I was skeptical of Riley Knight at first. I think by now he has become my favourite commentator. The Knight/Cheon combo is especially delightful. I don't think I ever laughed so much during a WotC broadcast while still being informed about strategy and boardstates.
oh man, I think one turn instead of favoring the multiple scrys at the end of maynard's turn, vieren should have just activated his flip land and made a couple of life linking vampires to buffer his life by attacking for 2 more life.. it would have made the difference.. I think he needed just a tad bit more.. assuming the only way he loses that game is with cast out & angel of inventions coming out with haste for a double smack.. which is exactly what he managed to stitch together (albeit rather lucky.. it was his only out).. Also, had Vieren played a little tighter and waited on his scavenger grounds 1 turn later, he may have been able to snag the ipnut rivulet as well, but that one is hard to say because he was being pressured really hard already at this point and needed to fade another angel randomly popping out and beating him down.. Plus, he sort of needs to activate in response to the first reanimation activation.. eh.. and to see that the last milled card from the ripulet being an angel of inventions, sigh.. I think if he had slowed down just a tad bit, he had game 2 in the bag with his multiples of treasure map. Nevertheless, great match and was really a pleasure to watch. Love both of these decks, though.. honestly they seem rather pulled from magic online lists.. at least both decks are way more fun and inventive than that energy garbage.
lol.. this is what magic was meant to be. Not the ZZZzZZz 1 for 1's or incremental 2 for 1 mid-ranged "good stuffs" through cards like torrential gearhulk and the stupid scarab god.. in a rather slowed down, standard control meets mid-ranged energy.. or against those stupid ass ramunap red aggro beat down style decks that win mostly based on luck of the draw and winning the coin flip to be on the play. Magic is all about the combo synergy and playing to your outs/inventing original combos and having fun seeing it play out. Standard has been sucking of late because people have been forced into play styles that suck due to poor design space and R&D tunnel vision. These decks have been online and tested via against the odds (good old saffron) and other players because people are tired of 'the norm' and willing to tune/play new lists albeit with some risk for a reason.

he's great, I want to see him and LSV have a go
I think I just found my favorite commentator in recent memory. "He's got more gifts than Dudley Dursley." I literally laughed out loud.

Oh Cheon, So nice having you here.
This was fucking crazy! First time I've watched a match twice in a row.
Me too but only because the commentators are so poor.

Pascal Vieren's board state was straining the RAM and causing performance issues for the judges.
