!
Same
If just this song doesn’t do the trick try the whole ace of spades and overkill album full blast

One word for this version of Overkill Brilliant.
The world really needed Motorhead...and the world was never the same after that...
The third album in the Motorhead trinity. Overkill, Ace of Spades and No Sleep 'til Hammersmith. All three are essential. 🤘
He is so filthy & laying down those beats like no one could. But the camera guy rarely filmed him. Putting together an entire album of sound into one song.
