- We take you on a festive tour of Helen, Georgia, which is a Bavarian-themed village in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northern Georgia.
Helen is known for its proximity to Anna Ruby Falls, numerous tubing opportunities on the Chattahoochee River, and it's scenic beauty.
Another beautiful little town in our North Georgia Mountains. That's what I love about these places, they are different in many ways but each has it's own charm. Welcome back and hope both of you had a great weekend.
We had a wonderful weekend in you were part of the state. Thank you for watching.
Love Helen, Ga. Love the Heidelberg Restaurant, love German food. Haven't been there in several years and the German family that ran the restaurant served authentic German food , they had a sampler platter you could order to taste the many dishes of Germany and Bavaria. We have never been there during Christmas Holidays can't wait to see the night video of the lights of Helen.. Thank you both for sharing this with us🙂 you were spot on about the talent that gentlemen has with the clarinet and saxophone , he definitely knew his music .
Yes, we could have stood there and watched him for much longer.
Helen has beautiful lights. I'm hoping to have that video up tomorrow, if I don't hit any more snags with the computer program. It's been giving me a little difficulty.
I love this town - it’s great fun to go to - and not as crowed to visit
Yes, we love going there.
Beautiful town! Looking forward to you showing it at night. Sure enjoyed that saxophone player.
Yes, he was excellent.
Should have the Christmas lights video up today. I got 2 separate copyright hits, so I'm having to go back and re-upload it.
One of them, was when the guy in Dahlonega was singing "Christmas In Dixie". It's not even the original artist singing, and he even changed the words a bit. And they still got me.
And then, there was another copyright hit, for a soundtrack that I added from my video editing program, which I'm SUPPOSED to be able to use.
I'm having to impose other music over those 2 sections, which makes it sound terrible. But UA-cam isn't giving me any choice.
Thanks for letting us tag along I haven't never been to Helen Georgia but heard bout it
You are very welcome. It's a nice little place to visit.
Looks like a neat town. I have never been there but my wife was before I met her and we were married. That saxophone player was incredible! I used to play the sax button near that good. It was amazing how long he held out that one note. I don't know how he was able to do that. Thanks for sharing this town with us. I enjoyed the tour. Can't wait to see it with the Christmas lights on.
Thank you so much for watching. Yes, we did enjoy the saxophone player very much.
The Christmas lights video will be up sometime this afternoon, hopefully. I had it uploaded this morning, but got 2 separate copyright hits. One, for music that was being sung in the background by a local artist, which is ridiculous to give me a hit for that. It wasn't even the original artist, and he even changed the words of the song.
And the other, was for music that I imposed over the videos of the Helen, Georgia Christmas lights, and it was music that I took from my editing program, which I'm supposed to be able to use.
I'm having to re-upload it, and put another music track over those tracks, which makes it sound terrible. But UA-cam isn't giving me a choice.
Such a fun little Alpine town. It has been years since I visited Helen. Pretty as always.
Yes, it's very pretty. Thank you for watching.
I have watched a lot of channels you two do the best job showing us around i feel like im walking with yall not watching you two looking forward to the night time tour thanks
Thank you! We really appreciate that. We do try to make the viewer feel they are there with us.
Sometimes, I get some criticism for rambling and talking so much, but I just try to be very detailed. We are glad you appreciate that.
@@NCMemoryMakers Derrick I enjoy most of the time your talking 😂 you both are good people May God Bless you both In Jesus Name Amen
You can often find very nice and affordable airbnb near Helen or outside of Helen. I have several that I stay at regularly.
Dotties Kitchen has a wonderful cafeteria style breakfast. Reasonably priced and good food.
You also don't want to miss Hofers Bakery when in Helen. Delicious pastries and the breakfast is just wonderful. Bratwurst Biscuits and gravy is delicious. Favorite German Fare is in Bodensee.
The Festhalle has Bingo every Tuesday and Friday nights which is a lot of fun.
I've never been to the Crepe House...but have heard good things.
Mullers Cheese Cafe is EXCELLENT.
Thanks for the walk through of one of my favorite towns
Christy
And thank you for all of the great information and suggestions. I would be interested in some of the places you have stayed for a reasonable rate there.
It just seems like on Thanksgiving weekend, things are very expensive. Of course, that's really the only time we've ever gone there.
But I would definitely like to stay closer to town. And we would love to try all of the places you mentioned.
There's something about that Mullers, that just sounded like something I would really enjoy. Yes, definitely try the crepe place when you are in town next time. Lots of great options.
I love your videos
Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoy them!
Good morning from Freezing Gatlinburg' TN 💧🥶❄️🏞️🌄
Good morning
Should visit biltmore house for the beautiful Christmas decorations. Love your videos, interesting
We tried that year before last, and couldn't even get an email or a call back about tickets. I think you pretty much have to do it months in advance, and we're not even thinking that far ahead for Christmas. We'd like to get there one of these years.
Enjoyed your walk through!
Thank you for watching!
Y'all need come during the summer and float the Hooch!
Sounds like fun.
Thanks!
My wife’s been wanting to go here for a few years. I had no ideal it was this crowded.
We went during the opening of the Christmas season. I know it's very crowded in October. I'm sure there are less crowded times.
Too crowded for me! Did you see the love locks? So cool!
It was very crowded. But we enjoyed it. We did not actually see the locks, but we saw several stores that had them for sale.
Awesome video. Watching from our Hallmark town of Ligonier, Pa. Look up our beautiful town soon!!
I'll check it out.
Alright thank you!!
We also have a Holland Michigan where the Dutch settled people can go there and visit
Yes, I've heard of that.
I left a comment, but i not seeing it now. I mostly use my phone, so probably an error on my part. I also recommended a channel of sone folks who live near there, so that’s probably it. Seems UA-cam doesn’t like that. They either think you’re trying to promote or something. Anyway, I enjoyed it. Thst saxophonist is incredible!
Yes, we could have listened to him for a lot longer. He was very talented. How he was able to hold that note for that long, I'll never know. I would have fallen over long before that.
If you like Bavarian , Frankenmuth, Michigan is a German Bavarian town with two delicious chicken German restaurants, and the largest Christmas store that I know of thousands of Christmas decorations
A couple of people have recommended Frankenmuth to us. It would just be a matter of being able to take the time to go all the way up there.
In Blue Ridge Georgia there is a Bigfoot Museum.
That would be interesting to see.
Jacob the Carpetbaggger has a video on UA-cam
Silce of helen used to be a kfc. Tell Derick this is Bulldog country he should have get him UGA shrit while he was in Georgia.
I could tell that the building was once a KFC. It had that distinct look. And no, I do not wear Bulldog gear.
I would love to try some of the various restaurants there. Next time, I'll probably try that Muller's Cheese place. If I were around for a couple of days, I would try Slice Of Helen. We want to come in the Fall sometime.
If you go on the weekends in the fall when they do Octoberfest it is really crowded.
@BigEd1971 I'm sure it is. We would like to go to the area for the scenery. I know that during the fall and their Oktoberfest, it's really a lot about beer and drinking. We're not into that. But I'd love to come for the scenery.
