Wow! Mr. Olsen was right about if you are this good at this stage the sky is the limit as you go forward, Alec! Thank you for sharing your work. It definitely inspires us who are still at the 5 minute owl stage. One day with practice and some lessons people will look at it and say “oh, it’s an Owl” instead of “oh, that’s cool”! Lol Thank you for the inspiration in what can be possible.
Alec, as I was watching, I was expecting that carving to open his eyes and look at us. He was so realistic, and I appreciate you sharing your one-hour challenges.
I just spent 2 hours carving a 3” owl, while cleaning my edges up I snapped it’s beak and spent the last half hour turning my owl into what I can only describe as a drunk sea lion with a wing…… after watching this video I don’t know if I should feel inspired or just cry. Mr. Alec is unreal.
That would literally take me 4 days when it really doesn't have to. I have a serious problem with trying to make it perfect and probably mess it up more then make it any better. It's so frustrating because I know I do it and need to stop but continue to do the same thing every time. Any tips on stopping that would be appreciated. Love your work Alec
Excellent work. Good time
fantastic carving Alec as always . ❤
First 4 minutes and I said Wow nice.

Great carving as always ....... anyways what kind of wood species are you using in this carving 😀👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Cottonwood bark!
Seems like you prefer to carve bark versus inner wood, is that the case? What kind of wood is this if you would like to share...?
Yes, this is cottonwood bark!

That’s one of the reasons I use a timer. I don’t allow myself to keep working past the allotted time!
